Each waifu is pretty great in their own right but nothing is perfect, today we'll JOKINGLY look at some of our pet peeves with each waifu. The worst part about Ann is that she has a really good build up in the first dungeon and she and ryuji pretty much become the comic relief after kamoshidas dungeon. I adore ann but they rly dont do much with her sadly
They play an active role in Mararame’s Palace. It’s after Makoto joins, that they get shafted to comic reliefs.
@@Kaisona2017 well, Ryuji still has the conflict with Mona during Okumura's palace (even though it's forced, doesn't make much sense and comes to the detriment of both characters) and he saves the gang during Shido's palace, but Ann kind of feels just there for the most part

@@GiordanDiodato The design was apparently supposed to be for a strategist phantom thief, but since Makoto already filled the role, everything about that character was scrapped until they reused their design for Hifumi

It really sucks, but interestingly enough it seems like at one point they may have considered making Kasumi’s romance happen earlier. Idk if you watch him but Faz uploaded a recent cool video about a cut rank 5 Kasumi confession, that could’ve allowed for Christmas and Hawaii dates. What could’ve been :(

Crap i feel so stupid, i uploaded this and noticed a ton of glitches from rendering like right away and thought i privated it so nobody could watch it this whole time, only to find out its been public lmfao. I'm unsure why its glitching out during certain frames but for the most part everything came out fine. Hope you all enjoyed the video, will try to make sure that doesn't happen again.

The worst thing about Makoto is her confidant. Like. Of all the inane bullshit. The worst thing about Ann is that her being a sexual abuse survivor was immediately forgotten about after the Kamoshida palace and the game just turned it into a competition who could sexually harass her the most. And then her social link is all about how she, an underage sexual abuse survivor, needs to pose sexier on camera. Like. I can't even.
I know I'm literally a year late to this comment, but I actually think Ann being a model is really interesting!

If the game's writing regarding her was competent enough to make it work. When I first started playing the game and saw the design of her Metaverse outfit and Carmen, I already had an idea of where her character arc might go: reclaiming her sexuality from abuse. The obvious BDSM inspiration for her latex suit plus the way Carmen had those lovestruck men on leashes made me think she was going to have a really interesting, not often explored character arc of a woman embracing her sexuality after having it be abused by a man in authority above her. Hence why her modeling would work too. She would want to feel attractive and be wanted, but on her own terms, i.e. only doing modeling gigs she wants to and is comfortable with.
I even heard about how people were really upset with her being pressured into doing the nude modeling for Yusuke, then also heard about how Royal fixed some writing problems. So my thought was, "Great! If her character arc is going to play out like that, then a natural point of progression for it might be for her to agree to it from the get-go. It'd make sense too: a totally safe and artistic way for her to be nude. It'd make total sense for her arc!" And then I was sorely disappointed by how they fumbled it so terribly.
In the actual game, her outfit is total fanservice, unrelated to a deeper desire other than a few throwaway lines of Mementos dialogue where party members comment on it perhaps being something she likes deep down. And her sexual abuse and other emotional trauma from the students constantly spreading rumors about her is completely forgotten and solved instantly, making perfect room for her to be constantly objectified!
Seriously disappointed with how her character turned out.

And then Atlus just dropped the ball on her. I guess it was to make her character more appealing to the mainstream. She is still by far my favorite P5 character.

I think the major problem with Makoto for me is the fact of how unfocused her Confidant is, as it's mostly about Joker and Makoto helping out Eiko rather than Makoto herself. There are a couple of things here and there on Makoto's personality and whatnot, but it's very brief. Her declaring to become a police commissioner to Joker, who was drugged, assaulted, and nearly killed by the police feels like character assassination (according to some people) on her especially. It's especially made worse by the fact of what kind of system Sae is seen to work under.

Out of them all Kawakami has the best benefit in the game especially after restarting with a cleared data file you get the night social links up faster thanks to her as it allows it when you gone dungeon crawling to level up in the day but Sai romancing her in p5 now so late in its no go haru was pushing it but royal yes that should of been an option with the extra month if it's that way for newly added Kasumi.

I wouldn’t have her as my favorite by any stretch, and she’s still the “worst” of any P5(R) girl for me, but when you’re comparing an A tier waifu to SSS tier waifu, it’s hard not to notice the difference.

The thing i dislike about this game is, in the normal history events, the game pratically ignores that you have a girlfriend, like in the beggining of the game when your friends come for the first time to the cafe, and Sojiro asks Ann if she has a boyfriend, and she says she never had one! (I was dating her!)
I dont know if they changed this in royal (Im sure they didnt), because i didnt play it yet, but it is necessary.

I actually really enjoyed the Romance System in the game, though I wished there was a bit more focus, scenes and possibilities in it (would a few dates and a goodbye kiss at the end to much too ask for, for all of the "Waifus"?). Anyway... Persona 5 is still a MASTERPIECE for me, not the best game I ever played, but goddamn we need more quality like this in todays games! Favourite Waifu's are (in order) Hifumi, Makoto and Ann :D

First playthrough of vanilla P5 I saw Futaba as waifu material (still went for Makoto), then I played it again 2 years later with royal I was like nahhhh.
Yeah the “little sister” vibes, and started seeing some of the “gamer girl” stuff did kick in. But that’s not what made me say “no”
I thought about her hygiene... it’s gotta be nonexistent. Even after the palace it probably doesn’t exist unless somehow Sojiro forced her to shower, which I feel like wouldn’t be until after the phantom thieves disband.
I thought this was going to be one of those joke videos where the worst thing about your waifu was that they don't exist.
Also 2:20 was my thoughts exactly when Royal came out and it STILL WASN'T POSSIBLE. I think the worst thing about that is that it was possible in the valentine's OVA.

There's a bigger issue that I think people are missing here. (Royal spoilers)
If you fell in love with Kasumi, you fell in love with someone that isn't real, that died before you ever "met" her. If you fell in love with Sumire, you fell in love you'd never seen before, someone you never actually met.

@@Technotoadnotafrog The thing is, you get to know the real girl (Sumire) in her ranks 6-10, and even in her original five ranks you don't actually know Kasumi, but Sumire's interpretation of her sister, which makes some things of the real girl still appear (having bad reflexes, being a good cook, episodes of insecurity and depression, etc), so in a sense, if you date Sumire the game implies Joker never fell for "Kasumi".
I like how Hifumi's downside is that she didn't get the deserved treatment she got in the OVA which I'm personally considering canon because I love her so much. And Sae not being dateable is a literal sin.
Sae's social link levels up automatically so it'd be really tricky to make her romanceable
Ann is actually waifu material with her hair down and it's worth the price of admission to play the dancing game just to see her like that.

I'd have to disagree, though it's probably more because of familiarity than anything. Plus I want my rhythm game to have good songs and while the originals are as good as always, every remix aside from Rivers in the Desert and Blooming Villain are average at best, though the third best is Beneath The Mask because future bass is cool.

Dating Sumi requires a test of patience, but it’s so worth it in the end.
I'd argue the same for Futaba though not nearly as much since she comes in towards the middle of the game...I just don't expect anyone to finish her confidant until Shido's palace.
I've always liked Hifumi but that swimming scene was awesome and really raised her in opinion, since she seems be much cooler than she is in-game. Makoto is still best girl, though her section was painfully accurate and hilarious. Haru is a close 2nd though
The fact that your right about Ann being cuter in the dancing game with her hair down. Like when I started playing and got that accessory unlocked, I was like Jesus Christ your hot with hair down. Same could be said for haru with her ponytail

I personally don't mind as much as most people do but I'll argue day and night that Teddie is good because I think he's funny as hell...except for that one time he sounds like he wants to fuck Nanako at the Amagi Inn.

I was surprised to not see that the worst thing about Kawakami, Takemi and Ohya is that they're LITERAL ADULTS dating a minor. Like they're all at least 25 and joker is 16-17, plus Kawakami is joker's teacher which sets a weird dynamic (which is too bad because her confidant is so helpful she's a game changer)

@BrTrueV Fair enough. I guess it's just a difference in perspective. For me, I generally try to look past negative first impressions of characters and look deeper since an improper first impression is a fairly common tactic employed with writing (and fairly true to life)
@BrTrueV That’s a valid way to experience the story (especially for an RPG like Persona). I'll admit that if I were Joker & I got stiffed out of that much money, then I'd probably hate her guts no matter what came after.
But as a player with a full outside perspective on the story, I can't really hold her early behavior against her. Everyone’s been pretty insufferable at some point in their life, but I’d rather judge a person on how they grew from their mistakes, just as I'd hope someone wouldn't hold an insufferable version of myself from the past against myself today.
