I'm laughing so hard at the start, James and Rob don't want to participate at first. Then the whole crew is like okay what is this thing? And then Lou really wants to stay super professional and mystique. And the guys are just having fun with the German language, James hands the microphone to someone in the crowd.
Thank you to Lou Reed and, thank you to Metallica for having the guts to do this collaboration. One of the reasons I personally feel people don't like Lulu, is because they just don't, "get it "! It's not Metallica, they're just playing the music to Lou's lyrics. Another thing that's off putting, is the lyrical content. They're raw, unapologetic and, a representation of the double standards of not only a century ago, but even today. It's a deep album, deeper than most care to look. It's a classic!
I love Lou Reed and Metallica but Lulu is a pile of shit. Rock n Roll is a business for and created by young men in their greatest hour this was some senior citizens "this would be fun to do" pet project they did mostly for themselves, and it shows.
As weird as this project is, it’s fucking vicious lyrically and musically. There’s some delicate stuff too but Dragon is a fuckin beast and more fucked up and heavy than most young bands out there. I’m serious. In 30-40 years people will be talking about Lulu as one of the most interesting projects of the early 21st century. The spoken word stuff isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but if you let that wash over you and actually listen to what’s beneath it , it’s kind of a mindfuck record.
I love that Metallica isn't afraid to branch out. Even in their early albums. Cliff was introducing them to classical music and helping integrate it into RTL and MOP. Then the SanFran symphony and this. Even St Anger they weren't afraid to experiment with their sound. Even when it doesn't work, at least it's not the same old shit over 12 recordings.
Haha the interviewer was like: "Worst day of my life..". I did not remember how intimidating Lou was Thanks for putting this out guyz, big fan of Lulu believe it or not.
Lou was actually a pretty good singer when he wanted to be. No Freddie Mercury or anything, but at least as good as Mick Jagger in his prime. He mostly gave up on singing after the 70s.

I feel so bad for the host, I bet he got the questions from some producer and just haven't got enough mojo to get something good out of it. It's the tough day at work that really teaches you a thing or two. Painful and scary, yet inevitable and needed.
Haha. This is almost 90es Metallica. That unsavory old bastard Lou Reed brought back some of that biliousness. That interviewer got shredded. Admittedly he's the type of guy to deserve it.
The lyrics are quite sharp by the way. Lou Reed definitely didn't want to go with the main stream. That interview is awesome.
100%! Lulu is a classic!
I appreciate the talk of spontaneity, impulsivity, and playing in the present. This album just rings authenticity, especially this live performance.
James looks great!
This was 10 years ago so that helps.

Lou - "they have a large vocabulary. And that helps when you are trying to read." - Brilliant
when you look at james back then and look at him today, youd think he was a young dude here
They all look sooooo handsome
Lou reed is like the old version of Jason
This was James’ adulthood skinny phase. Love him.
JPX64 -Juan Pablo Ramirez- he actually seemed and looked pretty healthy here. After this he started putting on weight again.
@@JPX64Channel He got super skinny for the movie in 2011
It was the coke!
I'm sure he caught a virus when he played in India 2011 and made him loose a lot of weight
@@HamsterCrusher13 what movie?

"Ya think it's difficult to listen to, you should try to play this shit." - Lars summing up Lulu
Christ this is a fantastic interview. Would love to see more Metallica in this direction with the right lyricist.
Yeah, one of my favorite albums tbh. Really powerful
Lou is something out of this world

@@matz1011 Songs like Pale Blue Eyes, Berlin (off lou reed debut album), Foggy Notion, Sweet Jane (off Loaded album) are good examples.
They have this look on their faces like they know this is all so silly.. lol Specially Kirk.
Metallica looks like they’re being held hostage in this interview
