Tekkara You're right. And the solution is realy easy:Just don't give them feelings. That's it.If they don't think and feel that they are slaves they won't rebel. It's just this easy
i think its just because the ai is able to calculate balance so quickly that it just ends up letting the arms do the balancing whenever it needs to instead of learning to keep them steadier which would result in a 'safer' walking method
It is prob designed so that it learns based on fastest time, and length traveled. If something works better, it starts using that as it's base. Then over trail and error, it gets the most effecent way. With that said, it will prob learn to more walk like us, the longer the simulation runs. We have had a hell of a lot longer to evolve the way we did. It will learn.
NowhereMan no, the arms are being used for balance and control, like a cat's tail while running. We don't need to do that because we are well balanced and have evolved running and using our arms in a much more efficient way. The computer doesn't have to worry about the model breaking or any bone structure or anything, so it looks like it has just created its own version of balancing the model while running.
i think the only reason the computer made the simulation flail its arms in such a funny way is to keep balance because it had not yet learned to stabilize itself otherwise (spinal cord)
Tommy Khoury yeah. our body is filled with muscles. we use them all the time to stay upright even when just standing still. the models probably didn't have that.
It looks to me like it wasn't incentivised to minimise energy consumed or to be ready to change to doing something different. If all we cared about was getting to point B and could flail our limbs around effortlessly perhaps this is not far off how we would run...

The part where it drags the one foot is an interesting choice. I would think that a factor the AI doesn't get here is sensation of the body. No one would choose to walk that way as a human because they would injure their foot. So if the AI had sensors for pain it might makes a different choice.
