Mark in invincible, or Omni Man. theres a point later in the comics that they'll probably show if the series is fully animated where Mark has to fly while holding someone and he travels so fast you can't breathe or do anything so he tells people to hold their breath before he basically breaks the sound barrier.
I personally perfer it when speedsters actually appear fast to the audience, like in Man of Steel and Eternals. Scenes where the world is slowed down are though cool, make the speedsters move at a normal or even slower speed and the audience has to kind of "imagine" how fast they're actually going
It was good when it used with basically just Quicksilver during X-Men, since it made for some pretty good visual comedy. But now it is used almost in every movie with a speedster now and now it isn't unique or fun anymore.
yes, I think the best way to convey the motion of someone going at super speed is to show how they affect the environment around them, and the way they did it for Makari was so good, it looked like getting slightly brushed by her as she passes by you would disintegrate that part of your body and when she starts fighting Ikaris solo, you feel the power behind those punches
Makkari’s body movement and smoothness I find so unique especially after all the speedster stuff we’ve seen, her jumping over Ikaris’s laser is always going to look awesome to me.
@@raion303 The way she runs like against strong wind resistance running lower closer to the ground is an interesting depiction and I think quite accurate. You’d have a lot of resistance up against you to fight against going that fast.
What I liked about Aaron taylor Johnson's QuickSilver is the fact that the way they shot it made it so that he was ACTUALLY out of breath after running. Which is underappreciated when talking about superspeed
I like the Xmen Quicksilver of course, but I'll always be salty about how much he overshadowed the MCU Quicksilver, because I really liked that one too
i feel like atrain is pretty underrated tbh. the camera/enviromental shake, things flying around when he runs/stops. the train sound effect is really good too cause to some extent it really almost feels like you're about to be hit by a vehicle how it gets so loud so quickly, then just stops instantly. the sonic booms when he runs off, idk everything about him is just so satisfying from a super speed perspective. i really should finish season 3 😅😅😅
Personally I think CW Flash S1 had the best combo of slowmo, actual speed scenes and trail. I loved Makkari's speed scenes, which is the most praise I'll ever give eternals. And Quicksilver in the X-Men films is just a certified hood classic
@@Hoopsforlife11it's not that it can't be good, it's that they always ruin their stuff. Flash after season 5, if not season 3 is absolute dog. Forgot when arrow dropped off but same thing happened
Arrow had it a bit weird. The actual narrative quality faught with itself to be good for much of its time. Overall though season 5 and 6 is when the shows quality dipped the most but season 4 is usually widely conscidered the starting point to Arrows diminished quality.
Personally I thought Flash started getting weaker already in S2. Just couldn't carry the momentum of the phenomenal first season. I watched Arrow S1 and S2, and tbh I disliked both. I gave them a fair chance because people said they were the 2 best arrowverse seasons by far, but they felt much less airtight and much more cringeworthy CW drama focused than Flash S1 (which is saying something). I'd say Flash S1 is actual tiers above the second best season in the arrowverse. Definitely feels like it had the most thought, planning and care put into it, and the execution was impeccable
I think there's just something so pure about using a child learning their powers to show growth. I feel like when you're that age you are still perfectly capable of wonder and awe and it just comes so naturally so everything, both regular, and super, can seem incredible to you. When you've grown up, things just are how they are and most of the time we're too jaded to be able to see the spectacle in things.
personally I think Makkari had the best running scenes AND fighting scenes, the fact that sometimes we’re running with her and the world around her is going by so fast or sometimes we’re just watching how quick she is from the outside, it’s freakin amazing.
@@chrisbrown2731lol grant gustin cgi is done with low budget greenscreen But Makkari cgi is done with a lot of visual effects Breaking many barriers to look real
@@boboboy8189clearly you didnt watch the movie😂they can’t die from really anyone except deviants, hence their name “eternals”. wtf is a sword supposed to do?
I actually love Dash, he is easily my favorite speedster and I love that he has no trails, it just feels more real that he's just going fast and theres no lightning or anything.
Quicksilver from the X-men will never stop being my favorite. Though I agree that slowed down sequences should be used sparingly along actual speed, the creativity and wonder of those sequences just sells the whole character for me. Sad how he got pretty much unused because of his overpowered abilities.
I can remember watching that and being mind-blown, to the point that during the COVID lockdown I would listen to Sweet Dreams are made of this for hours on end. X-men's Quicksilver is easily one of my favourite underused characters (along with Gambit) and I was really disappointed that they hospitalised him in Dark Phoenix for being too overpowered, and then never went through with the whole Magneto-is-his-dad storyline. I adore every scene he's in, but I feel like he was in desperate need of more screen time and he got unceremoniously ditched. I was also disappointed in the half-hearted slow-motion in Dark Phoenix.
20:11 Quicksilver doesn’t have the Speed-Force like Flash does. It’s what protects him and others from high-speed, such as the creation of nuclear fusion/fission by running fast enough to displace air particles, which then collide make to create nuclear reactions. The Speed-Force stops that
I really love what Paramount did with Sonic for his speed. What I love most is how different each scene of him using his power is and how it can relate to how fast he's going. Like when playing pin pong by himself, you see after images. But later when running from Robotnik, he is leaving a blue trail. It's also pretty neat how for the close up's you can see how fast he's moving his legs, but then within seconds he is in another position doing something else like for example in the same chase, he is running on the great wall of China and starts jumping from one side to the other or how he goes from a sprint to suddenly sliding under a bus and immediately back to running. Both the bar and roof top speed slow downs are great because the bar also uses after images and sometimes a blue trail to show he could go even faster, and you can get a sense of how much time passed from when Sonic first destroyed the robots to when they finally hit the ground.
@@gabbyn.3049 I love how they showed how hard running on water could be! I really love how when Sonic lands on the water after a wave shot him up into the air, he had to quickly regain all energy and moment to stay on top
I want an animated flash scene to exist where speed is articulated by flash being at a super high frame rate while everything around him sinks to a lower frame rate. Kind of like the reverse of what they did with into the spider verse with miles having a lower frame rate, but having that effect even more pronounced in addition to being inverted
Spider verse really revolutionized frame rate manipulation by incorporating it to the actual story. Also, Hobi basically says fuck you to everything and moves at 6 frames or something like that
There's a law in animation about frenetic/fast movements and how less transitional frames (hence more key frames) affect motion. Generally the faster something is, the more "image-like" it'll appear, and that's true in real life.
Evan Peter's Quicksilver probably had the best speed CGI, the amount of work that went into the kitchen and mansion scene was amazing, and the final outcome just really makes it feel like he's moving super fast.
In my opinion, CW Flash S3 when Savitar is first introduced has some of the best looking super speed running of all. It’s just so satisfying watching him sprint.
I think the elongation of the surroundings that happens to the ezra miller flash in the flash movie when he decides to accelerate really fast is a genius idea and actually makes some scientific sense with the relativistic affects happening to him when he goes that fast.
I mean they're not even going anywhere near relativistic speeds in those shots. I agree it works well, but I'd argue it far more effectively captures the feeling of tunnel vision, your eyes refocussing, and your mind getting primed to deal with faster speeds. Those small biological and psychological reactions may not *_literally_* make the world shift and distort, but they make you experience it in a fundamentally different way. It's sort of like the zoom-in shot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 which, by physically moving the camera while adjusting it's FoV, keeps Quill's face the same relative size in-frame, but by the start and end of the shot everything about it looks entirely different. It's the same thing, captured in two entirely faithful ways, but there are obscene levels of distortion between the two.
@@robonator2945 yeah you are mostly right here, but in a fantasy way it is cool to think that maybe he is going close to light speed. Also you misunderstand tunnel vision, tunnel vision causes the edges of your vision to go darker and it gets more extreme the faster you go. Besides Mr Snyder already made an injured barry go faster than light in his justice league so we at least know he can go that fast.
@@varanjitsingh9663 I'm aware of what tunnel vision is, my point is that it's a theatrical interpretation of the psychological effects of that. Also, yes, Barry *_CAN_* go FTL, but he *_isn't_* he's running around local city blocks on the planet earth, he physically can't be going near light speed and not be functionally teleporting.
There are two ways speed can be shown on film. One is quicksilver, perfection. The other way is how Makkari is shown. If we talk only about speed and not the relative speed, then Makkari was shown perfectly.
The fact shows like She Hulk came out recently and still aren’t comparing CGI-wise is downright ridiculous honestly. Like that CGI? I swear I thought the guys were just on wires and everyone moved really slowly. To learn it’s CG was jaw dropping
great video, well done! And I would completely agree, Dash's sequence on the island is probably one of the most creative/impressive speedster sequences out there, up there with Quicksilver's.
The director said he wanted it to be very character driven. Everything that happens pushes them forward in the story. Which studios forget these days in favor of big special effects.
The one thing i absolutely love about Age of Ultron's Quicksilver is that what is behind his trail/him when he runs, gets sped up as well. You can see it near the end battle ehen he runs into a police station and says "Get of your asses" he then tosses the AK he was holding to an officer sitting in a chair, and as he runs away, the officer grabs and readjusts the AK in his arms really quickly as Quicksilver runs by, then slows down again after he leaves
My personal favorite way of visualizing super speed to an audience is the character just disappearing and reappearing at various points throughout the shot
Flash is still in experience in ZSJL, if you read comic. Flash is very OP than superman. He can ran with sword and kill any villain and its the end of story
i really loved the eternals iteration of superspeed. when they wanted us to see what makkari was doing while running, they made her normal speed and not slow mo, and then showed acceleration by just making it seem like she’s moving about 3x as fast as a normal sprinter. gives weight to the run and not using slow mo makes us not look at the CGI, which might always be a weak spot with portraying superspeed. you could also really feel the power of the impact when she comes into a scene as like half blur, half person moving unnaturally fast instead of the flash tv show method which was *blur, person appears*
I personally love Smallville's speed scenes, the way Clark moves at a slightly slower pace than normal, while everything else stops is great and really shows the scenes from his perspective, because he has enhanced senses, so he can react to that speed and that's why he seems to be in slow motion... it is also shown well with other fast moving characters who are as fast, if not faster then he is... Flash being faster, just accelerates away from him, while he and the world stay standing... or the Goddess Isis, possessing Lois, moves at superspeed, sees Clark and can't keep up, even with her godly farsight/vision, nor her physical speed...
@@azrael_pendragonbut she doesn't run, she dashes to enemies to punch them. I really love Faora speed effects but shes not a speedster like Flash or Quicksilver
I really like how in a way each speedster does something different but also adds a different element to what superspeed would be like how we see the speed of mikari, the slowed smooth perspective of quicksilver, the wild effects of the environment with flash, and how brutal speed can be with A train. I'm guessing this is a new channel but i really like it and would love for him to make more videos like this with different powers like heat vision or flight in movies.
You deserve so much more attention I’ve loved your videos so far. They’re all so well written and explanatory, the visuals are always perfectly timed and help showcase the ideas you’re trying to bring across. You’re awesome dude keep it up
I disagree, from s1-3 it all looked the same, consistent and actually gets better, look at zoom and savitar. It's after and during s4 when everything changes, from lighting, writing and vfx, it's very noticeable
I think something that gets overlooked about DCU Flash is that it seems like he runs with an incredible amount of force. He's not just running really fast like a normal person, he's propelling and throwing himself forward with every step he takes. That's part of what makes it look a bit weird at times, but I think its cooler in concept and removes the really weird times that the Flash TV show had with speedsters just sprinting on a green screen.
I still feel the best normal speed/non slow mo was early flash like the scene of reverse flash moving where his legs and arms are a blur, that’s awesome. Quicksilver scenes still #1 tho
Barry said at the time when met Bruce in his hideout is ice-skating. So why ice skating? The ideas is when flash running too fast, the earth feels like ice where he touch his feet but it feels too sliperry. We saw this thing when he try to save iris. So Barry try to mimic how nice skating move on ice. Problem is ezra doesnt act like he in ice so its very awkward in reality. So they changed how he ran in the flash movie by copying what cw did.
One thing I don't really like anymore about speedsters is how they always slow down time for us to see from their perspective. They seem slow now, because I'm so used to the slowed perspective. I like Makari from Eternals, because they very rarely do this in fact I don't think they do it period. She looks faster than CW/DCEU Flash and both Quicksilvers. I also like how in the scene where Flash draws on the guys face. You see his hand for like less than a split second. My brain could barely process that and it made me realize how quick this guy is.
That scene where DCEU Flash ran to Gotham, they made his legs move in slow motion while the background went by so fast. Why? That just looks so fake. Just like when they held up the teenage Clark in the first Superman to show his super speed. Each step needs to actually hit the ground. No sliding! When my books are adapted to movies, and the studio works on Speedstress, I'm going to supervise the production to make sure there's no sliding effects with Felicity Velo. She runs in brake heels for crying out loud!
So like....thats a difficult one right? Because it depends on the context. If the character is moving so fast that his velocity is sending his one step thousands of kilometers an hour, than yeah, The flash running through gotham would take one long step that would make Gotham look like a blur as he took it. Remmember in the context of super speed they are traveling as vast distances with dramatically less movement, so if you were to speed up the camera to make THEM look slow, you can hardly see their surroundings as they are passing at insane speeds from one slow step at the speedster velocity.
@@SeanWheeler100 The thing is realistically a Speedster should be sliding/gliding through the air, they're super fast but still super strong since legs are muscles. When someone runs they're pushing the body forward and if you have super legs you're pushed further forward before he gravity takes a hold of you and makes you put your foot down again. So like a normal person would be 121212 but a speedster would be like 131313 going farther before needing to take another two at least pretty sure it works like that.
@@SeanWheeler100to kinda add to my primary comment imma reply to you by adding that.....do remmember that velocity is something important. If your character is HYPER fast, if you have the camera slowing down the speed of the speedsters movements, then the world should be ZOOOMING by at blinding speed. Velocity dictates that if something is moving faster than it's strides carry them farther. If your camera is slowing down a character who can say run 10000000m/s in a step at a jogging speed for them per second. If you slow down the camera enough to catch them slowly taking that step jogging pace stel you will still be seeing 1000000m/s slowed only by rate of the cameras speed. Thus your character will then be perceived as sliding when they are not. Interesting stuff eh?
@@aster1760 No, superspeed is not travelling further distances in less steps. It's taking more steps in less time. The Flash isn't on roller skates, and his legs aren't as stretchy as Plastic Man's. He's moving really fast while time has stopped around him. Look at how fast Dash's legs move in The Incredibles. And Sonic's legs turn into a figure eight pattern when he runs because his legs are moving too fast for the Sega Genesis' framerate. A speedster running in slow motion should only be shown while everything else is in a standstill like in scenes parodying Quicksilver's scenes. When they showed Barry running from Central City to Gotham, they should have sped up Ezra's movements, not slowed him down. The slow Flash on a fast moving ground doesn't look cool, it looks fake. And to top it all off, Ezra doesn't even know how to run!
I think you should have had the speedster from invincible, how after he saved people they would puke from being moved around so fast. He also used his super speed to punch Omni-man so fast that it actually was hurting him from being hit so many times in precise spots.
The animation style for Invincible was pretty simple though, in the context of this video, there's not a lot to talk about. They just made a solid red trail behind him, it's not visually interesting.
this randomly popped up in my recommended and i just wanna say it is SO refreshing to see some fun video essay where the point isn't to complain! you can really tell that you just enjoy movies and talking about them, and that's really nice to see in a place like the internet. keep up the great work!
Faora is absolutely my favorite when it comes to combat, but Makkari is a close second. Overall, I think DCU Flash generally has the best effects, even if he runs all goofy
Despite people are complaining the vfx of the new flash movie, i find myself really enjoying the opening scene where flash ran through cities and forest, really giving me the speedster vibe
Honestly the moment when Dash knew he could run on water and laughed like a menace is also my favorite moment of showcasing just how exciting it is to learn your own abilities on the spot, prime cinema
i wish you talked more on how dceu’s flash appears to run slower than he actually is which brings up a few questions on how the speed force works. we do get a lot of it in the movie however
Yep could've brought that up. They either had to make him look fast or slow. Fast would've looked like CW Flash running up that wind turbine, so slow was definitely the right choice. The movie really explored it, which I liked.
You can also think about it this way. Each step he takes is miles long because of the sheer momentum he is carrying making it more like his legs just push off the ground that hard. So his speed isn’t derived from how fast his legs move per-se but the stride of his run.
@@jordankiepanimations5291 I don’t like disrespecting animators or companies. I just personally find that they could have done a much better job of how hid speed, momentum, and pace of ezra actually looked because it overall looked too sloppy to enjoy sadly
@@jordankiepanimations5291 yeah but if he pushes off the ground that hard he should also go flying up into the air as well. Also if he has massive strides he shouldnt be able to make sharp turns like he does in the movie
You ever look at helicopter blades when they're spinning fast enough and it looks like they're spinning really slowly? That's pretty much what's happening when Flash looks like he's being slow. There's actually a lot of scientific things based in reality that went into Ezra's Flash and I feel like it gets clowned on way too much.
This made me realize that my work is going to contribute to human knowledge as the next blueprint for other generations to use. But wow, this is the evolution that might be imagining what speed looks like in the future.
I don't think I will ever forget Flash from Snyder cut, it felt so charming and spectacular. The time travel scene is so good that even if I am watching it on my phone I feel like I am inside the screen looking at him from just a little distance, my eyes get drawn in, the music, the build up, the visual effects, the coolness of it all is jaw dropping and feels me with awe everytime I watch it. I am very sad I didn't get to see it in 3D.
One of the most compelling parts of Grant Gustins flash is that a lot of the scenes may include slow motion to help you see what's going on, but a lot of it happens in real time so you can truly feel the impact of how fast things are going. Plus his run is actually believable.
I absolutely love how Snyder's DC films handled speed. Characters like Faora and Wonder Woman dashing at super speed look fantastic. When I first watched ZS Justice League the "wow" shot for me was when Flash was saving all the people who were going up those stairs, and we see him moving super fast to protect them from all the debris. Lightning fast as he should be. However when Flash fights Superman at the monument the movement of Supes has always looked a bit strange to me.
That scene when he fought superman is to shows how their speed scale in justice league. We knew Diana can evade bullet so some Wonder woman fans thought Diana can go super speed too, snyder reinsist that Diana never move as fast as other speedster did. At most, she's moving same speed as fastest bullet. In comic, her speed is very inconsistent. Sometime she's move as fast as superman but another comic she's only slightly faster than deathstroke. Meanwhile we saw flash can move normally when superman try to punch him, Barry never got a single punch but instead he try to push superman, superman got pushed back but he changed his flight ability to float and thus its like pushing a concrete, Barry got his body thrown back. You can rewatch that scene, superman already at his max speed but for flash its Just normal speed
@@boboboy8189 oh no I purely mean the movement of Henry Cavill / his digital double just looks weird in that scene. Like it just doesn't look like natural movement for some reason. Maybe it's because the fight is a bit "floaty".
Would've been cool to see "Baron Munchausen" on the list and how they did superspeed using older effects. I think it holds up better than a lot of bad cgi.
I've always been a huge fan of how super speed is depicted on-screen, so I appreciate this video a lot 😍 I still think Quicksilver has the best (and most well thought-out) scenes so far
And once again, another banger video from Y Reviews. Seriously, for someone who started making content just a few months ago,I’m genuinely impressed with the level of quality. Keep up the great work! Can’t wait for the next vid! ❤
If nobody told you already, there is a speedster in the Amazon show I am Virgo that went out last week and those effects are AMAZING ! Her name is Flora and the way her speed is shown, her childhood learning how to master her powers and the general "science" behind how her powers are shown and explained is actually something new and original that instantly makes you think that : 1 - I am a virgo is a great show 2 - You should make a short video to promote your long video using Flora as a new example !
Makkari is the best speedster effect to me, her single poses after she brakes and the way the actress leans over while running with that’s death stare makes her the most efficient speedster to me
But like you dont get that from other character. Cyborg is a significantly newer hero but you dont see him like trusting his body out of shape trying to shoot people because he doesnt know what he is doing.
Ezra’s flash doesn’t run tho, he skates. If you compare his movements to a skater, he’s nor very far off. And the reason why he skates instead of running is because as shown in the scene where he saves Iris West from a car crash, him moving normally shatters the concrete beneath him, so instead he skates forward.
A thing I really love about the DCEU Flash is that electricity always builds up right before he speeds off. It's like he needs to 'charge up'; it gives a great release-of-tension effect when he finally moves - like a bow being tightened and shot.
Snyder love adding minor details like that, remember this channel praised makkari suits is glowing when she ran? BvS we got Diana shield's glowing when got hit by energy blast, her bracelet also glowing when she want to use it. Her lasso also glowing whne she use it.
I think a good mix of appearing insanely fast to the audience and those scenes from the sonic movie & the og quick silver where time seemingly stops apart from them makes a good speedster cinema-wise
I'm with you! I will sit through a whole viewing of The Incredibles when it comes on TV just to watch the one moment when Dash giggles when he discovers his running-on-water power.
For 99% of The Flash's S1-S6, the VFX and running elements were killer. Really really good, pulled off on what I'm sure was talent & expertise triumphing over budget. Beyond that, reduced viewership & budget really started limiting what the team was capable of pulling off, hence lightsabers and throwing lightning more often.
Been following the channel since you blew up with you QUANTUMANIA CGI videos Love how much attention this really cool video is getting Great to see you getting back on your feet
I feel like the only one you forgot is how Sonic looked on the Netflix series Sonic Prime. The speed there is handled differently for every character, and the contrast between Shadow and Sonic is honestly very nice. The colors are used in a very smart way, and the way Sonic runs looks both cartoon-ish and way cooler than I expected. As an old time Sonic fan I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the series for the first time.
Honestly, I love the justice league flashs effects. It looks so powerful and always played with the anticipation of the viewer because of the little sparkles and bursts.
I love the concepts of speedsters and I watched the first few seasons of CW Flash avidly. But they keep making them more and more migraine/epileptic seizure inducing by making the entire screen flash from very dark to very bright repeatedly. They could achieve the same effect if they made the entire screen brighter or make the lightning smaller or less piercingly bright. Partially because of that, but also because of how clean they look, my favorite portrayals are both Quicksilvers and Makkari.

Not a hood classic, you hella funny 🤣🤣
I think there's just something so pure about using a child learning their powers to show growth. I feel like when you're that age you are still perfectly capable of wonder and awe and it just comes so naturally so everything, both regular, and super, can seem incredible to you. When you've grown up, things just are how they are and most of the time we're too jaded to be able to see the spectacle in things.
I somehow still see the spectacle in things. Which is good I guess.

Honestly i like that too, seeing A-Train’s speed in live action too
Quicksilver from the X-men will never stop being my favorite.
The Speed-Force stops that
It's the great catch-all answer for any problems in the CW (and other) Flash series.

That ocean scene was fucking glorious. NEARLY gave me that vibe of watching Dash running through the water for the very first time.
Kind of like the reverse of what they did with into the spider verse with miles having a lower frame rate, but having that effect even more pronounced in addition to being inverted
that’s super experimental, i’d like to see that
With the progress animation studios are making, this sounds really plausible.
Spider verse really revolutionized frame rate manipulation by incorporating it to the actual story. Also, Hobi basically says fuck you to everything and moves at 6 frames or something like that
I might do this
There's a law in animation about frenetic/fast movements and how less transitional frames (hence more key frames) affect motion.
It’s just so satisfying watching him sprint.
snyder flash running type is almost identical. i actually like it
@@IdentityDoesntMatter personally, I’d say Snyder flash is more like skating than running, whereas Savitar is just near perfect sprinting form
I really enjoyed season 1 to 3 tradition of having an episode where Flash gets completely thrashed fighting a speedster.
@@Cerran032 ice skaters are what Ezra and the team researched the most for their running style so you're definitely on target there
I think the elongation of the surroundings that happens to the ezra miller flash in the flash movie when he decides to accelerate really fast is a genius idea and actually makes some scientific sense with the relativistic affects happening to him when he goes that fast.
Love that shot- why I included it in the vid.
Its a cool effect but every gets this wrong, length would actually contract unfortunately
As much as I love the Quicksilver way, Makkari’s way should be the standard now for speedsters
FAAAACTS that was BEAUTIFUL when I first saw it😭👏👏👏. In terms of Reaction Speed I think The One nailed it
@@meep9231 True, Makkari should be the standard for pure speed.

CGi has become so common that I can point it out from a mile away, but the scene in The One you show actually got me. That’s some insanely good cgi
The fact shows like She Hulk came out recently and still aren’t comparing CGI-wise is downright ridiculous honestly. Like that CGI? I swear I thought the guys were just on wires and everyone moved really slowly. To learn it’s CG was jaw dropping
Honestly the sound design of these adds a lot to it for me. Especially rapid footsteps, not sure but that really sells it for me.
great video, well done!
All the officers heads turn really fast as well!
Makari in Eternals was def one of my favorites but I enjoy both the fast and slow speed effects
My personal favorite way of visualizing super speed to an audience is the character just disappearing and reappearing at various points throughout the shot
Makkari has the best speed physics to me. Her fighting Ikaris was one of the best fights imo.
Flash is still in experience in ZSJL, if you read comic. Flash is very OP than superman. He can ran with sword and kill any villain and its the end of story
I think Makkari's speed sequences are truly amazing
i really loved the eternals iteration of superspeed. when they wanted us to see what makkari was doing while running, they made her normal speed and not slow mo, and then showed acceleration by just making it seem like she’s moving about 3x as fast as a normal sprinter. gives weight to the run and not using slow mo makes us not look at the CGI, which might always be a weak spot with portraying superspeed. you could also really feel the power of the impact when she comes into a scene as like half blur, half person moving unnaturally fast instead of the flash tv show method which was *blur, person appears*
But that’s literally what quicksilver does
Makkari has the best cgi speed in my opinion. It’s just so cool.
Flash being faster, just accelerates away from him, while he and the world stay standing... or the Goddess Isis, possessing Lois, moves at superspeed, sees Clark and can't keep up, even with her godly farsight/vision, nor her physical speed...
makkari's running is more fluid yet relatable to how we could envision ourselves running at her speed
One thing i think you missed that was worth the mention, is makkari used the air pressure she kicked up as a weapon
I honestly think Eternals is the best live-action representation of a speedster to date.

Yea it does look weird but it makes sense

So Barry try to mimic how nice skating move on ice.
Problem is ezra doesnt act like he in ice so its very awkward in reality. So they changed how he ran in the flash movie by copying what cw did.

“The Signal” ending scene is another one worth mentioning. Beautifully well done.
I think the Dash speed moment is the best I have ever seen
@@SeanWheeler100
The thing is realistically a Speedster should be sliding/gliding through the air, they're super fast but still super strong since legs are muscles.
And chuck from the angry birds movie
The animation style for Invincible was pretty simple though, in the context of this video, there's not a lot to talk about. They just made a solid red trail behind him, it's not visually interesting.

i wish you talked more on how dceu’s flash appears to run slower than he actually is which brings up a few questions on how the speed force works. we do get a lot of it in the movie however
Yep could've brought that up.

I am very sad I didn't get to see it in 3D.
the scene when Flash realises that Superman can see him even in superspeed was unforgettable
One of the most compelling parts of Grant Gustins flash is that a lot of the scenes may include slow motion to help you see what's going on, but a lot of it happens in real time so you can truly feel the impact of how fast things are going. Plus his run is actually believable.
For me days of future past's quicksilver still the best. Beautifully put together and wonderfully written.

That dash laugh as he learns he he can run on water is just always great to witness
So glad you brought the one into this I love this movie
