I wanted a 2013 zl1 and ended up buying a supercharged 2010 ls3 Camaro with 15k miles . I upgraded the rear end to a zl1 one and a few other mods and I’m pretty happy with my Camaro
In January I upgraded from an 04 gto to a 2014 zl1. After everything I’ve been through building that goat, even manual swapping it, I thought I’d miss her. Not even a little bit. This car, manual of course, is amazing on so many levels the gto platform will never reach. And though my goat looked amazing, this car looks even better.
I too had an imperial blue metallic 04 GTO, when I couldn’t catch a dam Bonneville on the highway, and the whole grand am look, it had to go . 2014 SS 1LE , heads, cam kit , 1 piece aluminum driveshaft, Melling oil pump, catch can, baffled oil pan. Covered all the possible fail points and keeping it N/A . Less crap = less problems. Oh yeah headers and SLP loud mouth 2 exhaust, custom fully welded / V banded stainless 3 inch . BMR subframe connector. 10 mm rear spacers. It’s well planted .Everyone does flow master, magnaflow Borla. You should ck out the loud mouth 2s , nice rumble , only real loud when you’re in it. Still best have the stereo up if you want to hear it on the highway, only option on my car is the Bose stereo. 75’000 miles and still the most dependable car I’ve owned, drove it off the dealer lot new in 14 it’s never went back, they don’t have Amsoil , So no I even skipped the first free oil changes.
@@johnmarshjr928 I had a buddy with an ibm 04 gto, our race is on my channel. I dig raced him while I was still automatic and roll raced him after the manual swap. Both had intake and exhaust. My car has a borla cat back on it already. I bought arh 1 7/8” headers already. I loved my slp exhaust on my goat but this is already here and sounds alright.
Love the video! One thing for the next video though, the LSA is not just a supercharged LS3, it also has a stronger bottom end and some more stuff inside the engine.
awesome video my man ! the Camaro has been a dream car of mine ever since i was little when i saw transformers lol. hopefully someday i can buy a zl1.. so unfortunate that they are no longer making them.
Another thing is the updated suspension package from the 2010-2011 MY to the 2012-2013 MY. Going from internal code FE3 to FE4, the newer models got a larger rear sway bar with the new wider setup and LCAs developed for the 1LE and ZL1, along with some stiffened bushings. Also some late 2013 cars got electric steering that was standard in 2014+. IMO that solved most of the grievances from the sluggish handling of early 5th gen’s except the electric steering doesn’t do as well of a job at giving a good feel of the road. I’ve always preferred hydraulic racks.
motors are similar but not the same. Since the LSA has to endure more strenuous forces due to the supercharger, it features stronger internal components than the LS3. To make the boost a bit safer, the LSA received lower compression pistons compared to the LS3, bringing compression on the LSA to 9.1:1, compared to the LS3's 10.7:1 ratio. The LSA also received a stronger forged steel crankshaft compared to the LS3's cast iron crank. To really hammer strength and keep internal temperatures low, the LSA used nodular iron main caps and featured piston oil squirters, much like the LS9. also connecting rods are forged and heads have bigger intakes so not the same heads. lsa can handle more hp than a ls3 thats in the ss
@@jthomp366 i swear everytime i search for something about this gen5 zl1 vs ss difference i find or can't find different info. i read somewhere that they were made by manly and the I beam style, just now i seen that's an aftermarket rod. but they are more beefy haven't seen anything about being coated tho. either way they're stronger than the SS and built to handle more power.
I have a 2015 ss in that exact red and interior. I stole it from a 1LE and zl1 lol. Fun fact there’s a shift light indicator in the hud page with the g force
Watching this after trading in my ZL1 for a Camry on Friday. I loved that car, had headers and coilovers on it. But it was time to let it go. Had over 100k miles on it, went through 3 bumpers (none of my fault) and its held on by zipties and bubblegum. I was surprised i was offered what i was so i had to get rid of it. But I’ll get another later on. Despite the paint peeling, despite it having no AC, it had character and people always complimented it despite its issues. Now im just an NPC. Oh well. Rip maro-lyn. Ill miss you dearly
That dash is one of the reasons I'm eyeing the 6th gen. I just cannot fathom waking up everyday and getting inside of that that. No diss tho, bc I'm coming from a 4th gen z28
Why'd you go 5th gen Zl1 over a 6th gen SS? Both seem to be pretty close in performance since the 6th gen is lighter. That LSA is beautiful looking however.
Maybe compare say a 2014 1Le to the same yr Zl1. One difference about 15000 more for the Z and in 14 if you couldn’t afford it. Maybe compare a forged internal LSA equipped SS vs the Z. I went 1SS 1LE white , only 600 made in white, 1 SS, no frills, no leather, no heads up display, no extra gauges, sun roof. Go look for one for sale in that configuration, it’s getting rarer and gaining value every day. Let’s face it the 5 gen looks better than the 6 th unless you’re really into Star Wars.
The thing I don't like about the interior of the Camaro is the gauge placements down by the gear shifter and the e-brake on the passenger side. I drive a '08 350z 6spd so I'm use to seeing my gauge located on the dash and e-brake more towards me. I'm at a point right now that I've been looking a 5th gen Camaro ('14-'15) and 6th gen Mustang ('15'-'17).

Around Christmas time last year I stumbled across your channel… coincidentally I was also in the market to by a new car. The videos of you ripping your Camaro thru Florida the song of the longtubes and you banging gears sold it for me. I got a 2015 SS manual and I swear every day I drive it I still love it as if I got it yesterday. Congrats on the new ZL1 man gonna miss the blue on the SS but aside from that the upgrade is insane! More life brother🎉🕺 Going to be in Florida in a few months be sick af to see you out and mob around👨🦼➡️
Hey guys, check out the description for the links to the Modifications and Replacement Parts for my 5th Gen Camaro SS!
Mans so dedicated to the Camaro he decided to get another one! Congrats bro!
lmfao had to buy two incase I have to sell one #intellectuallystarvedfinance
I bought an 2018 zl1 and a 2018 V6 hotwheels edition 😂
Im glad you stuck with ZL1 because you would have a whole different type of audience with a C7 and its a different feel all together.
Excellent video explaining the difference for people who think a ZL1 is just a SS with a blower. It's a whole different beast.
Congrats on the ZL1, beautiful car! Hopefully I can join the club someday soon.
Yellow ZL1 passing 5:57. Beatiful cars!!

The front bumper of the zl1 also has brake ducts to help cool the big rotors, noticed them when i swapped my rotors and pads a few weeks ago

Thanks Jake, yeah I glossed over it to keep the video short but excellent point and thanks for that.
Mega Upgrade bro. Happy for you champ.
Thank you man. ❤️
Welcome to the club. I thought that was my car at first in the thumbnail 😂.
Also, the LSA has a forged crank.
Nice new ride bro! If you wanna review a manual c7 zr1 let me know. I live very close to the area you usually film in lol.
Hey Javier, I'd be super down! Do you have instagram or socials? We can communicate there and set something up!!

I’m in love with that blue. The red looks amazing as well.
Thanks man! I'm going to miss the blue!!

Connecting rods are forged coated not forged. They are actually the weakest point in the rotating assembly

Really because of the blower and the 5th Gen platform tbh. They are great cars tho the 6th
You just need a Z28 and you got the 3wisemen

18700 but I'm open to offers.
