  • Review of the HP Envy 15. This laptop comes fully loaded with a 4K OLED Display, RTX 2060 MAX-Q, 16 GB RAM for around $1500 USD. Severely undercutting laptops like the MacBook Pro 16 and Dell XPS 15 while offering similar and sometimes better performance! Watch for the full review.

      Well I’ve used HP for years they’re very reliable well working machines with really no performance issues & can last the distance even if you choose to not update for a few years or more....
      Another great review Matt, I dunno if you’ll see my comment but I am actually in the market for a new laptop & I do prefer HP so in your opinion would this laptop be good enough for general use like social media, email, TH-cam, multitasking etc etc & still show a good overall performance and is that screen quality overall fairly good in your opinion?
      Thanks for your time, Keep up the great work!

      Yeah exactly. I had my old laptop for 5 years with an i5-6200u and Intel HD 520 graphics and it was fine, I even made it work for games as best I could. And yeah exactly, pretty much any laptop can be productive and run games if you’re willing to make it work. These reviewers don’t understand that and expect everyone to get a $3000 laptop with a 2080 or else it’s trash and can’t run anything. It’s so dumb.

      I dont know if I got a faulty model of this Envy 15. But from my personal experience there is quite noticeable coil whine noise and the fans go very loud on idle at random times when the charger is plugged. Had to return it.
      Some info about it what I was interested in before buying: Is the timeline playback in Premiere silky smooth even without a charger plugged in? Yes. And it lasted about 1h30min for me doing so.

    Thanks for the review. I've been wondering why the TH-camrs haven't cottoned onto the amazing HP Envy 15 2020 yet!
    Can you take a look at the ep0010na model with the i9? I'm especially interested in it's Premiere pro capabilities compared to MacBook 16 i9 / Dell XPS i9
    Some things I noticed
    1) The HP datasheet (at least UK Version) shows USB Power Delivery on the ports, perhaps need a high wattage USB-C?
    2) Did you notice the plastic cover on the inside hinge? I had to return one because the paint was chipped
    3) The huge rubber foot at the back! Hurts when you use it as an actual laptop

    Did you buy your envy 15 in July perhaps? You've noted that there is _some_ coil whine in your unit and I've done a little research and it turns out the early production models in July had the coil whine issues (right now I have found out it was in early July, but it could be early to mid July) or did you buy yours right as August began??

    My only concern with this laptop is that is seems like if you use it in certain sunlight conditions the lettering of the keys will become impossible to see. I had an Asus with a very similar keyboard and it had the same issue, where the lettering on the keyboard disappeared if in a room with a big window and lots of sunlight. Like in a coffee shop for example.

    Best purchase I've made in a long time review is spot on. There's just nothing out there that even comes close to this for the $$. Gaming on this thing is beautiful so long as you're conscious that it is only a 60HZ display as impressive as the 100+ FPS numbers are on max settings, I've gotten this thing to do 80-90 FPS on MW: Warzone maxed out with Ray Tracing and some MSI afterburner OC'ing. GPU Temps no more than 76c and CPU no more than 86-88c without a cooling pad.

    It would of made more sense to make it even cheaper by utilizing a QHD Display and it'll be even more battery efficient having a QHD Display instead of a 4K Display. For a screen that size a QHD Display would be a lot more beneficial for a proper level of detail. Can't wait to see manufacturers start using GRAPHENE BATTERY, lots of potential.

    • @DeanT1987
      @DeanT1987 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      QHD displays turn out being more expensive for manufacturers from what i understand as companies who make QHD displays are rare, most of them either make 1080p or 4k, funny enough tho the only company who makes 4K OLED is Samsung for laptops

    • @adri.khaz.6290
      @adri.khaz.6290 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeanT1987 4K is probably cheaper for them as it's quite often used in TV and it's been so many years being produced but for laptops not as much and it's not that often also that we see QHD display in laptops but instead in monitors and cellphones but there is still something to gain such as better battery life and perhaps even less overheating of the display thus may lead to longer longevity for the display and battery cell. We should definitely use QHD display in laptop unless 4K display becomes somehow more efficient while producing true 4K (if that's even possible). Or we start using GRAPHENE BATTERY, lots of potential.

    • @DeanT1987
      @DeanT1987 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adri.khaz.6290 Yea but again for us we want better battery life but for HP,Dell etc they want to buy panels at a good price and in large scale which may not be possible. I think the only laptop manufacturer that uses QHD extensively is Apple and I'm sure they have exclusive rights to the panels that are in their laptops and being that their high selling products like MBA and MBPro 13's have QHD panels they probably have manufacturer running at full capacity to keep up with demand. my theory idk if its true. I too wish I had QHD OLED in my HP Envy instead of this 4K at least for another hour of battery life.

    • @chelious1973
      @chelious1973 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing wrong with the edge to edge FHD display. You cannot see the pixels in real world use and gives you 3hrs extra battery life. OLED is great but not for productivity.
