Nice to hear something good about Hobie taking care of customers. There's been some negative talk online about customer service.
One reason why I felt like it was important to give my take on my personal experience. It’s an unfortunate thing to happen, but they made things right and that sort of action is valuable to me. They’ve kept a customer here.
Red/blk PA 14 is the best combo, and the exact one I'm getting for down here in San Diego California. Excellent choice :)
Nice! Hope you enjoy it!
Looking forward to watching your build video(s)! Bring on the 2024 season 🎣
Thank you! Cheers to a new year and new season!
I admire your ability to go back into the same brand kayak, Even though it had a leak in the past one.
I have been wanting to to do the same on my titan but i'm financially not able to make that jump.
Plus I cant break this dam kayak either. LOL.
Please let us know if you experience any of the same issues or new ones in this kayak also.
Id love to get one but I need to win some tournaments first to earn it. Tight lines man.
Titan 12=Battleship
I acknowledge that nothing is ever made perfect and sometimes there are mistakes down the line. For me, it’s about how it’s handled rather than what happened. They made my issue go away and that is all I can ever ask for. I wanted to be transparent about this because I have nothing to hide and will showcase when people go above and beyond for their customers!
Hobie makes the best Kayaks and has the best customer service. I have a Sunrise Camo Hobie Outback and love it ! The Turbo fins and the 360 drive is awesome
Awesome to hear! Yeah, they took care of me very well!
Color suits you bro! Glad to see you sticking with the PA 14 360!
I agree! Hard to move on when I’ve been satisfied with the platform!
I literally laughed out loud , when you rolled the Hobie back in. Nice!
Had to add a little twist to it of course! 😂 This was a fun one to edit. Haha!
I was hoping to hear your positives and negatives on each of the ones you tested.
I kept thinking in the back of my head I didn’t want the video to be too long and rambling. I apologize for that.
I will say a lot of it came down to layout. I love the open floor space in a Pro Angler. Most of the other kayaks had the drives and surrounding area taking too much room. I always felt like I couldn’t rearrange my feet to stand up and fish in whatever direction I wanted to.
They were all platforms that I felt were stable and I could fish standing up without any issues. The Titan X was certainly stable and a beast. I wasn’t a huge fan of the rotating seat as it puts too much movement in my bad lower back. And that’s something I enjoy about the Vantage Seat in the Hobie. It’s comfortable and adjustable to fit my comfortable sitting position.
Spot lock on the autopilot was cool and as a Minn Kota user for many years, it felt easy to use. I just like having a motor but also a drive as a back up (just in case). I’ve seen too many people paddle back to the launch in those.
The ePDL was a sweet rig and cool design. But I shortly realized that using a normal bicycle type drive adds stress to my back where the mirage drive didn’t. Hope this answers some questions!
What about a vantage seat on the Titan x ? 🤔
Great Choice! I'm excited to get my PA14 360XR next week!
Got to see a few in person! The new design of the drive well looks good!
@@BrandonHua.Fishing yep! We got one in the shop so far but mine is on the next truck 😂
@@SteegeFish what color are you going with?! I’m a fan of the slight color changes
@@BrandonHua.Fishing I’ve been running green since they came out but I’m going with blue this year. I have some ideas of adding some burnt orange colors to it that I’m excited about. I really wish they mass produced the orange and black camo 360’s. That’s my real dream color
@@SteegeFish tell me about it. The grey and black on the 180 and Outback is a color I’d choose in the XR if it was available 🤤
happy New Year and good luck in the 2024 season !
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Brandon, I was just looking at the background and then I realized!!! Dude, he's his garage!! It looks like a freaking tackle shop! I love it! Much love amigo! Hope you catch em all 🤘🏽
We call it Hua’s Tackle around here 😂
Appreciate it boss! 👊🏼
Was considering the old town pdl so would be very curious to know what boxes it didn’t check, and how the hobie checks them? Just found you on my home page if you tube and looking forward to seeing your videos. Cheers!
What I took a demo on was the ePDL from Old Town. The Sportsman PDL series are good kayaks but I am a gear junkie and like to add to much that requires bigger weight capacity. 😅
The ePDL was a cool design but it’s harder for me to utilize a bicycle drive for long periods due to lower back issues. I run a Torqeedo so there was no ability to run it on there as well for a Transom Mounted Motor. I lot of feet space gets used up for the drive as well. But those are boxes that I personally need to check off and shouldn’t sway your decision by any means! Hope that helps!
@@BrandonHua.Fishing Thanks for that! Makes sense if you want the extra space for that electric motor. I use my kayak as a way to “exercise” more than when I take out my StarCraft aluminum boat so I probably won’t mind the lack of motor or space. I’m also pretty analog when it comes to kayak fishing. I got tired of spending 45 mins at the launch getting all the gear installed and uninstalled each time. I guess that means I’m a lazy fisherman! Appreciate the answer and look forward to catching up on your boats vids and seeing your new ones!
There's no way you've ever spent a few days peddling an old town and think a hobie paddles easier. Agree with you on the amount of gear you can put on it a pa, but old town peddles so much easier it's not even a competition.
WOO HOOO, CONGRATS on your 2K subs!!!!!
Thank you! Time to keep it going!
Currently trying to get into the kayak tournament hobby
Man Ol man! you blew my mind-lol! I guess the bright side is, it was under warranty. :)
Let’s just say some GOOP Marine Adhesive fixed the issue as well but a new hull is a much better alternative 😂
What the fun! You spent lot of time working on the kayak and it was warranty!
Regardless of a little defect, it’s still my favorite kayak of choice! Could be worse, it could be a new vehicle with higher quality control!
Did you mention the defect in any of your clips? I would like to learn and pay attention when buying a PA 360.
@@yakfisherman1250 it leaked in the drive well where the drive sits. Little rivet nut that is embedded into the plastic must’ve wore the plastic when installed. The leak wasn’t huge but something to address obviously. To my knowledge, it happened to kayaks built in the 2022 era. Mine was a 2023 production but obviously molded in 2022
Beast. Give us a run down and a closer.
You got it 🫡
Subbed bro. Im from Hillsboro/Beaverton area lets go!
Heck yeah, appreciate it!
If you made a video on this i apologize but what is your impression of these kayaks vs the Old Town Autopilot? I'm interested in a little more detail than you mentioning you like this more than that if you can afford the time. Thanks
Hey there! The autopilot is a great kayak still. I’ve fished out of one and it’s stable and the Minn Kota motor is super reliable. I just prefer to have a motor and a pedal drive as backup. If a mechanical problem happens, I would like to have the backup. It really comes down to what needs or wants that you have. I love speed so that’s why I run a pro angler with a Torqeedo 1103 ac. 6.4mph and I’m leaving everyone in the dust!
Nice! How did you do in the La Pine tournament this past summer? Great to chat with you in the Portland store.
Got 2nd at the tournament! There’s a tournament video on it if you want to see the ups and downs. 😂
I will check it out!
I will be real interested in seeing how this holds up.
I’m interested as well! We’ll all find out together.
Sick I have an Ike edition. Love it. Almost done with the build.
Awesome! Definitely curious what you’re throwing on it.
My fav kayak angler !
Too kind!
I was going to guess that you were going to switch to a Jackson Knarr. I had not reason for guessing that and I hadn't seen any of the other content of your trying other brands. Just a thought I had from your previous few videos.
I’ve had the chance to try out the Knarr a few times. That thing turns on a dime and is impressive. Spacious layout too which is nice. Actually not a bad guess honestly. Haha!
Do you store your Pro Angler on that sparehand stand most of the time? Thinking of getting one to help load/unload my PA12 from truck bed and keep in garage and off the ground.
I have all winter and have had no issues whatsoever! It makes it really nice to move around and definitely into the bed. It’s the perfect height for mine!
Do you have a problem
With gators in a kayak
What was your biggest pro and biggest con with the Titan X?
Biggest pro(s) forsure was the stability and rigging capabilities. For me, the con(s) was the rotating seat (too much movement for my bad lower back) and not enough floor space to stand up, facing any direction. I like the open floor layout of the PA.
Nice 😊 awesome project .
Should be fun! Thanks!
I knew it. For lakes that is a good choice. Outback for the ocean for me.
Outback is definitely the right one for the ocean!
Would like to see the boat
Is that a jet ski trailer you are using? I'm looking for something similar myself.
For a stand or to haul the kayak around? The stand in the garage is a Sparehand Systems stand. Should have a link in my description! Trailer is a modified jetski trailer
@@BrandonHua.Fishing I did mean the haul trailer. Thanks for the info brother.
@@freeagentangler5159 of course! I have a video going over the trailer if that interests you too!
The PA hull is the best as far as deck space and rod storage. Unfortunately the quality is not the best. The hulls crack fairly often and the 360 drive is unreliable.
I absolutely agree that it provides the best open deck space and rod storage functionality. Quality could be hit or miss in 2021-2022 IMO. Drive has always been good to me but I also maintain it as well to make sure longevity. I know the belt system for the 360 system can be an issue but my experience the drive has been solid.
Not a single kayak manufacturer out there hasn't had quality issues with their higher end kayaks. The old town autopilots have TONS of issues with the motors and electrical components. People like to hate on Hobie because they are the OGs.
Keep crushing it brother!! 🦾
Thanks bro! See you in a few months!
Congratulations! Glad u r staying with HOBIE! Happy New Year and best of luck for 2024! Digging your channel bro!😊
Happy new year to you too! I’m happy as well! No reason to change when I’ve been happy with it!
@@BrandonHua.Fishing Glad HOBIE took care of you. I bought a used 2019 PA14 180 and am going to see how much I like it. If I do and see that the 2024 360’s addressed the dependability issue identified in the original 360, I will pick one of those up.
@@jackstein5486 I’m glad too. 😂 I did fix the leak somewhat with some GOOP Marine Adhesive and got through my Championship without anymore water leaking through. I’ve looked at the XR’s and it seems like they addressed those issues with the slight design changes. Covid was a tough couple years for quality control and stuff happens. Unfortunate, but I understand that not everything can be perfect!
Look forward to seeing it fully rigged and sharing what new things you’ll do to it for 2024
I’m stoked as well! Should be fun to try something new!
Good luck keeping that in the water. Gonna need lots of warranty work. Should have chosen the native Titan x
I took a ride in the Titan X and it wasn't for me. I like a more wide open layout on the floor. Didn't like the distance to reach your rods on the back of your BlackPak in a 12.5 due to the battery compartment. I'm a fan of the Hobie drive system compared to the Propel drive. Simply due to the fact I can't run shallow and I have to take the time to pull the drive up if coming up to obstacles. The 360 has been great for tight cover situations. The swivel seat also isn't good for my lower back problems when pedaling. For those reasons, I couldn't do it.
Hello Bro. What do you think of the Outback ?. I use mine for Offshore fishing and it's an amazing boat
Great kayak! Especially for the offshore fishing that you do. I do like to have the extra space and 360 drive which the pro angler offers.
@BrandonHua.Fishing Hello. Agree with you for the extra space with all your stuffs you carry for your tournament. I started with bass fishing and now I do sea fishing as the island is surrounded by the sea. The bass fishing tournament in the US is crazy. Would be a dream come true to participate. All the best for 2024 hope you win at least one trophy. Will be your biggest fan from Mauritius and follow your performance closely. Tight line and Fish ON !!!!!!!!!. Agree with the reason you switched from the boat to kayak fishing 🎣 👌
When they're not broken, they're great kayaks.
Agreed!
Did you go through the dealer for your warranty?
Yes! I went through where I got it from.
Hobie for the win!!!!
Yessirrr! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Nice one dude!
Appreciate it bro!
Perfect choice!!! I have the exact same kayak and love it. 👍👌
Great minds think alike! Thanks!
Now you turn kayaks into bass boats 😂
Hell yeah! Still cheaper in the long run too!
👏 🎣
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Old town leads the way
They make great kayaks for sure! I’ve tried all their models and I haven’t found one that checks all the boxes for me personally. No complaints at all!
only name in kayaks is Old Town, period.
Good kayaks! Just doesn’t fit my needs!
Taste and needs are all subjective, narrow minded view on your part.
@geoffspakes calm down skippy, it's just an opinion 😅
Old town AP only win in trolling motor category. PA win in the rest ! Choosing hobie you got more space , more options to customize, way better seat and options to install live sonar and sonar transducer . Also PA is faster than AP specially 136 model .
@megabassg5831 lets talk reverse...its a big deal on a windy day, not very convenient on a Hobe. 🤷🏽♂️
