Thanks for doing this video, you don't know how many lives this can save. There cant be too many safety videos. On those days that seem sketchy...they're are - not worth risking your life, calm days are just around the corner.
appreciate the advice. I ordered two bilge pumps just now one for me and one for my brother we go out kayak fishing in the ocean a lot and i flipped my kayak once and he tried to help me and i accidently pulled him as well. He managed to get on his kayak and help me out but my kayak took in a lot of water and we did not have a bilge pump so i swam to the brake wall and just walked all the way back because my kayak was too heavy with water and was not stable. I told my brother to leave the kayak but he said "noway you're crazy that thing is expensive" so he tied it to his kayak and pulled my kayak to shore a very long way and from watching your video it clicked that i need those bilge pumps so thank you!
Thanks for sharing your story. Stories like this helps people think about safety. Bilge pump came in handy for me 2 times. I was pump some water out and continue fishing and it came in handy for fellow kayaker a few times where I pumped the water out and they were able to get back to the land safely.
Great tips. I sunk my kayak in alligator infested waters due to a hull hatch malfunction. I was with a buddy and we had radios with us. He helped me get the water out of my hull and we made it back to shore. We were both wore out.
My friend flipped over at ocean cove on a windy day. Kayak started to float way and no one around to help. He was also wearing waders. He will not do it again. Lucky he was alive miracle of God.
@@MagnusSentDooM he just struggled and tried to make it never gave up. He just can’t believe his alive. He has kids and wife. After his story I change my mind. I am only fishing rivers and lakes. At least I can swim to shore. Please wear a life jacket. It may save your life.
Glad he's ok. Never wear waders in moving water on a kayak. Never go out alone. Practice self recovery before going out the first time. Wesr yiur PFD, always.
Hey Moo this is Martin Mansera I’m on a new iPad. . I check the ocean ,the swell the wind and I most definitely will not go out on a rough day. Plus, always wear your PFD never go alone have a VHF radio to radio for help. If need be hopefully you don’t have to use it.. plus there’s a few more safety tips but you mentioned them. Thank you. Keep making these great videos Moo 🙌🏼🤗🤙🏼🎣
def great stuff Moo! Always good to consider the what can go wrong scenarios and way too many to list. Ie, I used to lanyard my poles then a surf reentry caused me to flip and those lanyards wrapped around me. Lucky to untangle but now I use foam around poles. Whatever your situation, always consider what can go wrong
I remember a video of another kayaker towing another kayaker who's kayak was sinking. The sinking kayak had cracks on the scupper hole walls from repeated use of a kayak dolly, was taking in water.
Well done! I kayak fish in cold whitewater rivers so we have a different set of safety concerns… actually what I do is too dangerous, everyone else should stay away (More fish for me buahahaha). Anyway good video Moo ☯️🙏
kayak fishing in the ocean can be dangerous like any ocean use whether is from a boat, or in he surf. best advise: pay attention, pay attention, pay attention. and be prepared.
you forgot to mention having plenty of bananas on board to prevent starvation, especially during full moon when appetite increases by 76% for humans but drops by 5000% for fish. #TLA
very good info especially for new kayakers!👍
Thank you Andy
Awesome, comprehensive safety video Moo Moo. Thanks for putting it together.
Thank you Len
Outstanding safety summary for all ocean kayakers. Great job, Moo.
Thank you Paul

Great safety video
Great information, Moo. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Ahh Dat
The ocean is not trying to kill you. It's just aggressively indifferent to whether you live or die - one of my favorite quotes. Forgot the source 😂

Glad to hear he wasn't harmed. Thanks for sharing.
Wow that is scary
What did he do to survive? Glad he made it

Essential info, thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I appreciate it
Really good video Moo!!!
Thank you very much. It means a lot coming from an OG like you.

Yes, I try not to use lanyard/leash at all cost. I hear so many cases where people get tangled up.
Thanks for the Heroes on the Water shout out. Texas regional coordinator aka splashdown!
HOW for the win. Too bad we don't have NorCal chapter anymore. I should've volunteered more.
Great and informative.
Thank you. I appreciate it.

Yes scupper hole crack is not uncommon. I stopped using scupper hole cart long time ago.

i get all those same benefits on my bassboat.
I'm sure you do. I know kayaking is not for everyone but for us kayakers the therapy we can from kayaking is far greater than from a boat.
love it
Keith ain't no buddy!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha. He's my kayak fishing WIFE
I know it as the 7P's - Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance
Some know it as 5 Ps. Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance but 5 Ps doesn't sound fun LOL
I don't get the no PFD crowd...
It's truly inarguable
nicee...
Thanks

😂🤣 People like TLA wouldn't take me seriously if I mention banana on the yak
This goes under high visibility but don’t expect power boats to see you.
Good tip. That's how I ride my motorcycle. I expect cars don't see me.
Paddle kayak is better for this kind of weather.
You have so much more control of the kayak with the paddle in hands.
Don’t check for cast
Kayaks are dangerous no matter how you look at it on the ocean. If you have a kayak stay to the lakes not the ocean.
