I've been struggling to enjoy Pokemon lately, as in, I want to play games or do challenges but I'm not inspired to do so. Radical Red was the last thing I really liked but even that starts to burn me out. This just sounds like the perfect game for me right now, but there's an important question I have to ask. Is it complete? The pokecommunity page linked in the description says the 3.0 is about 75% done. No natter how good a game is, I don't want to start it if it is not yet completed and would rather patiently wait for it to be. So that's why I'm asking, since I have no other way of knowing. Thanks in advance!
If you liked Radical Red, try Elite Redux. In there, every Mon can have 4 abilities at the same time, 3 set ones and one able to be chosen. This makes a lot more mons viable in some way. For example, Ledian is really strong in there. There is also a lot of qol changes, basically no grind and recently they added Pokémon up to gen 9. It is (in my opinion) the best romhack right now.
I am always so confused how miffed people get when a Pokemon game is slightly harder than normal. Which is being generous cause normal mode isn't that hard. Regardless I think this is a fun fan game that asks you to use a bit more brain power then normal.
Normal mode in this game it's literally for more casual players without stopping being a challenge. It's a pretty good mode if you don't want to grind for EVs, plus, since battles are doubles now, that means they are much more fast paced than before and you don't have to worry about getting in a situation in which you would have to PP stall.
Decent spin on a pokemon game, not everyone wants to follow the same formula of collect 8 badges and become the champion... sometimes you just want to explore and collect them all. Having an Etrian Odyssey dungeon spin on it also doesn't make it aimless, there is an obvious path forward while you can also take the time to go down side paths. Definitely going to consider this one.
the trainer fights all being double battles is very close to a dealbreaker for me (I am godawful at doubles lol) but other than that this hack looks fantastic, definitely gonna try it out also this is completely off the cuff but i think its funny to refer to the gym/elite 4 framework as a trend when its kinda baked into pokemon's identity as a whole; i do commend the hack for trying something different but tbh there being no elite 4 or champion to look forward to fighting is a bit of a downside to me
gyms really don't work on the narrative level many fan games (or good ones at least) want to operate on. they can make sense as a side activity or for the gym leaders themselves to be entities in the story to help keep things grounded in pokemon's world, but if there is a big bad evil guy doing big bad evil things then it is just stupid to slow down the plot because you need a shiny bauble to go swimming.
