    Best lesson you've done this. Love it! The car sound actually being a pan of water is genius! :)

    I love your videos so much. My school use your videos and love it too. My teacher also loves it because you are a lot more enthusiastic to listen too than her!! 🤣
    We were actually watching this lesson today at school. Great videos and I hope you upload again soon.

    This is great! I'm doing a radio play adaptation of Othello with my high school seniors and was already planning on doing an activity like this. Thanks for saving me planning time. My kids had fun with this.

    I’ve got an idea that incorporates some ideas from radio theatre but also is something new, this helps out with the production side immensely, thanks so much!!!

    I am a sound engineer for a radio drama about to be produced. This is quite helpful. Thanks a bunch
    Question though, can one use the sfx from bbc website on a commercial project?

    • @DramaDan
      @DramaDan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment Tata.
      Good question - I’d imagine the BBC have made them available for education and personal use only. I could be wrong but it’s certainly worth checking before you use them for commercial work.
      There are a number of other websites you can subscribe to though for downloading sfx with commercial licenses.
      I use SoundStripe which is good value for money and has a good selection of sounds.
      You can also try Artlist, Epidemic sound and Audiio - which all offer similar solutions for using sfx commercially.
      Hope that helps and good luck with your project!

    Hi Dan, did you do a lesson on how to record voices and sfx together? I'm looking at the radio drama at the moment with my year 9s and this is the area I am really stuck on!

    • @DramaDan
      @DramaDan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rob!
      For this series I’ve built towards students pre-recording the sfx and voice elements and then edit it all together (In Audacity, GarageBand or another suitable program students have access to)
      I have a lesson on recording voice specially in the pipeline just using phones but not both together in this series.
      That said, what remote platform are you using? Zoom / MS Teams?
      If you did want to use SFX and voice together without editing, I’d just treat it as a live performance. One lesson could be on finding and practicing the SFX (either live or playing pre-recorded sounds live in performance) , followed by a lesson to incorporate the script in groups, and finally a live performance online?
      Does that help?

      @@DramaDan Hi Dan (I didn't realise my husband was logged in so his name has come up on my enquiry!) I'm using Zoom and Teams. I have basic knowledge of Audacity, do you find that students can use it easily? Many thanks Deb

    • @DramaDan
      @DramaDan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Deb, ah no worries! To be honest I encourage them to use a program they are already familiar with and just give audacity as one of the options. Most will have some experience of iMovie (which can also work for this) and then by default should know GarageBand, so I tend to gauge it based on what they already know.
      If I need to, I have in the past done a lesson on using a specific program, but found that trying to teach one piece of software, with students using different devices etc complicates the process a bit. So it’s best to give them the control and then guide where needed ;-)
      I hope that’s helpful!
