By the way the Arabs in Akko and throughout all of Israel are not Palestinian (unlike the Palestinian Arabs who live in the Palestinian territories) they are Israeli Muslim Arabs. There are 2 million Israeli Arabs that are equal citizens serving in the Israeli parliament , on the Israeli Supreme Court, as University presidents, media personalities, hospital presidents, business leaders, etc.
Your storytelling is almost always dissapointing. It's just pointless talking. There is never that moment of, wow! Its just ugh, OK. You should have crossed the border on foot to experience what's it's really like.
Props to you for taking a chance, not only visiting Ramallah but getting a ride back. It may have seemed sketch, and your description made it clear there were a lot of unknowns, complicated by a language barrier, but you've traveled enough to trust your instincts, and they didn't let you down.
If you find yourself back at the bus station before it gets demolished, I highly recommend taking a guided tour of the station. It is really fascinating and they take you to areas not open to the public.

If you go to Haifa you should def see the Bahá’í Gardens they are absolutely amazing and guided tours are free but you have to register online and find a day that is not fully booked out.
Oh, and please visit the Golan Hights, so much to see and explore there! especially Nimrod fortress which is located so perfectly and has the best views and ruins ever! There are things to see everywhere in the Golan and it is totally off the beaten path. I think you may find it interesting to visit a druze village too, like "Majdal Shams" or "Mas'ade" and enjoy some local foods as well as a different culture.
That bus station sounds like a twisted Capitalist plot gone wrong. They usually do, at the expense of society's outcasts. Thank God for lovely, free-spirited kids who laugh and smile at travellers.
Dear Gabriel, I highly recommend you to stay another two or three days in the northern region of Israel. To tour the Golan Heights region, for example the magnificent Banias park and waterfall, the Druze villages in mount Carmel Dalit El Carmel and Usafia, visit my home town Haifa especially the German colony and the Bahá'í temple and gardens which are amazing! There is a lot more to see in Israel. You are most welcome here !!
You keep getting fleeced by these Arab taxis. Every ride you paid at least 2 -3 times more than you should. The taxi from Ramallah to Jerusalem should've been 34 shekels. You could've gotten a bus or train to Akko from there. If you used the meter to go to Tel Aviv it would've been 234 shekels (12 shekels + 3.72 shekels for every min. after or 18 shekels by bus - they run til 3;30 on Fri.
Hi Gabriel, The city of Acre is well connected to Israel's rail network. You can get by train from Acre to Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and even to Ben Gurion Airport.

Great videos! That bus station is such a flop! has been practically deserted for years now, hence the shops being empty and the information desk closed. It's gonna be torn down some time soon , I heard.
The Arabs can be very friendly but the business people (taxis, shops, hotels) will try always try to rip you off. They don't care if you love palestine, they see all tourists as walking $$. You can google how much a taxi should be. Google maps will give you travel options. If the hotel owner was honest, he would've suggested getting a bus or train from Jerusalem to Akko instead of helping his friend.
Absolutely! And they will rip you off with or without a smile! 😅 but, as in anywhere else in the ME, no matter how much he quotes, you MUST bargain with him. It's almost rude not to (depending who you are--for you it doesn't matter, they will just gladl take your money!). Start with 50% of what he said, TOPS, and go in small increments from there. Rule in the ME is- as long as both parties walk away unhappy, the price was right! 😅 But, as you likely saw when wanting to go to/thru Kalandia Refugee Camp, there is always "a friend" happy to take his share too! Israel is one of the few, if not only, places in Israel where the shortest distance between 2 points is NOT a straight line! They invented Waze and even have something you can tick off saying "avoid Arab Villages" (because despite public opinion, the "Apartheid" is again the Jews! Not the Arab!).
You should have just taken the same bus you took to get to Ramallah back to Damascus gate in Jerusalem. Short tram ride to Jerusalem train station and from there a train straight to Akko. You might need to transfer once or twice within a train station depending on the time of day. Your driver was probably an Arab Israeli. They make up about 22% of the country's population.

From Ramallah to Akko the best, fastest and cheapest connection would have probably been a taxi to the Jerusalem train station and from there a train to Tel Aviv (trains every half an hour, travel time about half an hour). In Tel Aviv switch to a train to Akko (same station as the train from Jerusalem, 2-3 trains per hour, travel time about 1.5 hours). Israel Railways’ online timetable shows 2h20min total travel time from Jerusalem to Akko including the transfer. Total cost for the train trip is NIS48 (about $13).

The driver from Ramallah dropped you off just next to the Hagana train station, which is next to to horrible central bus station. You could have just taken a nice and cozy train directly to Acer and avoid all the ordeal🙃 but if you did that, you wouldn't have the chance to "experience" our crazy and impossible bus station, so all for the best I guess...
While in the Greater Akko-Haifa area, I suggest visiting one of the local Druze villages: Daliyat al-Karmel or Isfiya. BTW, Haifa has partial public transportation running on Saturdays.

It is where the shrine of Baha’u’lláh (the messenger of the Baha’i faith) is located along with the Baha’i gardens. Baha’i’s believe in the oneness of humanity, all religions praying together as one, and elimination of prejudice, to name a few!

Yeah, last September 2022 did a tour to the Dead Sea and Masada, yes it was very hot but still interesting. The Romans seem to be a very ambitious culture back in the day, example would be how they got to the top of Masada.
The restaurants are always expensive. But you can get good street food like falafels for 25 shekels ($7) shekels. Cofix which is a kind of convenience/food chain with a lot of sandwiches & simple dishes for 6-8 shekels.
Go somewhere with cooler weather. Why suffer in the heat if you can escape it? Stuck here in Houston where it’s miserably hot and would give anything to get out of here. 🥵

The "new" central bus station in Tel Aviv should be avoided if possible and the whole area around it too. It's a rundown and rough area. There's a much nicer station - Arlozorov Terminal that's located more to the north and is in a better area of Tel Aviv. Although you need to check because some buses only leave from the crazy bus station you were in and not from Arlozorov. But Arlozorov terminal is located right next to Savidor train station. So it's convenient if you want to take a train. For example you could have taken a train to Akko instead of a bus. It's more convenient and probably faster.

Gabe, there's a train station in Acre (Akko) that will take you to Tel-Aviv. The Israeli train service is fantastic, by the way. It's cheap, efficient, well-organized, has a/c, and is frequent. Totally worth it. The only minus is that it does not operate between Friday evening and Saturday evening.
Acco is a city of both Jews and Arab Muslims. You can see that many signs are in Arabic, even though it is an Israeli city. The Old Town is mostly Arabic, as you can tell from the people there.

In the 80's there were some Palestinians who exploded with a belt of bombs around their stomachs. At the moment I don't know if things are peaceful now. In that region everything looks weird. One thing is for sure traveling around we will always meet weird guys, and I will always feel butterflies in my stomach. Unfortunately.
Israeli-Jews usually do not know Arabic. Arab-Israelis know Hebrew, and some Palestinians also know Hebrew. The strange and dubious central station has many interesting things, for example there is a floor with lots of street paintings. As a traveler you should check before. There is a train from Jerusalem to Acre. TEL AVIV central bus station is a disaster and pan t be destroyed
If you're still in the area I'd recommend going to Safed and Tiberius in the Galilee

Check out Wadi Mujib Canyon Trail in Jordan if you get the chance. You basically hike up a river through a canyon. There is many water falls too.

There's a much nicer station - Arlozorov Terminal that's located more to the north and is in a better area of Tel Aviv. Although you need to check because some buses only leave from the crazy bus station you were in and not from Arlozorov. But Arlozorov terminal is located right next to Savidor train station. So it's convenient if you want to take a train. For example you could have taken a train to Akko instead of a bus. It's more convenient and probably faster.

Gabe, there's a train station in Acre (Akko) that will take you to Tel-Aviv. The Israeli train service is fantastic, by the way. It's cheap, efficient, well-organized, has a/c, and is frequent. Totally worth it. The only minus is that it does not operate between Friday evening and Saturday evening.

Acco is a city of both Jews and Arab Muslims. You can see that many signs are in Arabic, even though it is an Israeli city. The Old Town is mostly Arabic, as you can tell from the people there.

In the 80's there were some Palestinians who exploded with a belt of bombs around their stomachs. At the moment I don't know if things are peaceful now. In that region everything looks weird. One thing is for sure traveling around we will always meet weird guys, and I will always feel butterflies in my stomach. Unfortunately.
