Good night, that's an amazing curry. It's really looking delightful. You have given great tutorials on everything that you have prepared and presented..you are one fine cook ❤❤❤🙏👍🏽✌️🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾💯💯✔️✔️
I always watch every roti video that comes out so I can get better at making them. I appreciate and enjoy how you make it. It's very clear. Good stuff.
Brings back memories of my grand mother making this for me and my cousins to take on our school outing each year. We’d look forward to this food as much as the different places we were scheduled to see. For a girl from the bush going to the city for an excursion, it was always a joyful and memorable occasion.
Thanks so much for sharing you skill and recipes. I made this for dinner tonight and it was wonderful. I have never mastered the art of making dhalporie. This is a game changer for me. Your presentation is fantastic so smooth and patient. I live in a part ofthe UK where I would have to travel two hours to get a proper roti. Finally I can make a proper roti. ❤❤❤
I am a South African mum. In a month’s time we are visiting our son in Croatia for three months. He follows a Mediterranean diet. I have already put aside all my spices that I’m taking with me. 😂 First time seeing your channel, I am your newest subscriber ❤️
Hi Ria,love your channel.i ‘m also Afro Trini and grew up in the south so do enjoy making all these different curry my mom showed me how to make all these curry dishes, now teaching my daughter as she love curry Chana with plain Roti. She is getting very good @ these dishes.
Thank you so much. I'm glad I e ran across this channel 😊🎉🎉❤❤blessing to you. Step by step it's so wonderful very patient..it took me back to my spiritual..mum..🎉❤
Good afternoon sister Ria, blessings. Hope you had a wonderful week. I love, love, love curry chicken, goat mutton or beef. Thank you for always sharing such great food. Have a great weekend and stay safe. Shalom 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾
All I can say yum yum I need some ❤ Memories of the days my mom and I and sister...on a Saturday making and eating ....and grind the peas toasting the geera seeds and the house smells so good...my favorite smell.. Thank u for your video my lady you are the greatest 💕❤️
OMG!! Ria this brought back memories from after school when I'd pass by the roti shop and get a dhalpourie roti with curry chicken! Donkey years ago I might add lol. I have to try and make this! ❤
YESSS for sanitizing your sink and counter (if it got splashed) afterward!!! ❤❤❤Just get a spray bottle fill 1/4 of the bottle with bleach and top with water OR buy the clorox spray that's shown. 5 mins on the counter and sink and wipe off, rinse your cloth and wipe area. There's also the clorox wipes but don't forget to wipe off with your damp cloth after. It's so very important guys. Oh and NOT microfibre, J cloth or A cloth whatever they call it now. Many thanks as always Ria.
Ria never disappoints, always showing the proper way to cook a traditional tasty dish. I will try this , I picked up a Victoria food mill for grains and meat. It takes time but the good flavor comes through with experience along with trial and error.
Watching your food gets my family hungry. They love your style of cooking. I have noticed Ria in canada the roti is stiff is it because it's cold or the flour need to be more soft. Please any tips would help. Thanks❤❤❤
Thanks so much for this Rita, I cant wait to try to myself. What sort of flour did you use for the roti? and what's the name (brand) of the different curry's you use? Also where did you buy your roti stone and paddle? Can you do a tutorial on different types of chutneys (i.e. mango, tamerine etc ...) and pepper sauces? sorry for all the questions, I want to get it right :D abundant thank you xoxox
I learned how to make a lot of Trinidadian dishes from my son‘s grandmother. That’s also from Trinidad as I go to yours and look at yours yours look amazing. Because she’s no longer here I can’t ask her. I noticed that the recipe is similar, but you add different touches as well so is that because you’re from a different part of Trinidad she’s from San Fernando.
Wow!!! This looks delicious! Thank you for your clear explanation. It brings back so many wonderful memories of the past. When my mother and older sisters were in the kitchen making this whole dish. I am Surinamese and I live in the Netherlands. We have many of the same dishes, but we make them slightly different. Which two curry powders exactly do you use for the chicken?
Happy Easter to you and the family, I used your recipe for dhalpurie and the taste was amazing ,that was my first time and I did it with my sister ,but I will prepare the dhalpurie in stages in future
Hi Ria, thank you so much for this recipe! I was wondering what the metal tool is called, the round flat one where you cook your roti? Would it work on a non-stick pan? Thank you!! I bought the ingredients and would like to make it!
OMG I'm having a fit over here. i am seriously craving roti right now, then i run across this video. Where i live there is no CARIBBEAN food within about 50 miles. When you showed us the finished Roti i started drooling 😊
Fun fact! Trinidad and Tobago, and Mauritius have the same cuisine! I thought dholl puri was available only in Mauritius!! Coming to Canada and eating in a Trinidadien restaurant I was amazed by the similarities that our foods have! Yes! Curried chicken & dholl puri is good :P But you should try "dholl puri, gros poids (lima beans)" in Mauritius. It is 100% veg and very good as well. There is a restaurant which in Toronto which sells the Mauritian dholl puri and the veg curries!
As usual, great video. Authentic Trinidadian food. One small observation: When the chicken is out into the hot oil and curry it is not "chownkay", it is "bhoonjay". It comes from the Urdu word "bhuna" which means "fried". Plase do not regard this as a criticism but as a language correction.
I have the same grinder and I put it on the strip of counter right above dishwasher. I also had to have alit of patience to put it together. The circular grinder needs tightening. Order to get a fine grind.
14:55. The supermarket chickens in the US have absorbed water and release upom cooking. Interesting that in some other countries its less processed (better). Also here in US we're paying for water. Thanks for your excellent content. Can't wait to make this.🙌🙌💯
Ok, I have the curry down pat lol...now the roti. I live in the Virgin Islands and have plenty Trini friends. One asked how my curry tasting like a Trini teach me😂😂😂
This not fair I want one but I live in Texas ugh the agony I must try your recipe but where can I get the seasoning you added to the potatoes I can get everything else but what is the name of those seeds one look like sunflower seed and pumpkin seed
Food mills workpon bigger stuff, than split peas is far too small, you need stuff the size of gapes or just smaller like onions. Better have a grater stand or bench than a table as they would be more stable.
You using a low heat takes longer but using the lid and keeping te heat low makes tghe chiken cook to really favourful and tender curry, that falls off the bone.
Good night, that's an amazing curry. It's really looking delightful. You have given great tutorials on everything that you have prepared and presented..you are one fine cook ❤❤❤🙏👍🏽✌️🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾💯💯✔️✔️

Recipe.
????
3 Cups of flour is 360 gms
1.25 Cups of water is 300gms
That's 83% hydration which is too high for Roti.
