My whole life, I've been lied to... I truly thought that he didn't want part of the sequel because of the money cover up as well. I am so sorry Crispin. Ah yes, corrupt Hollywood, just like it's always been...
The reason why he wasn't in BTTF2 was the fact he wanted way more money than the studio was willing to pay him (he wasn't the star) so that much is true. Where the legality issue comes in is how they used his likeness after the fact.

Even if he did ask for more money we also need to know what he was paid in the first place. He was so integral to what made that first movie so good. Had he been in the sequels that would've been a game changer compared to what we got with part 2 and 3.
He trains at the same gym as I do ! Gold's Gym in Downtown L.A. The first time I saw him there I wanted to walk up to him and say.... " Hey McFly , I thought I told you to never come in here again ! " ( Biff ) .
He had a bit of Andy Kaufman in him. He would make you think he was weird and strange but in reality he's pretty normal. Definitely a bit eccentric though.
Crispin's performance in the first movie got the biggest laughs. Can't believe they didn't do everything they could to bring him back for the other ones
It's primarily a radio show. I don't think you necessarily have to live up to certain professional standards when the video is a secondary broadcast on TH-cam.
Back to the future isn't exactly my kind of movie but it's worth watching it to see Glover's performance as young Mr McFly. An acting masterclass. Respect.
Yes he is. During the making of it there was widespread concern about his affectations and delivery but in the end his performance is memorable. I love that VW he drives during it.
The dude has a point that I did not know of before. Like he says, had it been a "Lookalike" it would not be as bad. But if you hire a VW and dress it up like a Porsche and try to pass it off as one, then yes, your ass should be called out on that and pay the consequences.
this is one of the most unprofessional, annoying interviews i've ever seen. the host is loud, he keeps interrupting Crispin, his mic is WAY too loud and much louder than Crispins, the guys walking around in the background is distracting and pointless.
100% agree. I can’t stand it when hosts have guests on and then consistently interrupt and chime in with a “yeah....” and “hmmm-mm...” every few seconds. Let the guest speak. The different mic volume mix is very noticeable, too. Disrespectful and annoying.
Don’t really get the anger behind the three guys walking in. This was clearly meant to be part of a radio podcast, therefore, we would’ve never known they were present. They were silent as they should be, they just walked into a podcast happening, but weren’t disruptive. I dunno. It didn’t bother me. o_O
Crispin, I wished you would have made it into the second movie regardless of what they were unwilling to pay you. You were an asset to the film and I think it's sad about what happened to you.
The guys who made the "Back to the Future" movies made too big a deal out of this, too-- like Mister Glover said here, they got another actress to play Jennifer and nobody made a big deal about it-- I'm sure they could have found somebody new to play George and nobody would have had cared.
They did hire another actor. And this is my question about this. If I was the makeup artist who is essentially making a mask, don't I have rights to that art and simply put it atop another face with similar structure?
+questworldmatrix No. The make-up artist is hired to do a job. They don't own the rights to your face. Even William Shatner got a check for the Myers mask used in Halloween.
+ttarkA113 Not to hijack the comments here, but yes. The mask used was originally a James T. Kirk/Star Trek mask. They died it white, cut open the eye holes and teased the hair. Do a Google image search for Myers/Shatner mask. Enjoy!
+ttarkA113 Yeah, they took a James Kirk mask and pained it white. They did it because it was the cheapest mask they could find. I thought this was common knowledge.
I didn't know that until now either. That is absolutely terrible to use someone's face and slap it on another actor. That is very sneaky and disgusting.
+Lisa Loynd I think Crispin's mold that was used on the actor was when George was upside down on a device to help straighten his back out from throwing it out at the golf course. The purpose of the mold was to make the actor look older. Have the actor be upside so not many shots of his face. Any shots from the original BTTF with Crispin in it they repurposed for BTTF2. They just used the mold to make the new actor look more like an older version of the George McFly the character. If that is against the rules to use Crispin's likeness then so be it. I thought I read Crispin won his lawsuit with an undisclosed amount. He really shouldn't still be bitching about this anymore. But what do I know?
+Chad Lampton I don't know, man. If someone famous was lying about you and claiming you were a greedy jackass demanding money, and this person continued to spout this lie in numerous interviews and DVD commentary tracks, wouldn't you be just a little bit miffed?
Probably, but there's no evidence Zemeckis & Gale were lying. I spoke to Michael Klastorin, who wrote the 2015 "visual history" book on the series; he said he had access to legal documents involving Crispin for his research. According to the book, Crispin was offered double salary of the last film he'd made, and given an option to play Seamus McFly in the third film. Zemeckis & Gale said their budget was already maxed out, and Crispin responded by replacing his agents to try and get a bigger deal. For a man who says the ending to the first film was about greed, it seemed he got that way himself during negotiations for the sequels. After Crispin refused for good, Jeffrey Weissman was hired, and Michael J. Fox agreed to play Seamus.
Halfway through the interview I realize I have been so focused on the guys in the back that I missed the interview, paused it to type this, and clicked away never to return. WTF?
I’m glad he had his say on this matter because things were said about him by the creators of Back to Future without Crispin being present which gives him know opportunity to respond to their claims and have his say.
If he didn’t, he should have filed a defamation suit against Bob Gale. Apparently, he was offered less than half the amount any of the other returning actors were receiving.
Enjoyed the interview even though I’m not particularly a Glover fan. The guys in the background were VERY unprofessional. Even the camera person is distracted and continues to focus on them at times. A little more professionalism would have made this interview so much more.
Man I hope he’s ok, he literally had to deal with this for three decades And those guys are just buttheads for doing that, stealing a guys face and putting it on to another is just downright wrong and messed up, even with legal rights And he does make a valid point about Jennifer, they didn’t put make up on Elizabeth Shue to look like claudia wells when she was hired

So be careful which side you're fooled by, Glover by being an actor can very well fool audiences, too. Again, I'm not saying, that he did.
actually bob gale didnt say that he asked for michael j. fox money. what he said was that crispin asked for an amount of money that was far more than he was worth as an actor at that time.
Crispen is right only he can do that scene in front of the car where he points his finger and says "Hey you keep your hands off her!" . Only he could play the part of being shy and standing his ground at the same time, He definitely should have been treated better than he was for the sequel. That s terrible to be treated like that, a stand in to replace him!
I heard somewhere else that he was offered only half of what the rest of the supporting cast (e.g. Biff, Lorraine) was offered, despite having equal screentime to them in the original.
When it's all said and done, the movies all came out great and the franchise as a whole was a success. It's really a bummer to hear that Crispin was left out of the sequels due to personal politics. I mean, have you fucking seen Back To The Future! It's undeniably one of the best movies ever made. If I could say something personal to Crispin, It would sound like " Your work in that movie was fantastic. Very few actors grab a role and make it theirs the way you did. As a fan of the franchise since the beginning, I can assure you one thing. To see that the people who played characters from the original that remained in the series had changed was disappointing. It may seem like a very small detail to studio executives or whoever, but fans don't like that shit and it may have dramatically impacted not only the movie franchises length or longevity but also it's final gross earnings. Lastly, everyone knows the first one was the best one.
In all honesty, the recasting of Claudia Wells with Elisabeth Shue bothered me more than Crispin's...mainly because there's virtually no resemblance between them. The main reason Claudia didn't do the sequels is because her Mom became deathly ill, and she rightfully chose family over fortune.
I've heard him discuss this before. What I'd rather hear is an in-depth discussion with Eric Stolz about the whole situation with being cast and then being fired. I don't think he's done that.
Being an Actor myself, I think its possible that his manager or agent demanded more money. When the producers refused and kicked this actor off the sequel, he rose his hands and said I never asked for any extra money. Most of the time, the managers and agents are somewhere in alot of the mix ups with actors and music artists.
Crispin is a very under rated actor. To this day I have yet to see someone that has his range in the different types of characters and personalities he can do. The awkward George McFly is just a small morsel of what he can do. He can go for lovable George McFly to the cold serial killer Layne in River's Edge.
I've noticed that the only people who have negative things to say about Crispin seem like real dullards. He's far smarter than his detractors and they just don't get him. Smarter, more creative people do.
***** there's no way they wouldn't ask him and if he would have done an interview and it was cut he would have mentioned it as further proof that they have something to hide
brickman409 they have no control, that would be Universal, Bob Gale has no control over what goes on there, just as Robert Zemeckis has no control over Universal remaking BTTF
Eric Curto When I said they, I was referring to Universal. Who do you think a big time movie studio is going to side with, a producer or an actor? I don't think they would want to release interviews of an actor giving one of their producers a bad name.
It’s been a long time since I saw the DVD interviews he’s referring to, but I seem to remember someone (I thought it was Robert Zemeckis, but it might’ve been Bob Gale) saying that Crispin just didn’t want to come back. Which is why they created the alternate 1985 where George was dead.
I'd have asked him if he thinks that George McFly actually realized that his "friend" Calvin Kline was actually his son and why wasn't that revelation addressed ever in the sequels??Before you tell me,yes I know about the scrapped/deleted scene,I know.

idk why, but i've never seen Back to the Future (1985) until two weeks ago. and hoooly shit, this actor (Crispin Glover) was absolutely fantastic in this movie. one of the best acting performances i've ever seen.
marcelo his performance in Willard was outstanding.
Bob I saw river's edge and didn't know at the time that Lane was the same actor as George Mcfly. He also played Andy Warhol in a movie about the doors.
He's also in Hot Tub Time Machine, and I think he was in American God's as well.
Friday The 13th part iv/Rivers Edge/People Vs Larry Flynt, are also good examples of Crispins work
man has not aged a day
I hear his kid has access to some machine.
He looks like Mads Mickelsen here, could play his brother
or Mario Gomez as a german footballer, could make an interesting story here.
I always thought Crispin would have been a great psycho Riddler in a Batman movie
foch41 yes
christ, that host is annoying. Crispin is saying really interesting things and he wants to interrupt him.
Omgdannie2 Radio hosts. You know the deal when you go there. They LOVE to talk, and they love the sound of their own voice.
+Omgdannie2 I can't decide what's more annoying... His personality or his hair.
+Jarod Smith His hair IS his personality.
joostisabelle true
Most hosts are like that, it literally happens in every interview!
Wow I didn't even know that wasn't him in part 2
+henry wade I never knew that either.
Weird me either. Great makeup job.
Which character was he?
He wasn't in part 2 tho........was he??
+riddley39 no he wasn't in any of the sequels
My whole life, I've been lied to... I truly thought that he didn't want part of the sequel because of the money cover up as well. I am so sorry Crispin. Ah yes, corrupt Hollywood, just like it's always been...
The reason why he wasn't in BTTF2 was the fact he wanted way more money than the studio was willing to pay him (he wasn't the star) so that much is true. Where the legality issue comes in is how they used his likeness after the fact.
@@stevencramsie9172 Were the salary increase demands ever made public? I'm still curious....
You can never be sure about these things.
Actually to me Crispin Glover shows signs of narcissistic personality disorder. I'm not saying he has it. Just that he shows some signs and that I see similarities. The way he blames people, the way he paints Bob Gale as the worst he can think of (a thief), and the way he cannot let go of this until Bob Gale apologizes. He had made 750.000$ through the lawsuit, and it's said he demanded 8x as much pay as the studio and his own manager thought was reasonable (it was also very early in his career). I've seen these things all before, some in my personal life.
People with NPD are exceptionally good liars, and can have good acting skills, too, although usually these are a bit eccentric (which they were in back to the future). So, guys, be careful which side you're fooled by, Glover by being an actor can very well fool audiences, too.
Again, I'm not saying, that he did.
@@nightmareTomekYou are covering up with the, "I'm not saying that he did" while bashing him for what he's doing. You wouldn't be pissed that they ruin a character that you put your heart into (Essentially the case of Henry Cavill in The Witcher), then get shut down, be expected to return after being shut down, use a mask to cover up the fact that they replace you, and then make a story that you left because you wanted more money. Even if he did ask for more money we also need to know what he was paid in the first place. We need to know a lot of factors to make judgement yet you saying he might even have a disorder is disgusting
@@jackfax I think you don't use many of your braincells. You can't even write down a coherent train of though. You on drugs?
What I wrote isn't disgusting, it's a warning to be careful with certain things, and not take stories of total victimhood at face value. Usually they are anything but. You wanna ignore the warning, then do it, it's your life, fall in love with Glover, nobody cares.
Unfortunately I have been right about these topics in the past more often than you can count. Only if you are encouraging others to be as blind as you and it potentially makes them end up with harmful people, then your behavior is actually the disgusting one.
I like the comments about those 3 dudes in the back
He was so integral to what made that first movie so good. Had he been in the sequels that would've been a game changer compared to what we got with part 2 and 3.
Such an underrated actor. It's a shame he didn't get the recognition he deserves.
Who are those dorks in the background drinking water and hardly paying attention? This is Crispin F'n Glover guys! :P
Fuckin Millennials...
Those guys in the background are Biff's croonies.
It's an audio studio. If they are silent they think they are invisible.
"What Lorraine?... What??"
"Give me a milk....Chocolate."
This guy is the BEST!!!!
He trains at the same gym as I do ! Gold's Gym in Downtown L.A.
The first time I saw him there I wanted to walk up to him and say.... " Hey McFly , I thought I told you to never come in here again ! " ( Biff ) .
That's known as the gay Gold's Gym.
Glover isn't gay though
Rude Pig Ha fantastic what did he say looks a cool 😎 man good hair looks like a mod back in the 🇬🇧 UK
Glad you didn't say that. A lot of actors hate when fans do stuff like that.
Rude Pig that would have been awesome!!
I've always thought he was weird, but I can't disagree with anything he said.
He seemed pretty normal and not weird in this interview. Pretty calm to be honest
+SpeedDemon1152 this is the most normal I've ever seen him
TheGoldcountry
its just Bob Gail just happens to be his supervisor and he's just no good with confrontations!
Whats with the random guys in the background...pretty unprofessional setup. Ones even texting...
...and drinking soda
It's primarily a radio show. I don't think you necessarily have to live up to certain professional standards when the video is a secondary broadcast on TH-cam.
It's a radio show not a court room...
"one's even texting" are you fucking gay?
@@gillybuzz no, u
Back to the future isn't exactly my kind of movie but it's worth watching it to see Glover's performance as young Mr McFly. An acting masterclass. Respect.
Not your thing??? What movies are your thing? I thought this was a universally great movie! Lol
Crispin's character in BTTF was amazing and fitted the film perfectly.
😎🎸🏆🥇👍👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
he was great in River's Edge
Aww man that movie is FUCKING awesome true classic
true..loved him in willard
Yes he is. During the making of it there was widespread concern about his affectations and delivery but in the end his performance is memorable. I love that VW he drives during it.
The soundtrack to river's edge is cool too.. all Metal blade records bands
Checks in the mail. God damnt feck its me lmao
The dude has a point that I did not know of before. Like he says, had it been a "Lookalike" it would not be as bad. But if you hire a VW and dress it up like a Porsche and try to pass it off as one, then yes, your ass should be called out on that and pay the consequences.
gutz1981 or if the actor with his likeness does a terrible job, he might be associated with that performance
this is one of the most unprofessional, annoying interviews i've ever seen. the host is loud, he keeps interrupting Crispin, his mic is WAY too loud and much louder than Crispins, the guys walking around in the background is distracting and pointless.
I'd like to know how that guy got to get a gig on Sirius. He's nothing special
@@donnalynn2 Probably related to someone who is a big contributor or rich.
And the camera man sucks too! So shakey and not centered
I dunno. It didn’t bother me. o_O
Walking in wasn't so bad, but when they started making out I thought it was really distasteful.
Beta Sword - people just like to moan 😏
Crispin, I wished you would have made it into the second movie regardless of what they were unwilling to pay you. You were an asset to the film and I think it's sad about what happened to you.
Yes! He was phenomenal.
Enjoy!
+ttarkA113
Yeah, they took a James Kirk mask and pained it white. They did it because it was the cheapest mask they could find.
I thought this was common knowledge.
*****
What??? Are you serious???
You have NEVER seen the original Halloween?
Wow, just wow. Go watch the film.
I'm so used to him playing strange characters, he seems pretty normal in real life
he's so down to earth and he seems so nice i feel bad for him
I'm grateful for this. I believed the Bluray, I now believe Crispin more.
If someone took my face and put it on someone else and pretending to be me in a movie...then I'd take them to court to. Tons of Respect for this dude
I had no idea that he wasnt in Back to the future2 wooow
Me too...now it gives me a different outlook on the second one. That's crazy that used the molds of his face...
+Chad Lampton
I don't know, man.
Loved his laugh in the movie....”Oh oh oh oh no ha ha ha ha!”
Halfway through the interview I realize I have been so focused on the guys in the back that I missed the interview, paused it to type this, and clicked away never to return. WTF?
the one drinking really annoyed me
@Pun Jab I Or..........Ding, Dang, & Dong could just be respectful of an ongoing interview & STAY OUT BUTTHEADS!!!!!!!!!!
I missed Crispin in all the sequels. It's so sad that he couldn't participate in them.
I’m glad he had his say on this matter because things were said about him by the creators of Back to Future without Crispin being present which gives him know opportunity to respond to their claims and have his say.
Hello............mcfly anybody home.
Jorge Perez can you imagine if I turned in my homework in your handwriting? I'd get kick out of school. You wouldn't want that to happen would you?
Jorge Perez look your shoes are untied..pfft you're so gullible
that's funny biff..
" Hello, hello is anybody home? Think mcfly, think".
You Irish bug!
' Lou, Gimme a milk...chocolate'
If he didn’t, he should have filed a defamation suit against Bob Gale. Apparently, he was offered less than half the amount any of the other returning actors were receiving.
Crispin Glover , Back to the Future won't be the same without You. Hello Mc Fly!
After hearing this i have new found respect for Robert Zumekis, he didn't let them past, prevent him from hiring Crispin again.
Hey keep the door closed during interviews if your out when it starts stay out
People walking in and out while an interview is going on is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!... Def not pros
It would be nice if people would not just walk in and out of the room while you are interviewing someone.
Enjoyed the interview even though I’m not particularly a Glover fan. The guys in the background were VERY unprofessional. Even the camera person is distracted and continues to focus on them at times. A little more professionalism would have made this interview so much more.
Man hasn't aged a day since 1985. They could reshoot Back to the Future 2 and 3 with him today and you wouldn't be able to notice the difference.
Man I hope he’s ok, he literally had to deal with this for three decades
And those guys are just buttheads for doing that, stealing a guys face and putting it on to another is just downright wrong and messed up, even with legal rights
And he does make a valid point about Jennifer, they didn’t put make up on Elizabeth Shue to look like claudia wells when she was hired
You can never be sure about these things.
Actually to me Crispin Glover shows signs of narcissistic personality disorder. I'm not saying he has it. Just that he shows some signs and that I see similarities. "Hey, you! Get your damn hands of her!"
actually bob gale didnt say that he asked for michael j. fox money. what he said was that crispin asked for an amount of money that was far more than he was worth as an actor at that time.
They did lowball him tho. They offered him 1/4 of what Lea Thompson was getting for a similar role.
Crisping is such a weird guy but a very good actor. A great George McFly.
Well damn, I didn't know all of this. I just bought into the lies that where spun about this. Thanks for doing this interview. It opened my eyes!
A pretty interesting guy.
It would have been hilarious if Biff's actor walked in and said "Hey McFly!"
Th guys just wondering in in the background... was very unprofessional
The main reason Claudia didn't do the sequels is because her Mom became deathly ill, and she rightfully chose family over fortune.
i can tell he's telling the truth from his voice alone
"Who Wants To Play With WILLY"😂-Him as WillyWonka on EpicMovie
Legend has it that he's back from the past, just to know what to do whenever his face gets into a mold
Love Crispin! So smart, such a good actor. A creative force
OMFG, IN OR OUT GUYS! During an interview, there should NOBODY coming and going from 'the booth'.
That guy looking at his phone...
They were real pricks to Crispen. Great actor and complex guy.
Naw! He was a little Bitch about it!
@@MrParkerman6 No Crispin was in the right! they used an image of him without their permission which Crispin has the very right to be upset about.
I've heard him discuss this before. What I'd rather hear is an in-depth discussion with Eric Stolz about the whole situation with being cast and then being fired. I don't think he's done that.
and you wont
I hope he got a big Payday because that was totally wrong.
I like how he says he wants to straighten things out but yet ANOTHER Blu-Ray has been released and NO interview with him
***** there's no way they wouldn't ask him and if he would have done an interview and it was cut he would have mentioned it as further proof that they have something to hide
+Eric Curto
Well, he's accusing the producer of being a liar, so that's one big reason why they wouldn't put an interview with him in the new blu-ray.
brickman409 they have no control, that would be Universal, Bob Gale has no control over what goes on there, just as Robert Zemeckis has no control over Universal remaking BTTF
Eric Curto
When I said they, I was referring to Universal. Who do you think a big time movie studio is going to side with, a producer or an actor? I don't think they would want to release interviews of an actor giving one of their producers a bad name.
brickman409 you'd be surprised what a studio would let on a set
Big props to Glover for keeping his cool while notsams' crew performed without etiquette
Why are there 3 guys in the background looking completely disinterested? Ruined the interview for me.
Matt M They could be Biffs flunkys in the year 2019 waiting to kick his butt for coming into the studio? 😄🤔
Because the three guys are disrespectful buffoons!!!!!!!!!!
I'd have asked him if he thinks that George McFly actually realized that his "friend" Calvin Kline was actually his son and why wasn't that revelation addressed ever in the sequels??Before you tell me,yes I know about the scrapped/deleted scene,I know.
I thought this guy got killed by Jason Voorhees. "Ted where the hell is corkscrew!!!"
Jon Snow well done.
Actually eight
Crispin Glover is the case-in-point of “You either die a villain or live long enough to become the hero.”
underrated is an underrated word when talking Crispin Glover. bttf, willard, that movie he did with Tatum O Neal (forgot the name of the film) and of course, A River's Edge, are all must sees
Crispin is 53 (2017) and he looks 30. Raw vegan is working for him for sure.
@Jerry L. Vegans do have better skin on average, it's all the water in the veggies and fruit that make them their skin look better.
Great actor. His work as Mr. World is epic.
Crispin is very well spoken
It was just so sad, I was really looking forward to seeing Crispin Glover in all 3 films! But the future is what it is! Your still a great actor, no matter what the Out come was on a personal scale.
I really like how he explains that it is normal to have a mold of an actors face for some people that work in film making.
