Proving real Spider-Man swinging is possible

- I built my own real webshooters that allow me to swing like Spider-Man. I think it's the world's first real, continuous swinging without any external aids. Pretty cool!

Here's that Spider-Man Web video I made with the Hookchain and stunts: • Making Spider-Man's We...
And the grappling gun: • Real working Grappling...
These webshooters might not look like the ones you're used to; I made them this way because they're fully functional and let me swing using nothing but them and myself - no harness, nothing. But they do look funny.
At least I made my own costume like Peter Parker in Spider-Man homecoming ;)
Big thanks to the folks Rush Trampoline park for allowing me to turn their space into a Spidey training facility :)
Check them out here: www.rushsa.co.za/
Thanks also to Spudfiles.com for their great breadth of info on "hybrid" launchers.
This video's verse: Judges 20:16 - I've run out of Spider-Man puns now, so this is just about some heroic slingers of another kind.

What people fail to realize is that Peter has enhanced strength allowing him to do things with the webs others don't have the strength to. Like web zips, Peter has to pull really hard especially with gravity pulling on his as he falls. Pulling forward and jumping off his webs is something only Peter can do because of his strength. Humans can probably only swing at an arbitrary speed
Still this video is amazing, the closest I could see a real spiderman

It’s the kind of thing that’s silly but also could have some real life application as this is a pretty damn good real life grappling hook haha
Really hope he doesn't get crazy thesis examiners
I mean, this is engineering-their whole student base is nerds
It may not be a great method of transportation, but a portable climbing hook that you can wear on your belt can be the difference between life and death in a lot of situations.
I see it especially useful for rescue work for example.
Science is science you can never go too far or overthink
What I love about this guy is that this is a guy who is actually going out there and working hard to be the real embodiment of a superhero. Not just making cool stuff because he can afford it to make videos to make money. This guy is actually doing it
Mmmeeeehhhhhh I'd say the first step in becoming a real super hero is "helping those in need" and while this video doesn't show him not-doing it, it certainly doesn't show him doing it either. Let's not confuse "superhero" and "professional inventor" here.
Edit: not taking anything away from the video or the guy in said video. Both are still awesome and impressive.
@@borgulshant5463 I have to say I agree ;) We do our best
Super cool design! I think if you want to swing more like Spidey, you need to let go of the first handle right after shooting out the 2nd one, and the hook will hopefully engage as you fall.
TRY THIS PLEASE
Hey folks, sorry this one took a while. This project had by far the most 'hidden' work I've ever faced - just tasks to slog through that don't even make for interesting video content. But I'm pretty pleased with the result! And I hope you really enjoy the video, so that it was worth all that time I put in haha
yes
It’s all good!
yeah, it’s good!
proud of ya
Why not have the other cylinders be strapped on the inward facing side of you forearm so that it's quick access?
The third swing seems more of a confidence issue then a technical limitation. Spidey has 100% faith in his strands, so you might need to let go of the first hook ASAP and just KNOW the 2nd hook is in place so that you can immediately reach for the 3rd as soon as you feel the momentum.
yeah it kinda comes down to timing in that way. he just needs a bigger training space to bring in more swinging action
Plus spidermans spidey sense plays a pretty big role in his web swinging.
dude, do you see how his arm and shoulder were getting so much pressure
i don't think that is about confidence, that shit could lead to some real injury
The tension forces that web swinging would generate would tear a limb apart. There's a reason Spider-Man is superhuman.
@@456MrPeople yeah. Also the web has some give and elasticity to stretch and lessen the extreme deceleration though too

I love it! One problem I see is that each swing brings you lower to the ground, one big reason you had a poor distance/angle for the 3rd web to grip. Spider-Man has the strength to build incredible momentum keeping him at the same altitude or even gaining altitude. Taking into account our low efficiency I think it would be totally possible to keep swinging if each anchor spot was lower than the last.
that second swing is always so cool to watch, can't wait to see you get a third

It's like a liquid cement
@@Sanpaku-san Its not cement but more of a strong glue. If it were cement even a fast drying one it would just be stiff and heavy which would work against him. From what I've read its closer to nylon. Not trying to say anything offensive just letting you know what I've read. But Spider-man has used cement in his webbing to beat villains like Hydro man.

3D printing tip: Orientation matters. I don't know if part of your redesign was changing it, but one of the main reasons your first end cap tore apart is because the orientation put the layer lines parallel to the force axis. Printing 90 degrees to where you expect the force can often make the print harder, but the strength of the part will be much greater.

I think the key is for it to be retractable, like a grappling hook. So if you built two of them, one for each hand, you could theoretically "web" sling
