The forced Riolu is a double edged sword. Yea it’s annoying not being able to 6/6 pick your team, especially if you’re like me who doesn’t like to double up on types. I love Gallade but I decided against it because of Lucario. However if the Riolu wasn’t forced then the story beat that happened at the end of current version wouldn’t have hit nowhere near as hard.

For me, Riolu started out as a good pokemon/lynchpin for my battle strategies, but around the third gym became less and less important. And I actually wanted to take him off my team in the haunted forest when we get the shiny litwick. Was very disappointed I couldn't.

At least your not forced to start with Magicarp.

It’s good to hear this game isn’t edgy. I like a pokemon game being a bit more mature, like vanguard has been so far. But I just heard about some of the stuff in pokemon reborn and was turned off.

lol I love some challenge in pokemon games, but I’ve found myself really struggling in certain areas in vanguard to the point I went from normal to casual. I might switch back to normal and see how it goes since the discord is really helpful

I will say i disagree on the take of unbound being bland story wise. But i can also fully acknowledge that its a different strokes different folks deal.

I haven’t played many in a while the last I tried was reminiscence and one I can’t remember the name of, the last fan game I got to the post game of was xenoverse. But I found vanguard and have been loving it. And I will certainly check out unbreakable ties as well

You know, when it comes to battle backgrounds, at least they have them and they try to match them up with the scenery. So many fan games are just boring with their plain coloured backgrounds. Game developers: We spend so much time in a battle scene. At least make what we look at engaging to look at. Unbreakable ties does that. Not perfect, but they do.

I judge my pokemon games by only 4 criteria, does it have Goomy, how fast can I obtain it, can I make a full dragon team and how fast I can make it. Most pokemon fangames score poorly in this system

At first I thought this was just a rip off of old browser projects... But after 5 minutes I was basically mind blown. This has incredible potential, this is like the SM2 of pokemon.

The creator should be extremely proud of his work. Im trying to remember if it was true that he created this project mostly on his own. If so, that is incredible!! My first fangame being Xenoverse, i didn't think another fangame would come close to my expectations but Unbreakable took it over the top! Looking forward to future updates and a 2nd playthrough of this game!! Gamefreak, TAKE BETTER NOTES!!!

I'm playing Pokemon Unbound right now it's so good

Ive played a good chunk of the game, I like it and im gonna finish it and keep up with updates. My only real issue with the game that there are a few to many casual Pokémon memes(vaporeon jokes most of all) that just kinda make me roll my eyes

Is this another pure story game, or are there any like regional/new mons? I like to know cause that changes when ill get around to trying it out.

12:13 I know its very petty, but your calculation of the gameplay is wrong. 8+8+4=20 20÷3=6,666... So according to your own ratings you should give the gameplay a 6,5/10 or if you round up a 7/10. It would make little sense if you would rank the whole gameplay lower than all the criteria you use to describe the gameplay. I know its very petty but I think many players are put off by the rating (for example me lol) and it would be unfair if you rank the all in all gameplay lower than the average of all criteria and I wrote this comment only because I think 6,5/10 or 7/10 sounds much better than 6/10, although there is little difference between those rankings.

One thing I love that this game does that not a lot of Pokémon games do is bring up that the Mc is basically mute and uses it as a plot point for the Mc. On the elevator ride, Eda brings it up when trying to converse with us. Sakura straight up says we’re way more lively when intoxicated. The Mc’s rising hatred of feeling like a foot soldier being on standby for orders like a NPC and it being resolved by Lucario was beautiful.
