I met Derek Pratt in london back in 1999 explaining his escapement to a small group of watchmakers. He was an exceptional person and very humble. I am honoured to have met and chatted with him. A true genius .
I've been hoping to see a full video on this watch for ages, there are 1 or 2 articles and a couple of short videos (including one of yours on independent makers) mentioning it but nothing in this much depth, you guys are the best, one of the most beautiful watches of any kind in my opinion
Marc. I want this dream that tells the time. If I pay for my half of the shipping costs and trade you an old Brompton bike that folds neatly under your pilot seat, can you talk it of that nice gentleman for me? Is this where F.P Journe got his "Invenit & Fecit" motto from?
I fully understand your desire for this incredible piece, a total gem!!! And nice to hear that you have a Brompton bicycle, they are fantastic. And good comment regarding the FP Journe moto ;)
I think today's younger collectors should see this and understand that watches are now art rather than time tellers and they should stop getting caught up with looking for watches that they can wear in practical situations. Watch collecting in my opinion, is no different from buying a painting. This is the only way the watch market will stay healthy, yes I will wear my watches but it is not a priority that I must just because I paid for it. I am a younger collector but I have learnt a lot simply by watching the other collectors, I do not have their kind of money but I apply the same principles in whatever I buy, even if it is a vintage Seiko dive watch.
