In this video we proceed repair of GTX 1070. It was diagnosed as memory and gpu failure. Gpu was bought used, but looked perfectly good for us (1 year old and it looks like its just been pulled from another working card). In repair process we were hoping 1.5V will appear after memory removal, but eventually ended up replacing driver too. After finishing work card was giving artifacts. First my suspicious lay on memory, but after once again memory reball card was doing same thing. Will wait for stencil, after that reball chip once more if it doesn't help - chip which been bought is defective.
Diagnostic on GTX 1070 • GTX 1070 broken, no vi...
holy cow....manual reballing .....wow this is hardwork!
real men with steel balls do manual re-balling.
He finds it "relaxing". RELAXING, CARL!!! I will destroy the whole room after 10 minutes of such "relaxation"! xD
Lol this is crazy
Having to do that would result in several table flips. This guy found his Zen.
You can always take your time doing it. Do a little take a break, come back later do some more, etc. If you do not have a stencil you do what you have to do.
It's an amazing job and you are awesome. A little bit of bad luck, but at least you got picture. I'm amazed at your manual reballing. Ciao.
It was interesting to see that you don't need a stencil, just some patience, good job!
Exactly! Manually reballing is epic! Great work buddy. All the best!
"It's just a soldering iron and some tinfoil -- how hard could it be?"
*Jumps off bridge*
Dude... manually taking the balls to their place.... RESPECT!
Jesus. You can’t be ever getting paid enough for this 😮 having a repair shop myself, i dont see the profit in spending hours and hours on such a video card. But still, lot of respect for you!!! Extreme skills you have…
I can't beige you recalled that chip without stencil INCREDIBLE!!! Well done sir.
20:00 for me it is faulty memory. I understand, that you checked them on other card before and that you did second memory reballing BUT three things - first, memory is more dedicated than gpu chip, it can simply die without a reason during regular good reflow/reballing process. Second thing -type of artefacts - too much symmetrical patterns, screen divided by stripes... When gpu make artefacts, they are not regular but random without any pattern and Third: If artefacts always look the same and they are repeatable -always appears in the same situation, then it means one of memory is bad. It is even logic. Let say that first memory is good here. Windows is loading files, when it tries to go to video mode - it need more video memory, and is start to using bad one which gives you artefacts. When memory is bad - then whole data appears with errors - artefacts are almoste everywhere. If gpu is bad - as i said - then artefacts is more random, not in the whole screen.
Anyway thank you for video.
BTW. Sometimes I'm also saying "please", then "yes" when I wait for a screen to appear after reflow or reballing job :)
GPU always splits data equally in memory chips for faster access. But yeah symmetrical arts are rather memory related. GPU arts are irregular dots or stripes.
Anyone know what would cause low voltage on the vRM reading .8V
@@mitchellfreeman8032 probably vrm
Man, you're absolutely amazing, I didn't really expect you to reball every single contact on that chip. That's simply astonishing. I love to see the amount of effort you put on what you're working on. Kinda sad it's making a lot of artifacts, I hope you can fix it :)
I do reballing stuff sometimes but first time I see manual reballing of big GPU like that. Respect man
7:22 Looks like 2 balls are shorted on the left side. But still its amazing, didnt know you can do reballing manually.
Yes, you are all eagle eyes! I also see it at the left middle side of the chip .
@@gdoene Mine? :D
@@gdoene Interesting
middle left
i see 3 balls
MAD SKILLZ BRO!!! Doing that by hand takes a lot of balls! You, sir, are baller!
much respect man i have just discovered your channel i hope you will reach 200k by end of 2021
Wow I cant belive you re-balled that whole chip by hand, damn man your awesome!
this is the craziest thing I have seen in a while. Kudos man.
OMG... what a professional!!! That reballing was f*** sick dude
holy shit. I had no idea this could be redone. just mind blown. Man you got mad skills and some serious focus. Im over here about to throw my GPU in the trash because ive been trying to rewrite it all day. then i go and watch this. dude please reach out.
Dude you got some hard earned skills
you got my respect, i do all my work only with eye and hand too but reballing ...
Great video
a lot of patience required for such delicate work
You my friend, are an artist. I have total appreciation for skilled hands and watching the results of that re-ball was incredible. Thank you for sharing it with us.
placing the soldering balls on free hands is amazing, this is respectable how you do this!
That manual reball was nuts, nice work
Manual reballing, you are Crazy dude BTW very very nice video
I can see that you did a basic diagnostics for the graphics card: Check the Vgpu, Vmem, at the output chokes. If there is no voltage, replace the drivers & (and MOSFET's) and the zero ohm fuses. If there are voltages, but no picture, replace chip or reball chip. Great video
This guy deservs 10M views bro dope shit ............ keep up the good work man.... awesome
mind blown with the manual reballing. that's amazing. i dont think id have the dexterity or patience to do that.
The best repair channel ever, THX Eli
this man harnesses modern engineering marvel with only his fingers and sounds like a highschooler. making me question purpose and meaning now.
Impressive work, I've done a few bits of basic surface mount soldering, I'd love to be as proficient as you!
This is beast level skill for sure...but why would anyone go through all this work, a new card would be cheaper considering the hours of labor involved.? Incredible video!
hello from 2021 :D
WOOOOW DUDE YOU'RE THE MOST PATIENT HUMAN I'VE EVER KNEW, EACH BALL AS BIG AS HAIR AND THERE'S THOUSAND OF THEM !
Glad you actually showed the end result even though it was not as expected..
Great job..
Damn, that's what you don't see everyday, a chip level repairing, and you're reballing it manually,
You got me with the music. I was trying to see how my music started playing again so I could mute it to watch your video :) (Good taste in music) and great work!
Wow thats crazy manualy reballing !!! respect from me!
Great job with that manual reballing! Really hard work!
I watched the whole part 1 and part 2. I like your music too! well played
Jesus you should be a surgeon with those steady hands.
Of course you must make a part 3 video, this is the essential and crucial.
Also some times you don't have to talk to customers what you would do next, you need to talk to your viewers what they think should you continue and fix even hardest faults.
You need to make yourself unbeatable to any faults and repairs.
One more thing, I remember on the begging of Louis Rossmann when viewers donated the donor boards and when they bought for him the chips, also you need to find connections in China for chips and boards. I suggest that you make longer videos, you will get more viewers and subscribers like Louis realized its not only about repairs, but its like connection to viewers. Maybe you could talk with Strange Parts maybe he could connect you to Chinese sellers of donor boards and parts in China.
Great choice in music, and amazing reballing skills!!!
This is next level of fixing up PC.. great job, and I hope you fix it 100% next time!
The Work you are doing is incredibil
This is spacecraft quality repair. AWESOME I wish I could have those skills!
Awesome job! Sometimes you do your best and even beyond but that's not enough. Good luck for the next one!
Fo.king nice work reballing is a hassle. Great video thank you so much , real nice work 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow!!! GREAT WORK!!! very impressive skills. i love the music btw...
reballing a gpu by hand is a nightmare.. god bless your patience..
All that work is insane. You are insane (in a very good way)
Oke seriously wtf. You are insanely skilled I'm very impressed that you got video output after all that holy shit.
I was rooting for you. Too bad it didn't work after the manual re-balling. I hope it works after the stencil.
Thanks for this great video!
Feels good to see that there are youngsters out there learning and doing electronics. =)
Keep on fighting.
Man! you are a true artist! thanks for this video!
Wow pretty impressive work reballing by hand that takes alot of patience.
your awesome man, the balls on you to re-ball that chip manually!
7:21 I think I can see a flaw. On the left there are 2 balls morphed into one big one. (sixth ball from the left and roughly in the middle from up/down)
yes you are Right.
this guy manual repballed a 1070 ....what a fucking legend
You're insane buddy! Manually reballing, don't you have any universal stencil? Wow, just WOW!
Very high respect from saarike.
"Ahssss~~~. That's something I'll let do if I had a younger brother " haha. Eli is fking awesome!!
WOW, Manually balling, damn son! thats hard work
next level dude! all that work
Manual re-balling on a modern GPU chip? That's crazy man huge props to your level of patience, even with a stencil its hard enough
edit- Just made it to the end, amazing work! Its like hardcore porn for electronics nerds, and you got the money shot despite the outcome, the chances of all those thousands of balls seating perfectly is part luck anyway.
yo man you freaking good learn alot from you love your youtube clips
3 hours foooook hats off to you my champ
manual one by one by hand this just insane and it will be really really really hardwork for me, awesome
Failure is a level up! You are always awesome man! Keep it up!
I'm amazed with your stady hands.
this is next level man bravo...!
Huge respect for that manual reball! And I would love to see if you can get this one working.
I couldn’t believe you recalled that chip by hand. It sucks that the card still doesn’t work.
Amazing work!
Can't help but wonder if this card is more or less expensive than a retail one by the end, hehe. Enjoyed watching you fix it!
Its so hard to remove all the problems on this cards..Even if you do your job PERFECT -theres still chance the GPU is faulty or the memory....
Please let us know if you get it running properly after the stencil re ball. It was so close...
Wow ! well done. A lot of work and sad to see that after all that it doesn’t work but well done.
Dude, Louis Rossman would hire you instantly.

Louis Rossman!
That's dedication 👏
Thank you again. Lots of work there. Sorry to see it not work out for the best. Maybe the chip you bought was already faulty
Nice attempt, you have plenty of patience but life is too short for me to be messing around like that, especially if it doesn't end up getting fully repaired.
Wow.. what a video. Awesome stuff
With my hands this would be such a mess
How we say in Ukraine: “Eyes are afraid, but hands are doing the job”
Very cool! Love the videos!
