In a few months the gap between current day and Force Awakens will be as long as the gap between Revenge of the Sith and Force Awakens was. By that time the prequels had already done a reputation turnaround and the majority were fans of it, especially inside the fanbase. Revenge of the Sith in particular was at that point regarded even casually as kind of a banger. The reputation on none of the sequel films has gotten better, it has in fact gotten worse. They did not pass the test of time as some were suggesting they would do, they are not liked by the new generation nor the old. They failed.
@fredericofb Eh, not really. I understand what you're saying, to let Rise of Skywalker get a decade old, but that wasn't really my point to begin with. It was the era as a whole, 2005 marked the end of the main prequel storyline and like I mentioned even by Revenge of the Sith's release people were starting to change their minds. By 2007 prequel appreciation was common, by 2010 it was the norm, by the time The Force Awakens happened they were borderline legendary. People still though The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were troubled productions and unexciting viewings but still praised the lore, narrative structure, nuanced world building and focused. Long comment short, even after 5 years of its release people found appreciation in The Phantom Menace and what it introduced to the table, and as time went on it only got more positive of a reception. The 10 year gap from Episode III to Episode VII was getting healthier and more in favor of the prequels with each passing year. That IS NOT happening to the sequels, and it won't happen. Aside from being eye candy, having some great actors involved and, at least imo, being directed very well in the case of Force Awakens and Last Jedi, there is no appreciation for the sequels, there's no uproar for more, there's no celebrated and engaging additions to the lore (there were efforts but they didn't stick with fans even after prolonged exposure and fleshing out, in contrast to the prequels). To summarize, even shortly after release the prequels were getting some love, after many years they were finally were regarded. Time has not been kind to the sequels.
Exactly the sequel trilogy should have followed the Skywalker saga, but they did their own thing. And the new fans don't understand why people are upset at Disney.
There shouldn't have been a sequel trilogy. They should have created a new saga with new characters set hundreds of years in the future. That way Anakin fulfilling his destiny as the Chosen One and destroying the Sith to restore balance to the Force would have meant something. Also all those who spent years engaged in all the post RotJ EU content could have retained that canon (even though it too tramples all over Anakin's significance). The only reason to bring back the original characters/actors was for nostalgia. If they really wanted that they could always have found ways for some to make cameo appearances in a new saga as holorecordings, Holocrons or even "Force ghosts".
@@Olamchesed they could, but that story's already been told in the EU. Why not just leave those stories alone for all those who spent years, not to mention lots of money, engaging with them and give everyone something new? They could always consult Luke's holocron hundreds of years into the future for advice because of his experience combatting the Dark Side.
I'll not be watching this. I'm not sure anyone I know who loves Star Wars will. The only thing that makes sense is that Disney must be laundering money for criminals. How can they get such bad reviews and spend money on flops and still throw money at the same crap.
I don't understand. The only possible viable way to go would be to do a trilogy about Luke's great-great grandson or something like that. But nobody wants 1 movie of Rey, let alone an entire trilogy.
If he doesn't have a short leash and if Dave and John are helping as well and if they have a plan, take their time. It might turn out good might. Also the Darth maul thing being in the sequels terrible idea. I'm sorry but maul was always meant to die by Kenobi.
I'm honestly done with any new Star Wars media. Disney took the Star Wars I've loved for decades and ran it into the ground, and just finds new ways of desecrating the franchise's corpse. The Reva and Leia show (aka as the Obi Wan show) was the last straw. I'll keep reading the EU novels, and working on my own alternate universe fiction. Like SW Theory, I would love to see Disney pull its head out of its butt and actually make good content (not like there isn't PLENTY of source material options to choose from), but I'm not holding my breath.😢
Recast Luke, Leah and Han, remove every piece of Disney garbage from cannon and MAKE THE HEIR TO THE EMPIRE TRILOGY. But they won’t. They’ll make woke, agenda politics horseshit that 37 people on the planet will actually want to see. Star Wars is just f*cked beyond all recognition.
Urgh, who want to see iconic characters recast?! It didn't exactly work out well for the Solo movie. Star Wars started life as a movie series. The idea of adapting a spin off book series into movies isn't something I'd want. With Star Wars I want to go and see a new story that I don't already know or won't already be spoiled all over the Internet if I haven't read it. You'd certainly never have any possibility of an Empire Strikes Back moment if they start adapting pre-existing stories.
The thing is, even if it's a masterpiece of a trilogy, very few people still have faith in Lucasfilm productions. Episode 10 would lead the saga in the right direction if they decanonized the sequels. Bring back Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in some way or another.
@KD-Lewis There's a minor chance they would. Making two separate continuities for all fans to enjoy star Wars. What's more possible is to leave the saga as dead as it is...
Know one has to worry: it is a girl boss movie because K.K. Is in a position above anyone else in the trilogy. In a type of auto eroticism the lead female characters are suppose to represent K.K. Herself.
I was hoping this was gonna be the start of them relaunching the franchise and retconning 7-9, but seeing KK is involved sadly means that won’t be the case. More Disney tripe incoming.
At this point, disney just needs to leave Star Wars alone, for my sake, I've already given up on Star Wars a while ago. The only thing I'm still into other than rewatching the old classics is the games with cal kestis in it. Disney failed Star Wars.
At this point Disney is just trolling everyone. Either that or they just love wasting their time and money. No one wants another Rey movie, let alone an entire trilogy. Star Wars is dead until someone other than Disney purchases it and makes The Sequel Trilogy and Disney+ Star Wars streaming shows non-canon.
If I'd been told 10 years ago that I would be in position now of being at the point of almost not caring about SW anymore, I would have been laughing in the face of whoever told me that. The only thing I give a damn about now is the final Jedi game. I just don't care about any of these announced projects, developing films or any other media. Disney have absolutely destroyed my enthusiasm for further SW media. At least all the pre-Disney stuff I have still gives me enjoyment.
We can only hope Disney is dumb enough to do this, because if they do, Disney dies a faster death, Darth Kennedy get thrown out on her ass and Iger loses the company. But I can't see Disney being that nice to fans. should they do this, we MUST call an immediate and full boycott in every way possible.
Nah, Kinberg is gone walk out at some point ore being fired due to creative difference and the whole thing is gone sink, this is the standard sequence we have seen time after time again
We can all pretend to really like skeleton crew so she thinks she had her big win and leave. Thow thats kinda letting the emperor step down and letting him leave...... ehhh she'll dig her own grave
I don't want these clowns to touch any of the legends stuff, only after they fire literally everyone involved with starwars and bring in a new team would I have any hope in anything they produce being even slightly good.
Disney can make as many Star Wars movies as they'd like. I just don't care anymore. I'm not watching any of them, and I'm not taking my kid to see them. The Skywalker saga ended with Ep IX. Anakin is dead. Leia is dead. Luke is dead. Rey is a Palpatine, not a Skywalker.
I've been wanting an Old Republic Trilogy or a series set in that era for years. But now, I'm dreading one day hearing the news of Disney, in any way touching that part of Star Wars.
The problem with the Old Republic is the technology. It barely looks like it's from a 100 years before the original saga let alone millennia. There's nothing to suggest technological growth or indeed growth in knowledge of the Force. Jedi and Sith are often presented as having knowledge that far outstrips that of the characters in George's saga.
Highly doubtful, but literally watch them do George’s vision with Darth Maul & Darth Talon, but using Rey instead of Luke lol. Could totally see Lucasfilm do that & try to take all the credit. Honestly not interested in this whatsoever. They literally just said they wanted to go away from the Skywalker saga now they are going back? Makes no sense.
no surprise , after acolyte we can all agree that SW will continue to be crap at least till kk is fired tho i don't think even if they fired her things will change , maybe depending who they put in charge afterwards.
1977-2012 will always be Star Wars and Disney is not Cannon expect for Mando season 1-2, Rebels, Bad Batch, Clone Wars season 7, Andor, Tales of the Jedi, Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor, Rouge One, Solo, a little bit of Ahsoka, a little bit of Book of Boba sofft, the end of the Reva show, and that's it. Everything else that they had made like the Acolyte is not cannon and is an insult to George and the true fans of this beloved franchise. Long live George Lucas Star Wars forever!! I live Star Wars everyday for example, I listen to the music everyday, watch clips, my entire basement is filled with Star Wars stuff and play the games. One day I even listened to Cantina Band for 24 hours and I would do it again any time. The sad part is that my mom and dad kinda bully me in way for loving Star Wars. For example, Every time I ask my dad to watch the clone Wars or play lightsabers with me he would ignore me. 2 hours latter he would be sleeping on the couch. Star Wars could have been a for me to connect to my dad and mom but they won't see it. I am an only child and this is painful for me. I want Star Wars to get better because it is my life. I will always have the first six films and clone wars but I really wanted to like the sequels that George wanted to make. Oh by the way Theory I love your videos I listen to you everyday and can't wait for Vader episode 2 and three! You are going to make the galaxy great again. May the force be with you and to all of the true fans out there.
It's unfortunate but since the acolyte I've emotionally checked out of star wars, it took me 4 months but I don't care about this shit anymore. They've ruined it so much i can't be bothered to care about it anymore. It'll never reach the same hype or level as the announcement of TFA. They've killed their fanbase and then cry about numbers
Star Wars is dead make a Anime theory TH-cam page. No more chances for Star Wars… as sad as it is to say that. It’s the reality of the situation.
@@jjc5407 What they could also have done is leave Palpatine dead. And have Luke prepare young Jedi to defeat a new threat.
It's Disney...even Favrue couldn't save it 😢
I'll not be watching this.
Just doubled down on garbage like we all knew they would. The fkn guy flopped two Jean gray movies
Right?? They left all of his horrible flops out of the article, lol.
This going to bomb. The only reason the sequel trilogy made money was because it had been so long since the prequels
I hope this trilogy never sees the light of day. And if it does it will be a flop
They'll probably call it Star Wars: The Light of Rey.
Why does she need three more movies when she mastered everything in her first appearance?
Not even Luke got 2 trilogies, they have lost their mind
I'm honestly done with any new Star Wars media. Disney took the Star Wars I've loved for decades and ran it into the ground, and just finds new ways of desecrating the franchise's corpse. The Reva and Leia show (aka as the Obi Wan show) was the last straw. I'll keep reading the EU novels, and working on my own alternate universe fiction. Like SW Theory, I would love to see Disney pull its head out of its butt and actually make good content (not like there isn't PLENTY of source material options to choose from), but I'm not holding my breath.😢
Rey will have more films then Luke? Just keep watering down that franchise. Nobody will notice.
The crazy thing is no one is asking for this ....
What if they made a prequel trilogy set between return of the Jedi and the sequel trilogy or do a mando verse trilogy
"Just walk away" - Lord Humungus. I think I'm done to the point of just ignoring everything except the 6 Lucas movies.
This means Kathleen has no intention of retiring or changing course. 3 films means at least another decade with her.
Disney continues to kick around the corpse of Star Wars. Man, I wish Disney would sell Star Wars and Marvel.
The thing is, even if it's a masterpiece of a trilogy, very few people still have faith in Lucasfilm productions. Episode 10 would lead the saga in the right direction if they decanonized the sequels. Bring back Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in some way or another.
Never gonna happen
@KD-Lewis There's a minor chance they would. Making two separate continuities for all fans to enjoy star Wars. What's more possible is to leave the saga as dead as it is...
Know one has to worry: it is a girl boss movie because K.K. Is in a position above anyone else in the trilogy. In a type of auto eroticism the lead female characters are suppose to represent K.K. Herself.
If this has any chance of being good, they need Sam Witwer
No. Don't bring him into that garbage. He doesn't deserve that
@ then it’s going to suck, Disney needs people who actually care about Star Wars
They won’t break even with a Rey movie let alone a trilogy
Disney helping me to save money.
Skywalkers' are dead. Their saga is over. The Palpatine saga continues... smh
If, Luke Skywalker is George Lucas
Then, Rey is Kathleen
It looks like you find commas confusing.
With how the only true fan base is the ogs, they will feel this hurt hard
this simply won't happen. they can make as many announcements as they like but unless we see a trailer with actual footage, nothing exists.
Star Wars is a rotting corpse that solely provides entertainment from watching the scavengers feed on the remains.
This is going to be great. If it comes to be, I'll enjoy the fan reactions 😂
NO ONE HAS CLICKED YET.....This new Trilogy is the garbage Ryan Johnson was going to make but they've simply swapped him out with another hack!!
I hear they want Rey as the ObiWan type in this new trilogy 🤷♂️🤦♂️😮💨
Ooh, will she grow a beard and age really prematurely for no obvious reason?
no surprise , after acolyte we can all agree that SW will continue to be crap at least till kk is fired tho i don't think even if they fired her things will change , maybe depending who they put in charge afterwards.
Why is Disney so adamant on going against the grain? I really just don't understand. 😮💨
Only thing that could fix what’s been done is to bring George back and to make everything that was created after he left legends and the legends books presently canon again. But that will never happen so it’s dead. Remember Star Wars for what it was.
"Make another Rey movie, you will? Stupid you are. Breed you should not!"
- Yoda
A Rey Palpatine trilogy moving past the Skywalkers will absolutely FLOP, period i want it in theaters to show em where they cant hide their failures
If it includes Rey, not interested.
This is where the hate begins
Personally, I rather happy watch Star Wars films only on the Prequel & Original Trilogy’s as well along side the Clone Wars show rather any of the newer stuff. I love Star Wars, but seeing it this way is unbelievably uninteresting.
I think this is a sign of progress; one creative mind setting up with three individual stories that is apart of one larger story.
I'm super excited for this! I can't wait to not see this trilogy and observe Disney\Lucasfilm waste millions of more dollars. The sooner they go bankrupt the sooner Lucasfilm gets sold to someone who will make good Star Wars.
Not everyones favourite character. My favourite female character would be Darth Zannah of course. Is that even a question?
My sources say it’s going to be a Palpatine redemption arc
Disney effing sucks man. No one wants this. wtf
God please no more Rey ahhhhh!
I didn't go see episode 9 in the cinema, won't be going to see these.
