Very recent, he is over 500lb's trying to change, he's recording youtube video's of his process but as of this month, February 2019 he's still over 500lbs on a keto diet and I'm trying to convince him to reach out to some of the Vegan MD's you have on your show. I thought I would relay his progress to you incase you have any outreach with those doctors because I think they can save this mans life and he would just be an incredible roll model and hero for others and his family if he succeeds!

Wheat is inflammatory and addictive. All of these autoimmune diseases are linked to inflammation. And i don't want to have any sorts of cravings. I was addicted to pasta for years. whole-grain, refined ,for me it's the same shit. I don't think it's a coïncidence that there is a fast-growing disease caused by wheat consumption.

      After joining the Vegan cult people continue to deteriorate, not only physically but also mentally, more and more as time goes on due to malnutrition and brain shrinkage, so it's not surprising they get more and more extreme. Also because some people are so deeply fooled and indoctrinated by the Vegan cult propaganda, as they inevitable decline and suffer other physical consequences such as digestive issues, they are more inclined to try to "cleanse" and fast in an attempt to fix all the issues they develop from Vegan malnutrition and since they are so brainwashed they keep trying more and more extreme things instead of just snapping out of it, leaving the Vegan cult behind and nourishing and healing themselves with real food again.

    • @iNicky777

      @@folksurvival I do agree that a lot of vegans act cultish and jump on every fad diet trend without doing proper research before hand and therefore giving veganism a bad name. For me personally, I do believe that you can thrive on a vegan diet, from doing a lot of research and trying it for myself, however it might be difficult at times to find all the supplies you need. Those certain vegan doctors that discounted fat as pure evil really messed me up and my heath as a result. So nice to see some sanity and balance in the vegan community.

    • @ZippyPV
      @ZippyPV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Good luck friend, hope you get better. I just want to add something for other people like yourself. "Those" fat fearing doctors usually get taken their words out of context, i dont want to mix up names as i dont have good memory for names and alike, but usually they are the ones who deal with diabetes and cardiovascular patients for which they recomend low fat diats due to their prone risk of death due to those problems which fat is a major contributor. Now, a pretty healthy person with low risk of such problems who watches such video out of context but just wanting to get more information about their new path as vegan may misunderstand. For adequet person with low or no risk at all, fat from nuts and other healtht sources is not bad, but may instead help, but like with everything, moderation is gold. Like in this videos introduction they spoke that too much peanute butter or other added fats still cause acne, which means they could have reached their treshhold. This leads me to my advice. Experiment, try new recipes, find great combinations such as black pepper and turmeric which rises antioxidant power up to 2000% 🤔😂😂 eat healthy, stay healthy, be fit. Also people shouldnt beat themselves over eating animal products once in a while. I mean its better to eat some meat instead of starving. You can make your own dish to take to a party, but if you eat out with friends and they are not so understanding... Its a bullet which is hard to dodge. Stay strong ❤️

I also haven't had an ovarian cyst attack since I started this diet one year ago. Not all these doctors are going to agree. I used to let this bother me so much, now I just go with what works for me. I tried Joel's diet for some time and still had acne :( The closer we get to whole foods the better and I agree that we all will have to tweak our diet until we find out how to thrive.

    Thank you for mentioning the need for B12. Almost all the films on the plant-based diet avoid the subject of B12, meaning that the audience is set up for failure if they do not eventually learn about the need for B12. Presentations on animal rights usually avoid the subject of B12 because of motivation to present the PB diet as 100% complete, setting up the audience for failure. This issue of B12 may have tripped up many millions of well-intentioned people who have tried the PB diet, then eventually became debilitated, then returned to eating meat, all because of lack of B12.

      I know vegan people (10, 20, 6 years or more long), with no or sparingly comsuption of b12 and they were or are healthy. B12 human sources are not enough studied yet, but a b12 supplement won't do any harm, even more, it should be recommended for everyone, as b12 deficiency or low level is a widespread problem in all population.

    People spend decades getting sick but expect the treatment to be an instant cure - whether pill, diet, fasting - but healing takes time!
    We can't go vegan for a week or month or even year and expect a miracle. Yes many people have that experience but everyone's biology is different.
    And when healing, there is often a period of detox where the body feels safe enough to deal with a bunch of garbage from the past, and that healing process almost always feels worse that when you started.

    • @agingintobeauty
      @agingintobeauty 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @jacob shears I don't make the definitions, I just use the vocabulary. A healing process is a state of returning to health - as stated in the dictionary.

    • @agingintobeauty
      @agingintobeauty 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @jacob shears When the body is in a state of dis-ease or imbalance and is suffering one strives to end suffering by attaining a state of balance by reaching optimal biological functions...
      That is to say going from feeling bad to feeling better... not in a temporary fix, like illegal drug use, but in a long term, body functioning properly, all functions normal, therefore you feel good manner.

    • @agingintobeauty
      @agingintobeauty 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @jacob shears YOU don't heal the body, Jacob. You give your body the nutrients it needs to heal itself. Doctors dont heal. Medicine doesnt heal. Surgery doesn't heal.
      The body is the ONLY thing that heals the body. Our job is to not feed the body toxins and to feed the body the essential elements it uses to keep the body functioning & regenerating.

    • @agingintobeauty
      @agingintobeauty 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @jacob shears Clearly you have done zero research or youd know that the doctor in this video - in fact any "plant based" doctor has written books & books detailing all the things to eat in order to achieve health, with scientific data to support their claims. Go buy their books and get educated.

    • @agingintobeauty
      @agingintobeauty 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @jacob shears Yes, I can answer it but I'm not going to. Many doctors have already done that in books & lectures. I'm not offering my opinion. I'm expressing information that has been documented. Go read it for yourself.

    absolutely love how you pushed him to answer controversial issues. The SIBO issue is very interesting because there are indeed multiple doctors who I respect highly who think SIBO is not a significant issue whereas other people think it is and seem to be able to provide evidence from health organisations and they have a lot of conviction in what they say. So I have yet to make my mind up on that. I think 955 low fat high carb has been debunked for quite a while but I do tend to still eat at least maybe 70/15/15. I think it's less about the macros and more about the quality of food. I'm a fan of Fuhrman but wonder if his approach is maybe a bit too high fibre and low energy for someone like myself but I do very much enjoy his take on things and try to incorporate as much advice from his as possible inside of an otherwise more mcdougall style way of eating.

      Fuhrman found that a small caloric deficit promotes longevity so his recommendation that is loaded with beneficial compounds and synergistic mechanisms by default is one with portion control, and caloric restriction.
      The McDougall approach is for people that need something easy to follow long term to get their health back.
      McDougall advises a modest amount of nuts and seeds for athletes and people with very active jobs.
      It depends on your circumstances.
      Nutritarian if you have the time and money and energy and your goal is superior longevity!
      If you want to feel your best on an at libitum (eat as much as you want) diet McDougall’s/PCRM’s recommendation seems best to me.
      What I learned from this video is that Fuhrman recommends athletes refeeding and rebuilding muscle after injury with a combination of pine nuts (highest caloric density whole food) and hemp seeds.

I don’t worry about a handful of walnuts in my oatmeal daily. I don’t have a disease, so this moderate amount is a drop in my daily bucket of whole food plant based eating that I do regularly. Dr.Greger got me on to that from one of his videos, and other studies released that I saw on the subject supported my decision to continue eating a little nuts.

I have an article that speaks about partial prey consumption, but it mentions nothing about the predator leaving out a certain edible part. It can be any edible part of the animal that is left, due to varying reasons. Nothing about always leaving the intestinal contents, or anything like that. If you're doing it for the animals, I have bad news for you. Guess how many animals die in soy fields to make vegan products for you to consume. They kill the mice, rats, squirrels, possums, skunks, bunny rabbits, birds, gophers, snakes, turtles, literally ALL the animals in that field when they plow them. Then they continue to kill any and all animals that would go into those fields to keep your soy beans from being contaminated or consumed by them. So hundreds to thousands of animals die all so you can feel morally superior to someone who eats a burger. One cow dies, and feeds several people with pounds of beef turned into burgers, steaks, etc.

    What Dr. Fuhrman says makes a ton of sense. 1) We need fat in the diet. This could be why those ex-vegans, who add more fat via animal products to their diets, feel better. Also, how on earth can all nuts and seeds be bad? Like other plants, they are sources of phytonutrients. You don't have to eat too much but they're healthy.

I used to eat what was considered a very healthy omnivorous diet yet I had Major deficiencies (severe anemia, b12 deficient, d3 deficient, etc.) so blaming a well-planned vegan diet for ill-health is a bit too simplistic. I will say however that many do not have the time to meal prep in order to have a healthy vegan diet. My take on it is that if the general population cut out beef and diary, ate very limited eggs and fish, and ate a diet filled mostly (>90%) with nutrient-dense plant foods (rainbow diet-carrots, sweet potatoes, dark leafy greens, legumes, sea veggies, etc.), we'd all be better off. I have been a plant-based vegan for years and I have not change my diet for at least the past 2 1/2 years. I eat a wide variety of grains, fruits, greens, Nuts and seeds, legumes etc, and I hardly ever eat processed or sugary foods. I have never had a problem with digestive issues in the past but in the past three or four months I have had symptoms that pointed to SIBO, and when I got tested it came back positive for this. I will never go back to eating animal products that is 100% but I do believe that eating a very healthy plant-based vegan diet can cause digestive issues such as SIBO, and that should be addressed, not just swept under the rug, to say that it cannot be caused by a healthy vegan diet. I think this is counterproductive because I know a lot of people are dealing with this and it is a struggle, especially when we are told that it is not possible on a healthy plant-based diet.

There are links with food poisoning, antibiotics, hormonal birth control, thyroid issues, high stress, etc. His blaming SIBO on junk food is very misinformed.

    I am not a Vegan but always willing to learn about nutrition. I very much appreciate the sober analysis of Dr Furhman. I've know a few people who try to oversimplify and just assume "Plant-based" = good. "Plant-based" has become trendy and lead to the fake meat industry. Sugar and processed grains are something my Mom cut from our diets when I was a kid. Not all plants are good for you. I do love vegetables and nuts. Over eating nuts are probably my biggest issue for my weight.

    Always amazed at Joel Fuhrman's youthfulness. He's definitely my number one vegan doc. He doesn't play the "give them what is attainable" game. He tells you straight up what is optimal and lets you decide whether you are going to take it all the way. Plus... not sure if anyone is even watching VegSource anymore, but that dude is off his rocker in the last year or so.

      Perpetually Annoyed> Bees living in the wild do not have their wings ripped off. So wild honey is vegan. Do you eat commercially grown vegetables or fruits? They are pollinated by bees that are forced by humans to pollinate specific crops even though they may not want to work in that particular place, and are carried by trucks against their will in deplorable conditions. And they get no compensation. That is enslavement, so if you eat commercially grown fruits and vegetables, you are not vegan. You reap the rewards of animal slavery.

    Ok I don't agree with his argument about the nut industry financing studies. We say we don't believe that "eggs are good for you" studies because they were financed by egg producers, but he is saying NO, there's one rule for us and another rule for them. We vegans are the good people so you must believe when we show you studies even ones supported by the nut industry, but we will not believe other studies that show some animal products are good for you because they are financed by the animal industry. Can't have it both ways, have your cake and eat or what?

    Dr Fuhrman is one of my heroes. That does not mean I accept anything he says at face value. For example, I take into account, when evaluating this interview, that he does sell supplements. I do supplement my diet with B12, and D3 in Winter, not because of what a doctor said on TH-cam, but because of studies published in the peer reviewed literature which I read. Most of what he says here is spot on, but I think his conflict of interest dilutes the message. That said, your interviews are very helpful. Thank you.

    I think there is a lot of good info here, excellent interview. Thanks for this interview. I think high-density nutrition foods should be added to the diet as a must. High starch foods are really important for athletes to maintain good weight. I fuel my base on starchy foods but hit the beans and greens, berries, allium foods hard for health.
    I don't do many nuts or like nuts because I would eat peanut butter and dark chocolate and my cholesterol went up. I still need to see the evidence that things like peanut butter and almonds can reduce cholesterol in people who have a family history of high cholesterol and heart disease. Are we missing something and is Essylten MD very wrong about nuts? I cut out dark chocolate because of the two types of saturated fat in it that raise cholesterol production. What is the real truth about nuts with people at risk for heart disease?

    • @l21n18
      @l21n18 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Natural Health Blogger Mcdougall isn’t saying to eat 10 bowls of white rice or even promoting it, the only thing he has said is that it isn’t a deal breaker in his diet. The whole point of the kempner diet was extremely low protein and sodium, I believe because it was initially used for people with severely compromised kidney function. The problem with drawing broad conclusions is that people have lived in various amounts of fat the diet throughout history and seemed to be successful. I wouldn’t dismiss people’s complaints about problems with a low fat diet, but I have also heard similar complaints about a keto diet, specifically losing periods which seems strange considering its the opposite of a low fat diet. At the end of the day I think the only way any diet will work is if someone can actually stay on it. I find Fuhrman’s approach of tons of raw vegetables with nuts and seeds as well as little starchy foods beyond legumes to not be very doable (to me) even if it is the most healthy diet.

    I've tried the vegan diet and became so weak after a couple of months where I could barely function. No junk food, just healthy beans, grains, vegetables & B12. I think we are all a bit different and it doesn't work for all people. I don't think there's been a purely vegan society in the world until recently, even the closest ape relatives eat insects, worms & small amounts of meat when they can get it. The oldest living people in the world are not vegan or even vegetarian. I know that doesn't prove anything, but it's something to think about.

    • @TheJakecakes

      The point that all individuals are different in what they require is a harsh reality in this matter. Its unfortunate but true. We are not one sized fits all. I have never participated in lamb or pork consumption for the most part. Red meat once a week, good amount of dairy. Mostly poultry and some fish. I've given up dairy and red meat because I don't need it. I do not know how I will eliminate poultry and eggs. I have to take it in increments.
