Firepower wise, the saviour is only lacking the xiphas railgun. It's mobility should be superior or at least equal to the freedom in the atmosphere. Savior is Ultra Battery Compact because Zaft was being cheap or didn't have the resources to replace 2 separate NJC units. _So the output comparison should be maybe 1/3_ but a laser is a fucking laser, and because it's Athrun, he would've compensated for the inferior suits power by just doing what he does best, clutching harder than Dom Toretto in a Street race. ~ So the likely scenario is: _Freedom chases Savior & Savior uses fighter mode to create distance, fending off an aggressive Freedom. While they both twirl & zip in the air like fucking birds, shooting at each other & missing because they're both smart enough not to get hit. As new lore was update, all second stage Gs now inherited basic performance of Justice and Freedom. That means they have the same mobility, speed, reaction speed etc... minus the nuclear drive and certain special features such as multi-lock. Also, the Vajra beam sabers are stated to be more powerful than the Lacerta ones that FD and JT used.

Basic performance, they should be comparable. But I'd say Savior is the only one that's truly as fast or faster than Justice and Freedom, since it's the suit that's specialized for flight. Force Impulse and Chaos probably aren't as fast, but they shouldn't be that slow either. Needless to say, Abyss and Gaia don't even have enough thrust to fly, although tbf they're made for different environments.

I respectfully disagree. The reason why Kira gets his beam spam is precisely because of the nuclear reactor. He can just keep firing the beams again and again as long as the cannons don't overheat. It's PS armor should also be stronger because of the nuclear reactor, it can take a lot more beatings and almost never power down. If saviour, impulse, or abyss try to do freedom's repetitive, and stock-footage level incessant beam spam like Kira did in seed, the suits must go back to recharge again and again. So pilots must also be thinking of conserving energy while fighting. The point of a stronger beam saber and beam rifles in mobile suit combat is not significant unless the upgraded version can cut or shoot through antibeam shields. Justice's shield in seed can with stand forbidden's and raider's red beam of death. I don't think the upgraded rifles and savers can get through the antibeam shield of freedom, the same goes for the upgraded red beams of saviour, abyss, chaos, and impulse. The red beam of death still shoots through anything in its path and will probably tear holes on colonies The same way the inferior Agni did. To be honest, I think that the upgrade to the red beams of death on battery powered suits should be energy efficiency without sacrificing too much power. At least we know that these suits are intended to perform as well as or even superior to the justice and freedom under ideal circumstances where energy is not a concern.

The biggest reason was Shinn being the worst protagonist of the SEED series. He's a combination of a young Kamille Bidan, Kira Yammato, and Yzak Joule in a very bad way.

Athrun got a lot of the better mobile suits in SEED. Also, do stuff from Stargazer, because that's the one truly good animated SEED entry.
