I'm 70 years old and even today I ride my Kevin Schwantz replica Suzuki RGV 250 in Pepsi livery. It conjures up the glory days of motorcycle GP racing. Those guys shaped my motorcycle passions and the memories they created are forever.
@@acura1815 Thanks. This is actually my 2nd RGV. I had the original Pepsi Schwantz version in 1989. I sold it at some point and always regretted it. I just found a very nice one about 2 years ago and snatched it up. Its now near perfect. ($$$$) I even had a custom leather jacket made in the Pepsi livery. I just rode it this morning and there is absolutely nothing like a 2 stroke v-twin in its powerband. :-) Mine is stock so only about 60hp but a very thrilling 60hp! Many other bikes in my garage but this one is now a "keeper".
Very cool man i love 2stroke bike too! Low weight but high power! Some special old bikes have more "spirit" than a big lot of new bikes, there drive good but its no feeling,no sound i wish have have many many years time and healty to ride your dream bikes!! Sorry for my bad english best wish Reiner from Germany
Especially Schwantz with his aggressive overtaking and braking tactics, the one he used versus Rainey in those legendary battles. It was always a treat seeing Rainey and Schwantz duking it out on the racetrack.
The man who created this and brought these great guys together and got Wayne back on that bike has brought a huge amount of emotional pleasure to thousands of people around the world and deserves a gold medal.
I think it was not one there make it real, there are many people there work for this dream for him!and us to see this fantastic ride from a hero! Sorry for my bad english best wish Reiner from Germany
For Wayne Rainey's family, this is an emotional moment, for his son, who was only a baby when his father suffered that devastating injury in '93, he now saw what his dad was in his prime. For Danny Pedrosa, it has to be a fanboy moment, riding with all those legends... this will be a treasured memory for the rest of his life.
I was a big Mick Doohan fan but seeing Wayne Rainey crash that day in Misano was so heartbreaking...and to see him on a bike again, that was so so special!!! God bless
Wayne Rainey inspired me to get out of my wheelchair and on to a Mini bike. I have primary progressive MS and cannot walk at all and have very little control over my body but, Wayne did it and so did I! Thank you Wayne for your inspiration!!
Kevin had me glued to the TV. We were so blessed to grow up seeing these guys. Biking has not been the same since these guys. Raw biking, power bands and balls. No stability control, ABS or electronic suspensions soft racing these days. Those guys are Legends thanks for bringing them together brought back great memories.
That bought tears to my eyes, what a wonderful idea a special moment, I've now got recorded, thankyou so much Duke of Richmond and all those people who must put in so much work at goodwood, absolutely brilliant.
King Kenny Roberts was and always will be my Hero! I followed him from the 70s all the way through his career. I even bought new in 1984 a RZ500 Yamaha which was the closest thing to feeling like Kenny (on the Streets) back then. The Suzuki RG500 Gamma was another bike I owned back then that was a (street version) of what Swantz, Mamola road. Both were fun bikes, Nothing close in Power to the true race bikes the Heroes in the video rode, but gotta love the Two Strokes. These guys had the biggest Balls of them All with no back pressure that a 4 Stroke has to help slow you down in turns, and when "On the Pipe" was far beyond a Turbo like power, it felt like your arms were going to be ripped off!!
absolutely fantastic - I m 61 and those guys have been the ones everyone was looking to - Im a Yamaha fan and it is a dream to see Wayne back on that bike - an icon on an iconic bike to me . just a wow moment of a life time . Wayne you might not realize that you have fans very far away . Hello from Port au Prince , Haiti .
The livery on that bike is so famous. Rainey on the bikes. Prost and Senna on the F1 cars. And here in Australia, Peter Brock in his Holden Toranas and Commodores V8 Touring race cars.
Lived in Italy as an ExPat American during his reign. Was fortunate to see him race at several tracks. Was heart broken when his career ended. Glad to see him back on that beast. The sound of those bikes launching was awesome. Very emotional for me and I'm sure for him.
I got into bikes & had my first bike, a 125cc in 1989 aged 17.. and these guys were a huge part of my motorcycling life. To see them all together like this, with Wayne on his YZR Yamaha.. Magical.
Thanks for posting this @MotoAmerica to see Wayne back on the YZR is so special to everyone old enough to remember these guys battling it out every other Sunday. Wayne Rainey is the GOAT in my opinion, he ruled the class when it was at its all time strongest, when the bikes were probably at their most difficult to ride, he dethroned a 4 time reigning champ in Eddie and he just never looked like letting the #1 plate go until that awful day at Misano. Massive respect to all those guys, if we’re all totally honest we’re just massive fanboys.!!!
Looking at these images is like stepping into a time machine...I only have one thing to say to whoever came up with this idea THANK YOU THANK YOU a million times...these images brought back memories
I`m 58 years old guy, and I ride three bikes, a Yamaha YZF 750, a Yamaha YZF 1000 Thunderace and a Suzuki GSX R 1000 K5. Every one has the "34" on its license plate....;-) I love all these phantastic riders!
To see Wayne on a bike again fills my heart with Joy! To see all the boys there too is a bonus that wasn't surprising but still played on the heart strings. Thanks Wayne! Wish Barry could be there too
I’ve been lucky enough to watch all these race in the flesh with the exception of Kenny Roberts and I will never forget those two first Phillip island 500 races. Impossible to pick the best of these guys, all huge talents regrettably hampered by injury. Incredibly lucky enough to meet Wayne at the 1995 500 Grand Prix at Phillip island and an absolute gentleman who had time for everyone despite all the memories brought back by being at PI. Met Kevin briefly at Melbourne and he is a nice guy too. What a buzz to see all these guys together again!! Love it
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for making this happen!!! These guys were my heroes back in the day!! I remember having Kenny Robert's poster on the wall of my room and watching these guys duke it out over, and over again! These four, and Fast Freddie Spencer. Too bad Freddie wasn't at Goodwood for this event... This was wonderful to watch!!
I remember chatting with Wayne at POCONO raceway in the 80's !!! he was riding the Kawasaki Superbike!!! I believe his # was 21 .great guy very approachable!! thanks Wayne !!!😀😀😀😀🏍🏍🏍🏍🏁🏁🍺🍺🍺
Just found this video and it really brings back such good memories. Went to Donnington between 1989 to 1993 and watched these guys ride against each other ❤ always sat at Craner curves and remember it like it was yesterday. So glad they all got to do it again, all heroes to me.

The V4 2 stroke era 1981-2001 was a stunning generation for motorcycle racing you had legends such as Spencer, Lawson, Garnder, Rainey, Schwantz, Doohan, Crville, Biaggi and of course the GOAT Valentino Rossi. I also love how Dani Pedrosa tagged along with them too I mean why not he is also a fellow legend and world champion It was fantastic to see Rainey back on that bike again along with his great rivals but also great friends I think Kevin and Wayne might have had the greatest rivalry in the sport

2 stroke 500cc no electronics, no abs, no traction control almost nothing but bare raw power.

These were the most incredible days of racing. Wayne, Mick, Kevin, Randy, Kenny. It’s history and those guys will live on forever.

Seeing these legends and motorcycles in general getting their due respect really makes me smile. Listening to their banter is great
This is something I thought I'd never see again. The battles Doohan, Rainey, and Schwantz had back then were the stuff of legends.
As a disabled biker it made my heart sing to see Wayne back on a bike. And in the company of those other great stars.... priceless.
I hope you will get this opportunity one day too...
God bless.
