    Hey guys! So I'm about to get ready to post some actual patterns with the ripple stitch. What sort of patterns are you interested in? Blankets? Fingerless Gloves? Skirts? Hats? Let me know in the comments!

      I would love blankets... the stitch I would want to use is the knotted half double crochet. Do you know any patterns for a chevron blanket that use that atitch?

      This is great - I'm making a temperature blanket and needed a pattern with HDCs as the DCs would make this monstorously long blanket which I didn't want to do. This is a better stitch solution that what I found - I need to frog what I did but luckily we're only talking 6 rows. The pattern I had did decreases (HDCTOG) instead of skipping stitches. This makes a lot more sense. I had to see it to get it. Thank you!

      Hi Carol! Thank you for your comment! I'm so glad I can help you with your favorite stitch! Do you have any other stitches you'd love to see a tutorial on? Or any suggestions for the channel?

    Thank you, you are a very easy-to-follow instructor, Caitlin. My primary yarn stitching is knitting, but I am slowly learning to crochet, and this was very helpful!🧶

      I'm so glad this was helpful! How's your crocheting coming along?

    Thanks for the great pattern, it was very easy to understand! I counted to six instead of four to make my chevrons a little bigger.

      The beauty of this pattern is once you know it you can adjust it however fits your way of crocheting! some even do 2 or 3 chains at the top point to give it a more teardrop hole on the points. As long as you understand the principle is even-ness on all sides, you can have so much fun!
      I'm so glad to have been able to help! I've not been active on this channel in a while, but am looking at coming back soon. Life has been throwing me some big lemons lately and the lemonade came out a bit sour...

    Could you do this using the knotted half double crochet stitch?

    I've been looking for a HDC Ripple that is five up and five down instead of the taller seven up and seven down chevron. I haven't decided on a color scheme yet but pray mine comes out as beautiful as yours. Thank you!

      I'm so glad to help! I like a softer ripple myself and the half double crochet is plush. This color scheme was specifically in yearning for my Florida roots and the ocean. I use the same stitch pattern for a lot of my blankets.
      Let me know when you've picked a color scheme!

      Same here! I love the ease and look of the HDC and always wanted to do it in a Ripple!
      Alas, I took a terrible fall Sept 23rd and not able to crochet yet 😞

    How do you fill in the chevrons at the top and bottom of the blanket to have straight edges on all sides?

      I will get a video going for that. That's a special type of border in a way. :)

    So how many chain stitches to make a throw is it multiples of 27?

    • @HookYarnAndNeedle
      @HookYarnAndNeedle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I make a throw I tend to do between 135 and 147 chains with a J hook myself. 11 full points and 2 half points. I do multiples of 12 plus 3.
      How many chains I do for each project depends on how I'm crocheting when I start. So if I'm crocheting a bit tight with a smaller hook, I'll do the higher number to get to the 30 ish inches across. If I'm crocheting a little loose, then it's usually a larger hook and less stitches.
      From there, you can create whatever pattern and length you want for you blanket! :) Great question! Thank you for asking.

    If I didn't want to skip, leaving the hole in the valley, how would do the hdc then?

    • @HookYarnAndNeedle
      @HookYarnAndNeedle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you aren't wanting to skip 2, keep in mind that you're adding 2 to the top of the ridge, so the valley will need to have 2 removed. The best way is to HDC 3 together. Don't yarn over first, stick your hook through the next stitch, yarn over and pull through, then stick your hook through the next stitch. Repeat this one more time. You should then have 4 loops on your hook, and yarn over and pull through all 4 loops. It may be a tad chunky but it removes the 2 that you add at the top of the peak again so it evens out. The trick is to always count your stitches and make sure each row has the same amount of stitches. Thanks for asking!
