For me personally, I would get rid of the denim dress if you are constantly picking the other over it. There is no need to have two of the same dress that serves the same purpose. I was able to get rid of so much of my clothing with this mentality and feel more inspired since I love everything in my closet. Example, I used to own so many cream knit sweaters and I recently thrifted this one that I constantly wear and I realized that if I really liked my other cream knits I would've worn them already and in the month i've had the new one i've already worn in 3 times. I got rid of the sweaters because clearly I liked the newer one the most
I wonder if documenting you actually wearing these new outfits out of the house would help you determine whether to keep an item or not. Something like a real-life “test drive” for the pieces!
I’ve been doing this myself lately - if I thrift it I have to at least wear it. So it’s been cool, it’s forced me to try some different styles and now I’m thinking about reworking those into even more wearable looks…. Kinda a fun middle ground challenge lol
I recently finished the 75 Hard Style Challenge, and it forced me to do exactly that. I'm pleased to say I'm proud of how many of my pieces I actually wore, but actually, what I realised was missing from my wardrobe were 'basics' 😂
Shopping my own closest is one of my BIG goals this year 2023(since I practically own a store) today I’m wearing a blouse I’ve never worn before and freaking LOVING it! Time to be more sustainable, budget friendly and conscious/creative with my choices!
I might be going a different direction here- but I say- if you've had it and never wore it, be gone with it. you have SO many fantastic clothes you love, don't stress about things you can't love
Those burgandy velvet pants stole my heart. They are gorgeous, and you look great in them. They could be worn with a white button up and black sweater-vest, or even dressed down with a graphic t-shirt. I think they are super versatile. I understand that you aren't vibing with them, though. I personally would lurv a pair for myself. 😻
I saw those pants and instantly my mind went to how many shirts I have in my own closet I’d LOVE to style with them! Just goes to show-one man’s trash is another man’s treasure haha ❤
Just had to say - the green 1st outfit with the sweater vest and swirl pants… it’s a look, girl. The print mixing compliment one another and actually looked like elevated style to me. 👏👏👏
@@alexasunshine83 Aww! You have a great sense of style - don’t ever doubt that! 🧡 We all have those days where we question it or have a tough time putting pieces together we feel confident about - but those days pass and better days come 🥰 Was glad to see you felt like moving away from Pinterest a bit - feel like it’ll possibly be uncomfortable at first without it as much, but will allow your personal style to bloom even more… and that’s what we all are here for - YOUR style 🧡 Keep doing what you do, girl. 😎
For the cheetah print dress, I envision either tiny bows there on the straps or those big bows on the tops of your shoulders making it look like you tie the straps together there. You can also put a half corset over top; like the ones that just go around your torso! And I looove the wine colored velvet pants look! You rock it :)
Just a few ideas - bc u mentioned that u like the tennis skirt to be covered up, try it with a loose or oversized crewneck, it gives more of a sporty than a preppy vibe! For the velvet pants - try it maybe with white, it's more unexpected. Just a simple crop top or even a white puff sleeve blouse. That way it's not just "dark vibes" - if u know what I mean :) Great video btw
You could try camouflaging the v-neck of that denim dress with your peter pan collar blouse and necklaces, it could look cute. But honestly if I don't like the fit of the upper part of a dress I would most of the time wear it as a skirt with oversized cropped sweater.
For the denim dress, you could maybe sew a bit of elastic on the inside of the dress (either all the way around or just a bit in the back). That way you can define the waist however much you want without needing a belt, and you can always remove the elastic if ends up looking funky. Either way, hope you find a solution that works for you!
I’m about to order one of those waist snatching clip things that were on my mom’s dresses from the 80s… no joke. I was thinking about what would change one of my garments into something I’d wear… and I realized one of those would do it.
@@alexasunshine83 if you don’t already know how to do that (i feel like for some reason you can crochet but idk why i think that) i’m sure jenna could teach you lol
I definitely like the idea of going back through your closet and finding what you actually have and truly love or don't love. Also you should do another monochromatic outfits video with clothes you have in your closet. We would love to see it.
I think the key is to just go with your gut. Lately when I’ve been feeling in a slump about what I’m wearing, I choose one piece to focus on and then the first thing that I gravitate towards after that until I have a complete outfit. You end up with some really cool, out of the box outfits that way. Don’t over think it. You have great style decisions!
Here's how I'd style these for you: 1. denim dress: with an oversized knitted sweater (maybe in cream color) over it. 2. pleated black skirt: with a shorter band t-shirt, layered with plaid flannel, and sheer black stockings, for more grungy/punky look 3. cheetah dress: rocker chick style with black leather biker jacket and chunky chain necklaces 4. velvet pants: 70's style with a striped turtleneck sweater and Converse sneakers 5. and 6. pairing bloomer shorts with the pink knitted sweater, or any fuzzy oversized sweater, for a cute and cozy lounge look 7. swirly pants: add a black satin bomber jacket for a cool streetwear style 8. long shorts: with a blazer as a suit 😁
On the denim dress you not taking advantage that you can just use it as a vest just leave it open or close the first 2 snaps leave the rest open and throw some fun printed pants underneath. Those shoes at 11:54 are sooo cute. I like the marble pant with the green boots, or you could have put on some other white boots or something. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the new year.
I think you could style the tennis skirt with an oversized sweatshirt and maybe some sneakers. It would be very casual and comfortable outfit with a peek of cuteness from the skirt.
I have to say, I love that first denim dress! It has wonderful drape and flow that, in my opinion, completely counteracts the "shapelessness" that you described. It looks very cute with the t shirt, but it would also look great with a light colored, patterned, short sleeve collared shirt/button down! I especially love it with those red cowboy boots- it has a very comfortable, slight childishness (in a good way!! and very slight!) I feel like sailor moon would be a great inspo starting place for styling that dress!
I LOVED the plum colored plush pants the way you had them styled, but you have to like it. And I'm crazy about the first look for those green and blue pants! That was perfect!
I, too, am working on shopping my closet. I love your style! I really liked the all green look. It's fun, unique, and a breath of fresh air from simply dressing in basics. Embrace your bold fashion choices!
This has inspired me to shop in my own closet. I have so many pieces I have never worn because I don't know how to style them. I have some skirts I've never worn and I never thought to pair them with a long t-shirt. Definitely going to try that look out. Thank you for the inspo!
I LOVE the pink sweater with the denim dress. I'm just a sucker for the pastel pink and blue combo in general. I also think its totally fine that the sweater is a bit more loose and bulky. Great video !
Everyone should video themselves trying on 'meh' clothes like this... Alexa’s shoulder scrunching and grimaces tell the tale, lol! Making it work is fine, but probably better to just wear the clothes you feel great in!
You should do a video or a video series where you style outfits w what you have in your closet but once you pair pieces together you can’t pair them together/in that way again and see how many outfits you get/like! It would maybe inspire you to pair pieces together that you typically wouldn’t!
Shopping in your closet and reenvisioning items is good thing, but sometimes it's just better to let some things go instead of just keeping them to "just wear around the house" because you most likely won't.
Jean dress: white tee under, flannel around the waist, docs. Black tennis skirt: just like you styled it but with a jean jacket. Animal print dress: definitely a belt, a sheer black top underneath, and tall boots. Could also wear the pink sweater over top and tucked into the belt in the front. Or, animal print dress, heels and an oversized cardigan. I'd go for red but nearly any solid color would work. Burgundy pants: white graphic tee with a big graphic, a fluffy headband, docs. Also would pair well with the animal print dress tucked in.
i love how you tried to make each outfit different. If i dont like an item of clothing or feel uncomfy with a bottom, i will wear a black turtle neck, claw clip in my hair, lots of jewelry and my black leather trench coat. in terms of shoes, its always my jadon docs. I need to branch out more lol
This thought process helps me get rid of things I’m not using: Usually we’re keeping the item because we regret the purchase. We’re keeping it to give ourselves the opportunity to prove the regret wrong, BUT it actually only KEEPS REMINDING us of the guilt we feel for not using it! What’s best is to take the loss on the chin, and GET RID of the thing that’s making us feel bad about ourselves. Hope that helps! And just to be clear, I do also love the idea of trying to make pieces work as well. Great video Alexa!
I think that pink sweater would look so cute with the black tennis skirt peaking out the bottom with those cow print cowboy boots on, you could even put black or white ribbons in your hair too! Or an out of the box fun diy would be to put small black ribbons all over the sweater.
I've become quite brutal when it comes to my closet clean outs because if I don't 😅 oh boy my wardrobe would be so overwhelming. If I don't wear it, if it doesn't bring joy, it's gotta go!
Idea for the wavy patterned pants: pair with graphics! Graphic tees/tops have the unique quality of going with both patterns & basics & I got my patterned flares specifically to toss them on with graphic tees for a little pizzazz!
Love this style of video! For the first dress, I'd try it with a scarf as a belt! It would bring in more color, and you can make sure it lays over that seam ❤
I just found your channel yesterday! I’m obsessed, you have such great positive energy ❤️ I’m looking to buy some doc martins so I’ve been watching your shoe videos a lot. I absolutely love your shoe collection and clothes!
Similar to how you do the videos of you styling our fashion dilemmas, maybe you could do a video trying all of the comment ideas for the prices you find it hard to wear
You could wear a chunky knit in red over the denim dress. That would look cool with the red boots, you could even use the same belt to tuck the sweater in it.
I would type in 'denim dress outfit' to look for inspo for a specific peace into Pinterest or 'Whimsygoth outfits' or '90's grunge' into Pinterest for some aesthetic inspo that's my go to when I can't style a piece or on TH-cam for that matter. I think any puff sleeve top will look killer under the dark coloured jean dress or a striped tee shirt or long sleeve underneath or a turtle neck definitely a Phoebe from friends or 90's grunge style will work to make the outfit more wearable especially with your lace up doc Martin boots. The velvet pants give off strong whimsygoth vibes so an oversized sweater would work great over the top or do the same outfit as in the video just add a moon or sun chain belt over the top. The same with the black pleated skirt if you did a whimsy goth, grunge, goth or punk outfit you would love the tennis skirt more as it's an alternative fashion outfit staple. I would do white tee, wavy pants and white sneakers or white boots to match the pants and make it more casual. A plain white or green sweater that matches the colour in the pants is also a good pairing. A denim jacket with the white tee and pants would work as well. Lean into the rockstar girlfriend/90's grunge for the leopard print dress and pile on the accessories that match the Hardwear on a leather biker moto style jacket the oversized leather moto jacket would work well and give you a 80's maddona rock chick vibe. Love your vids as always!!
i would personally style that cheetah dress with a denim jacket and either docs (bc i have them) or a nice pair of tall black leather boots (i do not have those). maybe even go slightly 80's inspired with my hair and makeup, or do a little "indie sleaze" moment
For the denim dress with a V neck since the buttons go all the way down run with it as a duster. Take something very sheer and soft with a square neck as a base layer (preferably a square neck lacey shirt maybe your white peasant blouse top) for bottoms go tighter rather than looser, maybe bike shorts. Wear your red cowgirl boots.
Yesss I love your videos ! I like the thrifting videos where you take us with you ! Can you do one where your friends or family pick out something at the store that’s completely new to your style
The outfit with the velvet pants really gave me galentine vibes, which is a good thing! :) but of course you shouldn't wear something you don't feel comfortable in💛 i also really liked the "basic" outfit with your black shorts. I hope to thrift a similar pair before summer!
I would have the denim dress tailored so that the waist fits better! The animal print dress needs black sheer/opaque sleeves under it 💗 i don't mind it with or without the belt, either is fine imo
I actually loved the green pants with the green sweater vest or the green boots! And for the denim dress have you ever tried wearing it open over something else like it's a long vest or duster? I'm not much of a dress person so i prefer to do something like that with my dresses
The denim dress if it unbuttons I'd leave it open as a duster/ vest with either a colorful bodycon dress under or leggings and a tank under...I also would have styled that pink sweater with the burgundy pants you weren't crazy about
I love these types of videos!!! Weirdly enough I loved the wine colored pants on you!! They are so beautiful but all the outfits you came up with made me excited to dig into my own closet ❤
All of your outfits were amazing!! I actually quite liked the cheetah print dress without the belt! However, if you want it shorter/tighter I've seen some put safety pins on the sides and maybe you can add a ribbon/satin belt to tie another bow in the back? Also, I'm curious- where did you get those mary janes? They're super cute and look like the perfect height for light walking!
HI! For the cheetah print dress, how about putting the bows still on the straps, but on your shoulders? Like the illusion if you tied the straps together on top of your shoulders! Like with the top you wear with the velvet reformation pants!
I have the same thing with v-necks! Not sure if it's been suggested, but maybe turning the denim dress around so the buttons are in the back? You could cut it to be more of a square neckline if it is too high, and use it more like a pinafore!
I think the green pants with the green sweater vest could work, just put something white & long-sleeved under the vest and try to match all the accessories to that white.
First off; sunshine is such a good moniker for you!🌞I think you should take the top off the denim dress and make it into a maxi skirt. And I think you should wear the tennis skirt underneath the leopard print to give it a little fullness and interest. Also, nay on the Mary Jane's with that outfit.
I love the bloomers look but can never find a pair. Plus I live in a place that gets very cold. They do seem hard to style. But I think they look the cutest when they only peak out. Like from a short dress or a long top. Also loved the green pants. I would style them with a crème/ yellow top and platform sneakers. Kinda like a spice girls look 😂. I love vids like this!! Where you restyle outfits already in your closet. I love just playing around with mixing and matching the same pieces and finding new ways to wear things.
Maybe you could try the pink sweater with the first denim dress, since I think the dress would give you more armpit room. I think it’s awesome to try different outfit combos with pieces you are iffy about at first instead of just giving up, but if it just isn’t working and you’ve tried and tried, I’m a firm believer that the problem is not with you, it is with the piece of clothing. Like the velvet pants and bloomers, you recognized you weren’t comfortable in them, and it’s more important to prioritize your comfort and learn from this experience than stress yourself out and keep something that just clutters your closet.
I think the AA skirt would look cute with the white tee and black sweater vest you wore in the video with your red blazer or an oversized jean jacket with black docs
the black shorts look amazing on you!! Very simply and nice look n.n I have a green shirt with the same pattern that your pants have and I can't find a way to style in a way it connects to me right now, but i love the pattern!!
The leopard dress - I would wear it long (without the bows) and then add a wide obi belt at the waist to shorten and highlight....and then add a proportional jacket. I would 💗 to get my hands on a piece like that!!! Note: I prefer a preppier style than you, so my suggestion would not be for you, but for me if I wore it...... Just to clarify
The first outfit I would do a stripy turtle neck underneath with tennis shoes, loafers or platform. Something that shows the ankle to balance all the fabric on top. I would still go with the belt as well maybe a black one to match the shoes. For the second outfit I would pair a graphic turtle neck with a turtle neck and tennis shoes with chunky socks.
The denim dress, I’d keep it and wear with bike shorts and a fitted t when thrifting so you could take it off and try things on when the fitting rooms aren’t available.
14:06 literally when you had the green vest on and then the green boots i was like “put on black shoes and a black leather jacket” and you did! omggg!!!!😃😃😃now the pants look so cute to me.
For me personally, I would get rid of the denim dress if you are constantly picking the other over it. There is no need to have two of the same dress that serves the same purpose. Lean into the rockstar girlfriend/90's grunge for the leopard print dress and pile on the accessories that match the Hardwear on a leather biker moto style jacket the oversized leather moto jacket would work well and give you a 80's maddona rock chick vibe.
Love your vids as always!!
The burgundy pants are sooo cute. And I love love the top. You could also wear the pants with large bands tees for a more casual look.
i would personally style that cheetah dress with a denim jacket and either docs (bc i have them) or a nice pair of tall black leather boots (i do not have those). maybe even go slightly 80's inspired with my hair and makeup, or do a little "indie sleaze" moment
I also really liked your first version of the last outfit! Don’t doubt yourself
🥹❤️
The denim dress- I’d either put a bolero with it OR but a crewneck over it with cute sneakers & hair claw clip for a casual look ❤
But also! I love this, some of my favorite videos of yours are where you shop your closet for trends. ❤️❤️❤️ Good job!
Yesss I love your videos ! I like the thrifting videos where you take us with you ! Can you do one where your friends or family pick out something at the store that’s completely new to your style
The outfit with the velvet pants really gave me galentine vibes, which is a good thing! :) but of course you shouldn't wear something you don't feel comfortable in💛
i also really liked the "basic" outfit with your black shorts. I hope to thrift a similar pair before summer!
Yessss I was hoping you would do another one of these videos!!! I love seeing your thought process behind styling each piece!
I would have the denim dress tailored so that the waist fits better!
The animal print dress needs black sheer/opaque sleeves under it 💗 i don't mind it with or without the belt, either is fine imo
The pink sweater under the denim dress is so cute!
Love, love, love, love the black pleated skirt. I wish it was in my closet. I also love the wine colored velvet pants
the suit shorts are amazing
I actually loved the green pants with the green sweater vest or the green boots! And for the denim dress have you ever tried wearing it open over something else like it's a long vest or duster? I'm not much of a dress person so i prefer to do something like that with my dresses
i have green swigly pants and for me on me they go with everything; fashion is really subjective!!
The denim dress if it unbuttons I'd leave it open as a duster/ vest with either a colorful bodycon dress under or leggings and a tank under...I also would have styled that pink sweater with the burgundy pants you weren't crazy about
That is what I was going to suggest, use the denim as a vest/duster!
the denim dress would look cute as like a vest or something. the top of that outfit looks cute
I love these types of videos!!! Weirdly enough I loved the wine colored pants on you!! They are so beautiful but all the outfits you came up with made me excited to dig into my own closet ❤
Awwww yay! ❤️❤️
I love the denim dress! Maybe try leaving it open and trying to style it as a long denim vest almost!
If I ever feel this way about this item, it’s out of my wardrobe pretty fast. Luckily it doesn’t happen super often
For the first dress, you should try putting a patterned shirt under it! Maybe something red floral to match your cool cowgirl boots!
I'm really loving the tapestry heels from today's styling video with the denim dress and pink sweater!
I didn’t even realize I styled them in a similar way here 😅😅
those maroon pants are so beautiful! they look fantastic on you
I NEED TO SEE A CROPPED DENIM JACKET OVER THE CHEETA PRINT DRESS
HI! For the cheetah print dress, how about putting the bows still on the straps, but on your shoulders? Like the illusion if you tied the straps together on top of your shoulders!
Like with the top you wear with the velvet reformation pants!
the cheetah print dress would look so cute with a black turtleneck underneath!!
I agree the original jean dress is too much on the bottom for your frame the other one is perfect
I think a wide corset belt might do the trick with the denim dress because it would cover the seam the thinner belt doesn't reach
First off; sunshine is such a good moniker for you!🌞I think you should take the top off the denim dress and make it into a maxi skirt. And I think you should wear the tennis skirt underneath the leopard print to give it a little fullness and interest. Also, nay on the Mary Jane's with that outfit.
you are so kind :) also oooh that would be fun and maybe then I would wear it more (regarding the maxi skirt)!
For the long denim button up dress, what if you styled it unbuttoned layered over a dress?
It's been a while since I've been here but being back already is making me smile
Loved the green vest and wavy pants moment and the bows... a vibe!!!!
Wavy pants with the sweater vest worked.
Once you thrifted this long denim dress I decided I needed one in my life and have been on the hunt ever since
Hear me out:
1. White button up, pink sweater, tennis skirt peek a boo and docs
2. White crop top, green wavy pants, denim jacket, and white sneakers
I think the animal print dress is soo cute. I’d wear it with black sheer tights, a cropped black cardigan and black lace up creepers
Thank you for this video! You acrually inspired me to wear denim dress+sweater combo again!!
I think the AA skirt would look cute with the white tee and black sweater vest you wore in the video with your red blazer or an oversized jean jacket with black docs
This is such a good idea!! Maybe this will help me get rid of some of my clothes! 💕
the black shorts look amazing on you!! Very simply and nice look n.n
I have a green shirt with the same pattern that your pants have and I can't find a way to style in a way it connects to me right now, but i love the pattern!!
I absolutely adore the first dress and it is something I've had on my wishlist for a while but cannot seem to find
Ah I have my fingers crossed for you !!
👌🏼👌🏼
The denim dress, I’d keep it and wear with bike shorts and a fitted t when thrifting so you could take it off and try things on when the fitting rooms aren’t available.
Have you tried styling that denim dress like a duster or a long vest - open over jeans or other pants?
I love the black trouser shorts!!
14:06 literally when you had the green vest on and then the green boots i was like “put on black shoes and a black leather jacket” and you did! omggg!!!!😃😃😃now the pants look so cute to me.
