TZ 250s can really haul ass and carry corner speed so much easier than all the heavier bikes. They are purpose-perfect road race machines. 30 years ago, about when Freddie Spencer got famous in F2 GP racing, it was really fantastic with close dicing, very high cornering speeds and great sounds! Same thing later with the Euro greats like the Doctor 46 - he rode and even looked better on the bike than everyone else, a real world beater on those F2 250s.
I'll never forget in 1988 after taking a test ride on a V-Max and telling my motorcycle mechanics teacher how bad it was..the way he laughed at me and told me "Boy you don't know what a motorcycle is until you've seen a TZ-250 in action". This being the first video I've ever seen of one in action I find myself wishing I still had contact though if he's still alive he probably has a playlist of them that play over and over to put himself to sleep with. Damn what a bike
Got to love a TZ250-sold my ‘92D back in 2007 and still regret it-watching this brought back happy memories of showing guys on 1000cc bikes what a proper 250 GP bike could do-especially on a tight track.......
Tz 250 is NOT a toy. It’s a big shame they killed all the 2 stroke classes. Nowadays 2 strokes ( like power boat direct injection engines) are cleaner as 4t heavies. Bring back the f’n strokers now.
There is a real possibility that THEY will bring two strokes back. F-1 is allready experimenting on two stroke injectioned emgines for 2024-2025 year, if f-1 will moto gp will definately bring them back to.
TZ 250 track weight 250-270 pounds. Short wheelbase, out turn and out brake 450 pound plus GSXR. As we saw in the video it acceleration is on par with GSXR. To bad people have to race on street bikes instead of race bikes.
Power to weight ratio and nimbleness - I remember my mates LC 350 when they first came out ; it was just mind blowing in its day, could eat pretty much anything in the right hands in the twisties.
The sound is such an antidote for the weak and mild mannered, that the acoustics resonates fear! It makes you weak at the knees! So much power at the self destruction level! Word!
I totally agree, there is nothing like tipping a TZ into a fast corner, no matter how hard I road my 99 I could feel the bike telling me "come on is that all you got-- you pu**y-- " A well set up TZ250 really proves Nikki's Haydens statement "The straights are for show and the corners for Dough"
Pure talent and a great choice for this very curvy track. Well done. As kenny roberts made clear, you don’t have to have the biggest displacement just the biggest balls.
Nicely sorted chassis and engine with power band from 8,000 to over 12,000. That’s pretty wide power band by TZ standards. The wider the power band the less they are likely to spit you off and send you into the shrubbery when they come on the pipe, IMHO. Nice!
Beautiful motorcycle a real race bike, anyone who hasn't rode a two stroke grand prix bike won't understand the art of riding it,especially that long left hander it looks like high side city on a two stroke, big four strokes are easier to ride,I have a 70s tz so am appreciating the video.

to be fair the 2 strokes do make cornering easier. a LOT. I've got an RGV250 and whilst it is no TZ race bike it is SO much easier and more flickable than my 600RR and 1000RR. Especially side to side transitions and the speed you can flick it onto its side. Not to take anything away from the rider though. You still need balls to pass on the outside and brake so late past everybody else. The lack of weight definitely helps though.
