For summing In-the-Box , try NLS or Sonimus channels. Find one that works on your favorite track, for example on the drums and bass. I like putting it first in the plugin chain, but you can do it last. Then you can incorporate the analog drive to your liking and it creates a similar vibe.
I am mixing with outboard hardware aswell. I use the Ferrofish A32 Dante as my AD DA converters. this allow me to skip the patchbay and i can hardwire everthing. even in the future i could expand with more converters via dante. And i can use my hardware just like plugins due to the ISR poiints in protools. That setup is realy great.
26:57 Devon it seems you’d need the Gig performer 5 software and create a new mixer 8-channel in the outputs or a new Rackspace and then place a GP relayer(send) from the rackspace in Gig, into the new GP relayer(receive) in your daw as an input and recollect the data from your plugins. Hope I’m making sense here lol but just know that you can have up to 10 relay GP relayers in both your Daw and GP5 software. Been trying it out myself but my 2019 8gb ram MacBook Pro can’t handle it. So when I do upgrade, it’s game on lol. 💯 #FavoritePodcast🎧
Motu 16A or other Motu is the best for analog heads. Plenty of I/O and with AVB the expandability is seemless and easy if and when you should need to. And although you're could try your best to make the case to accomplish similar or comparable results with plugins vs your analog gear - the summing is where the digital game gets murdered on the battlefield. I still feel like analog compression is also the other biggest improvement over digital but i feel when you were talking about "wanting" to go in the box and then you referenced "OFFLINE BOUNCING" and im like yeah...lol... That is a huge drag and a time suck but hey the end result always makes me smile 😊
Ash is nasty, and Ocean is a sneaky underrated plugin lowkey. If you have the CPU, you can't beat the sound of some of their stuff if I'm honest. But workflow and CPU is such a strong factor that unfortunately its worthless to even try to load their plugins up unless you are just mastering a stereo file. In that case you can maybe get 2 or 3 up there before your computer self-destructs lol.
Y’all need some cargo joggers with the logo on the back pocket as well! It’ll be mad fire!!! 🔥 love the episode yall know how to set the vibes and keep us engaged! @mr.niice
produce like a pro did a shootout with the WA-1B and the CL-1B. Unlike some of the other warm audio hardware clones that have a definite sound difference, the WA-1B is so close its basically imperceptible, and for a 5th of the price; i don't see the benefit spending the extra 4 grand for a home studio
@@SweataWeatha yessssirrr u know the vibes bro bro. keep putting on for the image line camp bro. we right here with you every step of the way. BIG INSPIRATION & by the way we need some vocal mixing updates for fl studio 2024 💯
@@ZAY________ he uses/used 1 piece of hardware inserted on the mix bus called the SPL machine head, which was a rack mount, digital tape emulation unit. Completely digital. Digital I/O and digital processing. Everything else they do is in the box. All the individual channels and the rest of their mix bus. No analog gear used at all. Serban’s assistant John Hanes has confirmed this on that gearspace forum about Serban’s mixing. No summing, no analog, no nothin. And, Make Believe studios came out with a plug-in emulation of the Machine head, and Hanes said that they’ve switched over to using the plug-in now, so now they’re 100% in the box.
Mixing - Nah. Inside all the way. Mastering - Depends on preference TBH. With the investment needed to make it worth it, you can get a space station of a computer with plugins that are FULLY capable of no compromise, high-level mastering results.
all credit is debt u can't build credit without debt . read the left hand side of any paper money... dont be afraid of that Sweetwater payment plan!! great way to build credit PAY THEM THEY MONEY! DONT PLAY WIT IT
WHy is this even a "debate"? 90 percent of "getting it right" is ITB/in-the-box...... 10 percent is mastering ITB or OTB (choose wisely in either domain)... Next video.
Devon you always have these great conversation starters and Lj always takes over and makes it about him it’s super frustrating to watch. Ur clearly the oldest and the most knowledgeable and people wanna hear your opinions and thoughts the most, I just feel like lj goes on these long irrelevant tangents that are just kinda ruining the episode…
Maybe I can post my comment now that I can see it… First time commenting and been a follower of HMD since I restarted my mixing journey a month ago. With no funds I’ve come across a patreon guy that emulates a lot of older hardware by the name of Analog Obsession. Have you guys come across or heard of this brand? Other reputable mixers like the plugins but I’d like to hear y’all’s take on it. Shany_p89
LJ playing the long game to inherit a piece of gear from a man about to die is so diabolical 🤣💀
Odeee
Mannn 😂😂😂
You guys gotta get In The Mix on the show, that guy has been making so many tip videos in such a professional way, he'd be a great guest
Bro he definitely provides amazing content plus LJ might like him since he a Fruity User 🥕

Dev did violate doing the DAW comparison without the boys 😂
I’m hella late to these episodes but this podcast is by far the best on TH-cam for the audio community 🫡

The HMD Reverb should be called the Double R as in Rosetta Reverb.
American musical supply been doing monthly no credit check payments for at least 15 years. Thats where I've always got my gear from.
y’all should pan the vocals of each person slightly left, center, right depending on where y’all are sitting.

Serban Ghenea mixes 100% in the box. That’s all I need to know.
Actually I just heard that isn’t true, he actually does use hardware. Possibly saw it on George T Music
