I can see by the chart record why I don't remember hearing it. Softened down version of the Peter & Gordon record. I hope that Del Shannon got every deserved dime. This makes me wonder what a playlist of "Mike Post's Greatest Hits" would sound like.
I am a minority here, but for me THIS IS THE version ! all others fall short to Michael Lloyd's arrangement & production from that long ago year of 1975. I saw them when they opened for Andy Gibb, & they stole the show , Denver, 1976. ----------------MJL, 76 y/o
I agree, I just love this gorgeous version, also have a listen to the flip side titled Mr Rock and Roll, absolutely beautiful song. Playing it on my radiogram right now.
The Peter and Gordon version is one of my favourite songs of 1965, so for me no other version will do.

Just the horns arrangement puts this version above the P&G original.
Let alone the strings.

Allegedly the song of which Del Shannon was most proud. Versions? #1 Del's own #2 Peter And Gordon # Cotton, Lloyd And Christian
Nice… but the Peter & Gordon rendition reigns supreme!
Peter And Gordon
Not even close to Peter & Gordon's version.
