I met a guy here in NZ that has a TZ250 5KE sitting in his lounge, its still in the white gel coat it came from the factory and has never even been started, he still has the spares kit it came with! We met because he also has a large collection of rare 2 stroke road bikes, including a 1990 TZR SP 3MA, and the almost mythical 1990 Kawasaki KR-1R, SP/C3A, and i have a 96 TZR SPR 3XV😄

Very, very nice. Thank you. I go back to TD2 and TR2's, never raced them but watched a lot of races with them in it. I simply love those 2-stroke racers!
In retrospect, I fully understand why the Europeans would bring up their youngsters through the ranks this way. The overall racing education I received by doing that was game changing! LOVE ME SOME SMOKERS !!!🤘🏻

One of my mates has a 5KE,he used to race 125's in the BSB support class.Over here we get to see the 250's race in the Classic TT every year.
I was lucky enough to be allowed a few laps of a small UK circuit on one of these in the late 80's. I had a tuned YPVS so thought the TZ would be no problem. Wrong. Very wrong. That thing felt like it actually wanted to kill me. It was fantastic.
Got an '89 Pepsi Suzuki RGV250 VJ21 in a shop near me in Tokyo for about $17K (¥2,000,000). I saw it 2 weeks ago when they let me in the back to see it as it was partially disassembled waiting on some parts, as you can imagine are difficult to find.
Awesome to see a fresh TZ250 video up. Nice bike! (I am also a lucky and happy owner of a 5KE in working order). I had to laugh when I saw the 900ss in the background of your workshop. Hey Dan! We had some issues in warmer weather trying to keep the bike in a reasonable heat range. Even had the front fender off to try to help. This radiator is from RTM Imola & it’s pretty big compared to the stock one! As far as the battery, I tried to find something like the stock one but it was pretty expensive and hard to get so I swapped to the smallest one that BS battery makes. Super lightweight. Seems to work great so far!
You'd be hard pressed to find ANYTHING that could run with a 250 GP bike on tight to moderately fast tracks. Those things go through corners like a cat on carpet!

The TZ250 was on sale to the public in the 1970s and 80s. It was intended only for racing, it was not suitable or legal to use on the road. It cost about one and a half times the price of the RD250 road bike, with which it shared some parts although it was very different in some ways (water cooling long before the RD250 got this, a dry clutch, and engine lubrication by adding oil to the fuel rather than by an injection system). There used to be 250 races in which all or most of the bikes were TZ250s, since there was no other 250 available to the public that could equal its performance. The engine gave in the region of 60bhp.
A better option would be the tyga fairing unles you have some 03+ bodywork just laying around. The carb orientation on the vj22 is also incompatible with airbox routing on a TZ.
