I loved my analog gear but had issues with audio dropping when leaving the DAW and going back in, for that - it just became too costly for 5% difference in sound lol
Most slept on plugin right now, AIR Flavor pro. Replaces RC-20, Izotope Vinyl, Speaker emulation plugins and more! Crazy cuz I never used AIR plugins before now.
Using analog for "going out and in" makes is sounds like it's a lot of work but the same way that you open a plug-in and use it, if your interface is ran in and out of your hardware gear and back into the interface, its the same thing. Whether you turn the plug-in knob or turn the knob in real life... it's not any extra work aside from the initial setup.
MPC 37 is standalone too. But it can be run in controller mode. I used to use FL for everything, now I only use it for recording and mixing. The MPC is legit, don't let nobody lie to you.
Softube Weiss MM-1 is my most important plugin for masters and nobody mentions it. I could mix a whole song with it and an eq. Gulfoss is also the best eq it’s automatic like wavesfactorys eq. Silencer is the best plugin for reverb it works with most reverb plugins but it does a whole bunch of Shit that makes the reverb duck immediately. It works with literally every reverb mentioned in this episode and also has a sidechain mode
an Audio Ad that used to always crack me up, is the Arcade Ad. Brother in the black jacket with the heart on it sounds so sarcastic when he says: "...ARCADE??!... soo _THATS_ amazing..."
The Beatskillz Samplex is heavily underrated, I use it on my master a lot, just makes everything sound like a record, and it does it in a very transparent way. Could you do a video on bitcrushing and/or downsampling plugins?
Devvon bro you are sleeping on rewire between fl n protools... i rewire my drums from fl to protools in my session and then do the same with serato ... it takes abit longer but once you have it setup in a template its super fast n good to go.. just my 2c
LJ would you ever use a physical pedal to affect a vst like keys or something like that? I’m debating making a dedicated channel in FL just to run whatever track just to scroll through different effects.
Harrison released a channel strip that I believe is a game changer called the MPC Channel Strip....However I got it at the intro price....now...I want to say it may literally be the most expensive plugin out ... but it's serious....Has anyone ever seen this and copped it at the intro price when they dropped it like I did?
Nowadays I think outboard gear is more important for recording than mixing. I use outboard for vocal chains and I have more analog gear I want less midi tracks in my final products eventually everything will be analog. But I think LJ is the type of producer that a slate raven makes sense for.
I need a recommendation from my Hip Hop producers here. I've been trying to find a bass plugin that specifically has great bass presets for Hip Hop. I recently bought Substance by Output. Great VST but most of their presets are very much for EDM. I often have to tweak them for a while before I can use them in my production. I have Massive and I haven't been able to find a pack with Hip Hop bass presets. Any recommendations is appreciated. Ableton user here.
Loopmaster bassmaster will give you all the cookie cutter bass sounds. Kontakt's scarbee bass is #1 when it comes to "real" bass in hip hop and analog lab by arturia also has great bass presets
Manipulator (always over alter boy or any format shifting or vocal fx) PanMan by soundtoys. Amazing. Does what it says. Works in dozens of ways. Doublr by waves. GOES ON EVERY SINGLY VOCAL MIx! Unlimited width effects and modulation. Awesome simple plugin
I've gone back to real writing and producing. I feel using loops and samples and sounds from a platform that everyone uses, is unauthentic at best. It may sound good but I cant take credit for it. Yo you sound like everybody else. I feel in my musical soul I'm cheating. Now I'm back to pulling records and make sounds and use sounds authentic to who I am. It has totally opened my sound and given me my own vibe. Plugins are cool but be careful not to lose yourself in that process because you may not be able to find your way back.
Nah, spectre is more like an equalizer/saturator. When you boost the bands it will add saturation & volume to the selected frequency range instead of just volume like a normal eq. Btw it's one of my most used plugins, definitely recommend it if you like saturation plugins
Na Devvon ain’t wrong with the sample chops. He was getting to the same destination a different way. I think he meant he’s just letting the grid chops set up and then moving or adjusting the chops as needed from the grid positions. Just gives him a starting point…. I think lol
Nectar has had autotune for about 5 years now Gz and yeah speakers are magnets for sure. Once LJ gets his first MPC, it’s up he will be standalone producing by 2025😂
I get @LJean1 23:10 LJ's producer stand-point workflow is more focused on creating the song with as little ''mixing'' need it on it as possible. These kind of producers will just be looking for the best sounds, ''creative fx plugins'' and instruments that they can get their hands on. They focus on sound selection, heavily. Doing this, avoids them having to sit and mix an 808's that doesn't slap or a piano that sounds generic/cheap or a guitar that sounds dull or a synth that sounds corny. Hit-Boy works like this. And it's normal at the beginning or intermediate stages as a music producer to just produce in the box. It's easier, things can move quicker, with a laptop you can work anywhere, it's also super inexpensive and doesn't take any space. There are millions of tracks out there that has been made like this and the sonics are hitting on point. But you also have another millions of songs made by these kinds of producers and after producing the beat/instrumental they send it to a Mixing Engineer to give the track even more extra life to it. But later on every music producer will eventually can get exposed to some gear that will make them go ''holy crap'' the same Keyscape piano iv'e been using for 3 years sounds 100x better going through this Neve or Dangerous bus+ gear''. Or they''ll message the mixing engineer that mixed their track saying ''yooo broo how did you make this thing sound so good?'' @HelpMeDevvon 's producing style is more like a multitasker when producing cause he's doing a lot of in the box-out the box mixing while simultaneously producing the track or right after producing the track. @Eestbound works like this also. It's simply because they're veterans, they've listened, experienced and in general know so much more. That's why they work like this. But it could also just be a preference at the end of the day. Everybody's got their way of making music in the end and that's fine👍
14:40 izotope nectar has autotune and effects. Neoverb has reverb. If you need more sauce there’s stutter edit and trash. Not to mention audio repair with rx. Izotope has it ALL!
If u're on Mac, set up a mixed input in your Audio-Midi-Setup and select your multiple interfaces. Then simply select that 'mixed input' in ur daw - now u have access to multiple interfaces.

Thank you guys for including Safari Pedals in this video.!
Love you guys.! :)
Izotope & FL Studio are UNTOUCHABLE when paired together. I truly feel like it's not even an opinion anymore. 🎶🤘

I love it too
Devvon! my man, thx, got the bx_XL V2 sitting there and you've just given me a reminder to check it out!! dope ep guys!
The crazy part is how old that plugin is 🤦🏽♂️
There should be a multiband compressor where you can change each band to a different type of compression. Opto at 100hz, fet at 8k hz, etc.
Oooh this idea is fire!
Mcdsp 6034 does that I think
I think Izotope has this in Neutron IIRC
Man I’m getting so much gems from the audionerds! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥

Funny how the “Congratulations! The chords are already there for you” ad shows on this video 😂😂😂
I just saw the ad for the first time the other day. It was hilarious!
Space Rider Reverb (Waves) is amazing... its like instant Weeknd vocals..
Hmm interesting imma peep
MPC 37 is standalone too. But it can be run in controller mode. I used to use FL for everything, now I only use it for recording and mixing. The MPC is legit, don't let nobody lie to you.
Thanks for the best 💎of this episode - using several different reverbs in a song!

Thanks for the shout out on Momentum that was huge. I've recently been debating pulling the trigger on Serato, and now I don't have to.
Momentum is crazy

ayyyy best bday present let’s go
Aye!! happy bday!!
So glad momentum is getting talked about. I’ve been using it for years. Lowkey might be better than serato sample 🙈
On a separate note I think DAWs should allow producers to use multiple audio interfaces even if the audio interfaces are from different companies
If u're on Mac, set up a mixed input in your Audio-Midi-Setup and select your multiple interfaces. Then simply select that 'mixed input' in ur daw - now u have access to multiple interfaces.
What is Nam you guys keep mentioning?
Audio event I think in LA
