Thank you very much for doing this video! I'm retired and living in Mexico and I saved up to buy a newer vehicle. I was looking at these two and wondered how they differ. You video has helped me a LOT and taught me a few things. 1 Mercury is no longer around so parts will be hard to find in 10 years. I also know I see a lot more Ford Escapes down here and the parts are cheap. Your videos are even helping peopl in other copuntries to find the right car for them! Thanks!!! :-)
I always thought the Mariners looked more elegant than the Escapes. The waterfall treatment of the Mercury’s are better compared to the Ford’s at least IMO
I honestly love the way both look , but if i had a choice i would choose the Mariner only for appearance . plus the mariner has a lot more options that were offered .
I've driven the I4 and owned two of the V6 Escapes. The mileage on the I4 is good only if you don't live in mountains or tow anything. The V6 is much better in these areas. I really like them!
I bought a Tribute for the same reason, great car. I've been in the repair side of the business for 30 years. The nice thing about the tribute is that most people looking for Escapes have no interest in looking at a Mazda, and because people that ARE looking for a Mazda are looking for zoom-zoom. The Tribute uses the same as the Mariner as far as fog lamps. Headlamp lenses are different.
What is your opinion, being you are the repair side of the business, of these cars as used cars as they get older? do you they tend to hold up OK? Easy to get parts for? Easy for mechanics to work on and keep going? thanks
Thanks. I was wondering if the Tribute and Mariner fog lamps are the same. By the way, the tail lights of the 08-12 Ford Escape fit the 08-11 Tribute perfectly. And vice versa.
These vehicles are equipped with 6 speed CVT transmissions. The 3.O V6 is the way to go 240 ponies, never an issue going up hills. These things are very poweful and fast especially on flat open highway

My Mariner has 252k on it. Runs great. I've had to do exhaust manifold gaskets, flex pipe, body control module, tone ring on the front right CV axle, brake hoses and regular maintenance besides that. I did all the work myself and parts were under $200 with everything combined. Trying to squeeze 400k out of it
George Denoncourt, just got my 2010 back from the shop. Had to have an axle bushing, seal, and inner part of the CV axle replaced. I've had to have a motor mount replaced. I scooped them all up for $288! All I had to do was pop out the center caps & switch them back! Yay! You can upgrade the headlight switch, if you want! Enjoy! Good luck!

I had a 2011 Mercury Milan Premier. My mother gotten a loaner vehicle to drive one time with a 2011 Ford Fusion. It was a little bit different exterior but, almost the same interior.
So I ask you in another video and you didn’t answer. It is now 2019. How long did you keep your escape and how many miles did you put it. Also what problems did you have and at what mileage did you have them please?
Good question and! Am moving from UK to Dominican Republic and looking at getting on of these, I've already traveled around the country with on of these and fall in love
It seems basically like a 2008 Ford escape limited we have. I mean some of the trim is different because of it being a mercury and such, but our escape has the direct tech, the upgraded sound system with six CD changer and sink and all that. And as two mileage with the V-6, I’m curious to see what you’re getting out of your four cylinder. Hours with the Duratek does about 26 on trips. About 23 in town.
It's an area you can store just about anything but is great for wet things like swim trunks etc. It's out of the way and hidden so great for putting small valuables while hiking etc.
"There was also the Mazda Tribute, but I never see those around." I would also say that the Land Rover Freelander 2 which was built 2006-2015 is related to a Ford Escape. They didn't share any parts and they were built in different plants, but the exterior shape looks somewhat similar. This was from the time when Ford owned Land Rover. By the way, the first generation Escapes were named Ford Maverick in Europe.
Do they have interchangeable parts? For instance I messed up the door Fran on my Mercury Mariner 2008 and found a Ford Escape in the junkyard so I took the door home and waiting for a good day to attach it.
