The video was getting way too long so I cut out the part where I talked through questions I was going to ask myself as I was going through my clothes so I'll just write it here :) 1. Does it spark joy? (a little Marie kondo-ing) 2. Is it comfortable? (why/why not & is it the material?) 3. Does it fit how I want it to fit? 4. If I need to alter it, will I? 5. Would I miss it?
Great advice..."just because something is cute, doesn't mean that you have to buy it or that you will wear it." I have finally adopted that mindset when I thrift, and it has saved me money and heartache! Always love your closet declutter videos.
I've had to adopt this mindset as well because I was buying WAY too much at the thrift store. The last time I was at the thrift store, I didn't have time to try things on and I now regret the one sweater I bought, even though it's super adorable.
As a maximalist, I personally think that it's ok to have a lot of clothes if you can afford it and regulate whats in your wardrobe. I love that you allow yourself to indulge in fashion while regulating your closet like you're doing in this video. It indeed makes you so happy to put on clothes that you absolutely love!
Looks like a lot of us are in sync! I just cleaned out my wardrobe and got rid of a whopping 100 pieces.. If anyone’s interested: I did it a bit differently: I got all my items out of their original homes and put it in a different room, organised it in categories and went through it super quickly Marie Kondo style and put everything in a keep/maybe/goodbye pile. After I got through everything, I tried everything in the “maybe” pile and said my goodbyes to all the items I was going to let go off. I feel so much lighter, very inspired and so much more excited to get dressed everyday!
I just had a conversation with a friend about how difficult it is to declutter our closet. Both of us are unsuccessful with getting rid of pieces we love but don't wear that often.
@@brendasnow8255 I’ve often done that too. I get in decluttering moods or other impulsive decisions, 😢and have donated pieces I missed later. For me, it’s helped to keep the bag of “goodbye” clothes in my room for a week or more- I go back into it and try on the clothes I regret, play with restyling them, etc, until I’m satisfied that everything in the bag belongs there.
For a long time I always wanted to look “in style” or “trendy” I think it’s because as a child I wasn’t allowed to get new clothes very often and we couldn’t afford the really trendy clothes. Now I have finally found my style and I don’t care if it’s in fashion or not. I like it and that’s all that matters to me. I hope you find that for yourself 😊
I’m new here but I loved this! As someone with crazy ADHD, that decluttering really does change your life friends! After weeks of tossing things to the side and a lack of organizing. I cleaned out my closest over a couple of weeks and it felt like a piano had been lifted off my spirit! There had been so many pieces I hadn’t worn in months or even years, so it felt so nice to donate and let go to make room for new pieces and energies in my life. Now I clean about 15 minutes before every morning, and ensure clothes are always being utilized to truly keep my peace and allow for my most efficient and intuitive moments throughout the day. It also helps to document this for my TH-cam channel to inspire others and just be appreciative of those small moments. I definitely recommend trying to incorporate this for all my neurodivergent folks and everyone looking to add a helpful habit to their morning routine. Much love friends. - Maha🤍
I've been having a bummer time recently, just kinda down in the dumps, and this video put the biggest smile on my face. The "and I also shed" made me laugh. Thank you so much for bringing joy to my Sunday morning
Love a good declutter. ✨ I've been working on keeping my wardrobe down by doing a few things: Establishing a color palette. There are a total of like 6 colors in my entire wardrobe. Wearing only what I love and what makes me feel good. I like to ask myself my 3 Cs. Does this make me feel confident? Do I think it's cute? Is it comfortable? Thrifting with intention. I have a list of specific things I'm looking for and do not stray from that. I've also been trying not to buy items that only serve one purpose or can only be worn in specific events. I like my whole wardrobe to do it all for anything at any time. 😆 When I declutter, I try not to keep anything that I just kinda like. If it's not a definite yes or I find myself rationalizing having it, it needs to go. I try not to have duplicate items unless it's just something I really love in another color or style. Anyone else trying to declutter can also try a hanger trick I've heard of to help visually see what you do and don't wear. When you wear an item, turn the hanger around or separate it from the items you haven't worn. Keep a tally if you need to, but this way you'll visually see what you're wearing consistently every month. If I haven't touched an item in months and it isn't because of the season, then I typically get rid of it. You could also try removing one item when you buy another to avoid bulk or building that back up. You can also donate, resell, or recycle the unwanted items. Some areas have textile recycling facilities which I think is super helpful.
omg this is perfect timing. i just put a whole bunch of clothes on my bed to sort out last night. got tired and slept on the couch lol. going to work on this today
I will happily snatch that Betsey Johnson dress and the iGirl dress!! Love the style & I can imagine some fun ways to wear it. I have increasingly grown to love your videos and your low key approach overall. Plus this has inspired me to pull out everything I’ve been meaning to get rid of and actually host a whatnot show.
I know you'll already know this but don't be afraid to go to a tailor! I kept telling myself I was gonna fix a pair of jeans and trousers as they both had rips and loved them dearly. BUT. I was terrified of ruining it forever so never did it and couldn't wear them for nearly a year, finally did it as the new year hit and I live in them both now. Literally 20 quid and I could wear them again and was worth every single penny!
love Renaissance green top :) my favorite too ! my y2k tip as a girl born in the 70s....we shopped the gap kids clearance section for baby tees :) so much better when thrifted
For the pieces that you need altered but are afraid you may ruin if you do it, take it to a tailor! You may feel more comfortable taking it to a professional if you're afraid of your personal sewing skills
Loved this video! It was a lot of fun, and loved how you showed your personality cracking jokes and getting excited over clothes. A couple of the pieces you got rid of made me so sad but I am happy to see you refining your closet!
I am going to do this now! I'm glad you're listing to your heart and resisting all the pressure of the world 💛 That is something I'm practicing as well!
I love how you explained your process for deciding what to keep! Now that I’ve finally nailed down my own witchy style, I’m inspired to follow your lead & clear out my closet too ✨
Love the pure authenticity of this vid lady. Paring down is 1) work and 2) sometimes the end result is underwhelming visually … but it feels so good to get done! Hope Aunt Flo has left the building for you by now lol
Love that long denim dress! As a duster, I would try styling with dark wash (or black) jeans and the blue floral crop top. I usually like pairing longer jackets with either equally long skirts or just pants. It's easier to get proportions right that way 🌻
I needed to hear "even if it's cute, I don't have to keep it"...I have several things in my closet right now that I'm going to purge based on that quote. Thank you :)
I just did a closet clean out, but before i donate the clothes I said goodbye to...I keep them off to the side for a week. If I don't go in the bags for a certain item, I know it's ok to donate them with no regrets.
I’ve seen other TH-camrs do videos where they style items in their wardrobe they like but don’t know how to wear & if they can’t make it work then it’s gone. I know Carrie did a video recently too recreating outfits from her own wardrobe to help find ways to style your wardrobe ❤
i swear by the method of trying everything on. it takes sooo much energy (mental and physical) but it truly forces me to try in things i’ve never worn or haven’t worn yet and evaluate. i like to wear my fav top or bottom and/or style each piece slightly to get a good picture of if i’d wear it. i “declutter” all the time, but never as much as when o do this method. i only do it like twice a year, but wish i had the energy to do it more 🫶
Alexa if you ever want to pass on the northwest airlines sweater I call first dibs! 🤣 but actually I love it so much because it reminds me of my childhood flying alone as a minor back and forth from Canada to visit family in the USA on northwest airlines and all of the amazing flight attendants who took care of me ❤️ I have been lurking eBay to find a similar one for a long time now ever since I first saw you wear it in a video a while ago!
I literally bought the same Jo Bros Happiness Begins shirt today! I immediately thought of you when I found it because I remembered you passing on a Happiness Begins shirt at the Good Will bins lol!
I was also adopting a mindset of understanding I like the item doesn’t mean I need it, if it doesn’t make me feel good about myself when I wear it. Also not spending pointless time on items that I know I won’t wear, but keeping them for the sake of “I’ll make it work”. I won’t, otherwise I’d already have done so. No “only of this small detail would be a little different id feel better about it”. No “let me see if I can style it some way”, again, it should be easily working with my wardrobe, because if I’d have to spend time brainstorming how to wear it, I won’t, I will pick something I’m already confident about and in. Also stopped reworking so many clothes just to give them a “chance”, because most times I end up still not liking the item and now it’s harder for someone else to actually thrift it and enjoy it, because it was tailored for me in some way, especially if it’s not professionally done and I can’t take back to original form easily. Only when it’s 100% obvious I love already how item looks, but small tailoring will look neat and make it even better, then I’m gonna go for it. In short- if it’s not a clear “yes”, it’s a no. I’m not gonna work for my clothes, clothes are supposed to work for me.
That green square neck tank top is the bomb! Anyone knows where it is from? Love these kind of videos - I am so bad at getting rid of clothes so they are always a good reminder and give great tips! :D
Omg I just a full ass closet cleanout myself, and the only way I managed to keep going was to imagine I was a youtuber hahah (I did film two reels for the vintage dresses, but everything else I did off cam haha) Oh and if you rewind and slow down and zoom in when you’re trying on the white lace jumpsuit, I think your face tells how you feel 😂
Hi Alexa I was was watching your were you try on everything in your closet. And wanted to know where I can get the grumpy bear tank top you had in your video. He is my favorite care bear. Love it!
Hey Alexa! Just wondering where you got the Koi Footwear western boot from? I noticed you got rid of them because of the sizing. I’m looking to get the same pair. Do they run big? Love your videos 🤍
Depop! I’m usually a solid 9.5 but I can do a 9 sometimes and a 10 and they were too loose. I tried inserts to help and it did so I could walk in them but ended up getting other cowboy boots that fit me better and liked more but they were still super cute!
After watching you go through your entire closet makes me want to do it, I know there are definitely pieces that I don’t wear but I’m just hanging onto. They’re so cute, but I don’t wear them 😭
Really random but where did you get the jeans you're wearing ( while trying on tops) +the style of them. They're so cute and I've been needing a pair of blue jeans
This is random Alexa, and idk if you’re on the same side of tiktok as me lol, but would you ever consider getting your colour season done and then styling clothes you already have or thrifting based on that season?
You mentioned wanting to analyze 'your colors', I think that would make a good video! I am guessing you'd be a light or soft summer. And that's why that green turtleneck looks a little off, because it's a warmer autumn green. You don't always have to follow your "best" colors all the time though. I am a soft summer and they aren't suppose to wear black, but I wear black all the time lol. It's just for fun and for content, it doesn't mean you have to follow those rules. Another good video would be analyzing your Kibbe body type. You're tall so I am guessing "soft dramatic" or "soft natural" type. Most of the Kibbe types seem to be for shorter women , so tall women always end up either natural or dramatic.
I got wayyyy too excited when I saw your video pop up and it's a closet clean out 😂🤣 just went yes it's a closet clean out in my monster impression voice 😂🤣 I think I may have OCD or something, I just love closet clean outs, i love doing it myself, I always give my clothes away to my aunties, nan, and my nan even offered it to my aunts carer which makes me so happy. I dont ask for money or anything in return but my nan did offer me her rug which I've been looking for the perfect rug for years, I wanted a light green cottage looking rug and the one she gave me was exactly what i wanted. It's also vintage so soooo heavy and great quality. I'm obssessed.
if i really love something and don’t want to tailor it myself i will actually go to a tailor (or my mom who is much better at sewing than me) because I’m like i want this done right enough to pay for it, a skirt would probably be 20$ to take in how you want and i think is so worth it if you aren’t confident in yourself and don’t have something else to practice with
this is so obnoxious but what is the brand on the first black tee? I have realized that that sleeve cut is the type I feel best in and I struggle to find them 😅
I agree that the square neckline looks more flattering on your figure. In my personal opinion, the silky pink v-neck tank just had something off about it. It was a beautiful tank but not my favorite for you. Also, absolutely NOTHING wrong with keeping multiple Jonas Brothers t-shirts, especially if it's an older concert tee!
ur right about the broad shoulders!! i have naturally broad shoulder + a inverted triangle body shape so i know v necks work, but square necks def work on u way more !!
⏳️ Hourglass here. My shoulders are actually in line w/my "X" proportions, however a well constructed shoulder (even a shoulder pad) can ➡️minimize⬅️ the appearance of more ⬅️generous bust & hips➡️. 🪄 Shoulder definition on our garments can make a HUGE visual difference. While wearing slouchy shirts or cardigans can make us seem heavier🤣. 👩🏫Know the experts say we should wear v-necks, deeper round necks, square necks, sweetheart necks, boat necks, etc. Basically, anything that shows off more of our neck & collarbone can help reduce our bust. Except on me most of those ⬇️ lower & wider ↔️ necklines also expose cleavage😳. That's something I personally detest🤬. 😉Given a choice I'd rather wear a crew or high round neck, & try to enhance my shoulder structure more. A more body-con or tailored top that shows off our waist definition is our saving grace. Plus, I'm fanatical about using color to best advantage. Prefer to establish continuous column of ↕️ vertical monochromatic color (vs choppy color blocks) to help visually elongate & minimize my curvy figure. When you have a low waist & longer torso, your legs can seem stumpy 🪵 (esp. in the wrong bottom). You gotta use every trick you can stand in your arsenal to help fool the 👁eye. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

Please sell the two tone boots on depop instead of donating them! I'll buy them in a heartbeat and you can donate the money to a better charity!
Thanks so much for the awesome video! Would love to have the alohas boots donated to me if you're going to give them away 😏🤣

As someone with a pretty small closet and 3 Jonas brothers t-shirts… I agree with the opening statement 😂
For that dress duster combo… put on a black waist belt, some black boots… bam.
Really random but where did you get the jeans you're wearing ( while trying on tops) +the style of them. They're so cute and I've been needing a pair of blue jeans
Resize the floral skirt, it's so cute 😊
Oh the care bear tank top is so me 🌧️
Oooh I really love the leaf cardigan 😊
I can't believe you're getting rid of the black fall cardigan 😭 I love it 🖤 🎃 You could gift the green turtle neck to Jenna 💚
Some but I do not no my on esthetic. Our video today was calming to me satisfying.
“I don’t think there is anything wrong with owning two Jonas Brothers t-shirts…” Me staring at my collection of BTS merch and clothing 💜
this Jonas Brothers 2019 Tee is my favorite
Ahh I need those purple boots! Please let me buy them!😂
This is random Alexa, and idk if you’re on the same side of tiktok as me lol, but would you ever consider getting your colour season done and then styling clothes you already have or thrifting based on that season?
I also wanted to know were you got you black pooh crew sweater. I love pooh. Where can I get it.
I got it from depop ! just searched Winnie the Pooh crewnecks ❤
You could dye the charcoal jeans black if you like them (since the fit is good and it’s hard to find great fitting pairs).
Could you turn the denim dress into a 2 piece set? It could be a fun video! I know I would watch it!
Great threads and kix! Strawberry Sweater #1
if i really love something and don’t want to tailor it myself i will actually go to a tailor (or my mom who is much better at sewing than me) because I’m like i want this done right enough to pay for it, a skirt would probably be 20$ to take in how you want and i think is so worth it if you aren’t confident in yourself and don’t have something else to practice with
this is so obnoxious but what is the brand on the first black tee? I have realized that that sleeve cut is the type I feel best in and I struggle to find them 😅
omg those purple heeled boots, what brand are those??
Alohas! ❤️
@@alexasunshine83 thank youuu :)
I definitely need to do this!
ur right about the broad shoulders!! i have naturally broad shoulder + a inverted triangle body shape so i know v necks work, but square necks def work on u way more !!

Oh and I’d say you are a cool summer for sure
How do I purchase the fall cardigan and Pooh Halloween sweatshirt omg
Nice work as always
You should take the gorgeous floral skirt to a tailor!
i think you already know the colors you likes. look toward summer season ;)
