Loved these songs. Motown lives!
July 27, 2024 🤘🤘🤘
I’m with you in 2024. When I was a little girl me and one of aunts used to dance around to this on Saturday mornings while she doing her chores. She’s gone now. I heard the song on the Blacklist and burst into tears. Then I found it on TH-cam and now I’m laughing and dancing around my bedroom. I’m the oldest child of teenage parents. My aunts on both sides spoiled me unapologetically. I needed those memories tonight💜
This took my depression away for a moment
I hope you feel better sometime soon I know how it feels but things almost always get better
Hang in there, songs like this make you stop everything and put hope into life for a little while
This took away my depression forever 😊
Music is a powerful force. It can give you encouragement when you really need it.
Hang in there and listen to more positive music! God bless!
These songs are need in today's world.
No in todays world would spoil them
I was 21 when this was a hit in 1975 . You can not beat the 70s for good music .
Amen on that!!!!
While I was about 5 which means it's been about 48 years since I heard this song. I just hope it's another 48 years before I hear it again.
Well, there was that disco thing 🤔😀…..
Does this song remind you of an AM radio or what...a "buzzy" one!
Well, that was a period when you had to know how to sing, and computers did not "color in" your voice like they do now. Nowadays it is like the more "skin" you show the better and the more background dancers you have supposed to have will make your act better. I tend to seriously disagree in every sense.
They don't make 'em like this anymore, classic.
I know that right ! ❤
There' s a LOT of things they don't make like they used to, more's the pity.
Takes me back to my teenage year ( 58 now)
Still feeling 18 years old 😂

This.
she was nowhere to be found in the 1980s when dance was still upbeat before it became infused with hip hop
@@dampergoldenrod4156 What I tend to believe is that she didn't have the right people behind her who could have sustained her.
No auto tune or any other digital correcting . Just a talented singer with a great natural voice

If you're not bouncing your feet to this one, something is wrong with you.
😅
Got that right!! If SOMETHING on your body isn't bouncing, bobbing, nodding, or tapping, you don't have a pulse!
There ain’t many songs that can immediately lift your mood but this is fucking one of them 💯💯💯💯

Love it .
Agreed. I only want to be with you by Dusty Springfield is another.

Night club music this 💗💗💗💗
I call this "feel good" music. With all that is going on these days it helps us feel better.
That's what Disco was! Feel-good, uplifting music!!! Why the disco genre got such a bad rap is something I will never understand.
@Lisa A Mainly from Rock music fans. After The Beatles other rock artists started to pride themselves on song writing and that's not a strong theme in disco songs
Now I know why today’s elderly are always happy.
This made me happy just for a second but now I have to remember we are currently stuck with the democrat party and vulgar rap.
I was 17 when this song came out in 1975 i was going out with my first boyfriend we got engaged when i was 17 too i still love this song to this day im 62 now but i still remember when i was 17 like it was back in 1975 and at college studying hairdressering they were the best times ever 😊❤️

Sorry to break the chain with the ages, but 29 here, and I've listened to this song at least 100 times in the last 6 months. Can't get sick of it, and I love the video because she's not being too over-expressive. Looks like she is she genuinely singing with appropriate body language.
I was 10 as well and cutting it up at the roller rink.
Same here! We listened to it in the pizza parlor in Rahway, NJ while they tossed pizza by hand and threw it in the oven.
70s was a great decade for music, good times.
This is one of the best songs that the entire world needs to hear.
That's true. But I have to say...these old songs have a way of reminding you of loved ones that are no longer with you, that's what makes them hard to listen to sometimes.

Randomly woke up humming this chorus and couldn't remember where it was from. Thanks TH-cam for helping me find it again. 👍🏻
I had my first girlfriend at age 15. Her name is Denise. One time after church she played the opening notes of this song on the piano. Now whenever I hear it it takes me "right back" to that sweet time. I'm now 62.
I love hearing about memories like that. Because yeah, every time you hear this song. It's going to take you back to that moment.

Timeless banger. That bass break is a monster.
That horn in the background is cool too. Not sure what it is but it makes the song.
@@JaxonSmithers Sounds like a baritone sax. I think it stands out so much because most music from this era had horn sections instead of just one blasting out its own notes. It is pretty sick tbh...
This is what a smash hit sounds like!! One of the best songs of the 1970's!!
Slap Shot theme song...Great memories 😊
I was 18 in 1975 when this classic was released. my favourite year which produced some wonderful music, one of the best ever
Born in 1982 but there’s something positivity soothing about this song.

Such a great song from 1976.
I was around 19 when this song came out. Liked it then, like it now. I am almost 66 now.
Now you're 68.
I wanna go back in the days. Life is just not the same as it was back then
Bruh, the music was beautiful but the times, not so much, they were probably horrible actually (which is what produced such good music)

Why was 1975/76 special? I'm interested. I was born 1979.
@@siredith8846 for me I was young, full of hormones. I wanted to live. The condition of the world felt like anything was possible. (In a good way) and all the other music.
@@siredith8846 I was teenager during the 1970's. There was an explosion of all kinds of music. A lot of the singers wrote a lot of their own music. I listened to disco - this song, a lot of bands and folk music. If you listen to Bob Dylan his music has a lot of messages. Music was fun and joyous. I am 65 and perhaps my age gets in the way - but a lot of the music sounds the same.
Come on - the main song of the great movie "Slapshot" from 1977 with the all time legandary Paul Newman! You must honor this song!
The greatest hockey movie ever made!
Most underrated movie ever made.
@@carlousrichard8637No, the GREATEST movie ever!!
I'm listening to the fucking song!
Former ELO violinist Wilf Gibson and bassist Michael d'Alburque play on this song.
Still a classic, one of my favs ever , aged 57!
That old 60's Motown beat made a lot of hits. This song was a great example. Nightingale hated that song with a passion as well as the production of it. Had to be begged to record it and even at that didn't want her real name on the record. She started liking it better when it started climbing the charts. A producer can always foresee a hit when an artist hates it and refuses to do it.
Yeah, I was thinking that too. Same with Captain & Tennille’s “Love Will Keep Us Together”. Sort of retro nostalgia for that earlier Motown sound (which really wasn’t THAT long before, like 10 years maybe). Kind of interesting, to feel nostalgic about older songs that already had a sense of nostalgia to them when they were first released. “Beach Baby” by The First Class gives me that same impression too. I’m sure there are plenty of others.
Sure can! The 70's music is now and was at the time the soundtrack of my life. I grew up in the 70's, the best decade ever!
This kind of música is a divinal gift. We can take a resurrección hear it.
So uplifting, a happy song if ever there was one, puts a smile on my face every time i hear it.

This hit by Ms. Maxine Nightingale will always be a special favorite of mine. 👍
You're not alone. I have to go regularly to a center for treatment of serious illnesses. The first stop is lab tests. One day everything was backed up, and everyone had to wait longer. So the ladies at the front desk started playing disco songs on the radio where we everyone could hear. It made such a difference! Yeah, we're old, but 48 years ago, we had the moves! We ought to hear that music again. 🎵 ♥️
I'm getting an urge to watch Slapshot once again
REAL MUSIC back then.....
This song brings back forgotten memories of just how great the 1970s were, If only I could have stayed there forever
