    I have the same 1.4 d4d engine on a yaris it has done 200k miles on original dpf. Recently it was doing frequent regens. I cleaned the egr valve and took the dpf filter off the car and cleaned it lots of tiny chunks of ash came out its been running sweet since. If you don't use the correct engine oil which is 5w30 C2 or C3 the dpf will get blocked quickly.

      How easy is it to get the DPF off on these? And are the turbos easy to replace (although I guess being Toyota, the turbos should last well with regular oil changes)?

      I have the 2.2. I take my inlet manifold off annually and clean it out. It breathes through 4 small holes they get easily clogged and the car can’t breathe at all. When I first got the car it used to smoke heavily at lights white smoke like the car was on fire lol now it’s all clean and regularly maintained it’s been running like a dream the last 5 years. I got it on 121k it’s on 156k now. Most reliable car I’ve had

      @lint8391 As long as you have the correct tools It's not too bad I had to use a blow torch to get the bolts underneath the car to come off as they were quite rusty. Taking off the tray and wiper blades under the windscreen will give you complete access to the dpf and turbo.

    Thinkpad did not reset ash content either ,neither did other local garage,s nice Texa . Was stuck at 326% .
    After mucking about resetting everything multiple times with my xtool and autel . It moved to 100%. Added a bottle of wynns dpf cleaner to tank ,set a regen ,engine did not auto rev up ,so held it at 3k for 15 mins ,could smell soot burning off . After soot level down to zero . Dpf pressure differance went from 18kpa idle and 35 3k down to virtually zero at idle and 2 kpa 3k . Result 🤩

    Got one in today ,and super happy to see you have a vid on this as you are the man on dpfs . My autel maxis or my Xtool wont reset the soot matter either ,just hope my thinkpad does it after lunch ,or i need a mate with a launch . Love your vids ,they are always so informative and helpful , Cheers

    My daughter has just passed her driving test. I've been recommending to her that she gets a Toyota with the 1.4 diesel engine.

    • @frankkearney7174
      @frankkearney7174 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes my daughter has a 1.4 diesel a very good car just keep an eye on the oil level I'd suggest don't bring it up to the full mark Toyota seem to be a little sensitive it will trigger a code if it goes over full apart from that no issues .

    • @fanfeck2844
      @fanfeck2844 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless she does the miles I’d stay clear of diesel. Too many euro cheat devices on them just waiting to soot up

    • @lint8391
      @lint8391 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@frankkearney7174 Sounds like 2006 onwards Volvo D5 engines (plus I dare say quite a few others). Where the recommended oil fill level is 3/4's max. To allow for fuel seeping past the piston rings into the sump when doing auto DPF regens. What with it being a bad idea to overfill engines with oil (plus other fluids).

    Normal for Toyota temp gauges to sit just off centre when warm.

    • @lint8391
      @lint8391 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plus it will be a thermally efficient engine, what with it being a small diesel.

    These 1.4 d4d go into limp mode and will only get worse . On auto data . It tell you do disconnect pressure pipes on dpf to get it out of limp mode. Giving you more power as it tricks the ecu then a dry may help after . We have had them in and no matter what machines on them even a new dpf fitted will not reset engine light . I discovered a trick if you disconnect the main battery and the dpf pressure sensor . 90 percent of the time the fault will clear and data reset

    For LAUNCH info,aswell as user error, if it reads & says engine green, reread it as i have experienced GREEN engine but it has faults, went into engine ecu and codes were there, good info as normal 👍

    Hello Jimmy, I had the same issue with my d-4d corolla (basically the exact same car) with the dpf deterioration record clear not working. I turned on the manual dpf regeneration on my launch 919x tool, but the engine didn't rev up so I assumed that it wasn't working. After that my PM accumulation ratio went down to 70% (from 166%). my kpa values are 0.8kpa at idle to 3.5kpa at 3100 rpm (similar to your readings). Just wondering is the 70% PM accumulation ratio accurate here? Thanks.

    Jimmy, on a car that only does local short journey drives would a blast down a fast road every so often be a good thing?

    Jimmy is there any way you could go over a video on nox sensor . Im struggling to understand them and if they are reading right or wrong . And its frustrating we have sent cars to the dealer and they thrown nox sensors at them not fixing them id like to know my self how to tell a bogus reading or not thank you

    I've had a few of these toyotas that would not reset the dpf light on the dash. Figured out that they need battery off for 10 minutes then they'll reset first attempt

    • @renedescartes-ajouer8959
      @renedescartes-ajouer8959 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you just unplug the battery and replug it? my car has this problem and is currently at Toyota. Waiting to hear back. I worry they're going to recommend replacing the DPF which will be costly.

    • @danlovelock778
      @danlovelock778 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @renedescartes-ajouer8959 disconnect battery for 10 mins. Reconnect and then reset dpf values and clear faults with scanner.
      Obviously if it's blocked it will need to be cleaned.
