    Back To The Future is one of the most talked about movies in film history, but most people don’t know that the first Marty McFly is not the one that made it screens. These movies are still being screened across the world to this very day and are still huge talking points for people that love the medium. But Before Back to the Future 2 was even a thought, there was some serious casting changes happening on set. The same goes for another major character who didn’t make it past the first movie. Marty McFly was fired from Back to the Future and the other character walked away from the franchise.
    Tracks by the incredible GC, Kiyoto and The Deli!

    TH-cam'S Copyright removed like 8 seconds of the video towards the end, so that abrupt transition is not your eyes playing tricks on you. Luckily it doesn't really impact the content of the video, but still a bit annoying.
    Is there a franchise that you’d want to see rebooted or get a new entry?
    Big shoutout to Jess Dixon for the minimalist Marty poster!

      Yeah people don’t talk about that much but there was widespread belief both internally and outwardly that the original BTF was not going to make waves and that it was going to end up costing the studio a large amount of cash. The replacement actress (Elisabeth Shue) ended up having a better acting career than original actress Claudia Wells, who retired early to be with her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer. Not to say that her life since then hasn't been noteworthy. She manages a clothing store she founded in the '90s (Armani Wells), which she still manages, and she has returned to acting in smaller projects. She even got to reprise her role as Jennifer in the 2011 _Back to the Future_ video game.

  • @TheMarcHicks
    @TheMarcHicks ปีที่แล้ว +16

    If Crispin thought the take-home message was "Money Buys Happiness", then he clearly wasn't paying proper attention. One of the chief credos of the film is stated 3 times-"If you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!" The family isn't happy *because* they're "rich". They're happy because they're all self-confident. The money is just a nice little by-product of that. Never forget that, despite the improvement in their financial situation, they still live in Lyons Park, instead of the much richer area that gets established in the later films.

    poor glover, thought everyone was too dumb to realize the point of the ending was that happiness and confidence lead to financial success, not the other way around, and it was a pretty clear message: if you let people walk all over you out of fear, you will almost certainly be miserable. Then he walks away because they won't pay him as much, making his issues with the ending sound even more absurd. He seemed to have a huge chip on his shoulder for a long time, I hope he is doing better now, but I am kind of afraid to look because hollywood stories that start that way rarely turn out well

    I don’t agree with Grover interpretation of the ending, think about it, since Marty helped his dad have more courage and stick up for himself, his dad later no longer takes Biffs crap, as we see in the beginning, he pays for his dry cleaning, and anything else Biff needs, then his wife, who drinks and obviously doesn’t care or is too tired to care, hardly cleans it’s depressing in the beginning as we see, then when he gets back, they are still in the same house, so they aren’t exactly rich, they just are no longer giving money to Biff, his father is more happier and has more confidence in himself, his mother is more lively and taking care of herself. If they were rich, I don’t think they would be in the same house tbh, they’d be in something bigger or somewhere more of luxurious 🤷🏻‍♀️ that’s just my take.

    • @airget

      Ya, it feels like he just saw it wrong, it's not like they magically came into money. It was that his character arc of overcoming his fear and standing up to his bully allowed him to have the courage to write and publish his book.
      If there was one thing I'd change though it's how BIff is portrayed after. I feel what lacks is how Biff is bullied by the Father in a sense and how sub-servant he comes off towards him. It's like sure, he decked Biff and got the girl in the end but having Biff still be in their life in such a manner does feel a bit mean-spirited.
      Like if I could rewrite it, they could of had Biff be a better person and then in part 2 he realizes that Marty had access to a time machine and the person he saw in the past was the same person in the present since he's now seeing this person in the future and it would of boiled his blood to the point where he would want to change things where Marty ruined his life. That would of offered more meaning towards Biff's actions rather than him just being a bad person.

    I didn't know that Glover disliked the ending of the first movie and I gotta say I gotta fully disagree on that.
    Marty and his family aren't more happy because "money buys happiness" they're more happy because thanks to Marty's effort to change his father from a weakling and spineless dork that no one respect to a confident and badass that finally knows how to stand up for himself against the bully that made him into a pathetic man in the first place.
    In other words, the ending shows because of George's change personality he became a better man, a better husband, a better father, a better businessman and best of all he's respected by everyone including Biff, but he also treats Biff with respect because he knows better which also implies that his kindhearted nature or at least human decency never left.
    That's the point of the ending.

      Perhaps it was the message. You'd have to be really simple to only see the wealth in the ending. Chances are he saw what the movie made and said "I want more." Same thing happened to Terrence Howard in the Iron Man trilogy.
      Thinking back on it, it's really ironic that he reportedly saw the ending as money buys happiness and he wasn't happy with what he would have got paid for the sequel.

Part 2 teaches Marty the evils of using time travel for financial gain, Part 3 teaches Marty that love is more important than ego and reputation. If they were going to take his advice in the end anyway, why not just admit it and patch things up with Glover. Why lie and give him the shaft?

      Meh. Look, the entire ordeal came about because one actor didn't like one aspect of the story being worked on by the people who hired said actor. He was out of line. Full stop. He's the one who made the entire thing blow up the way it did, and the compromises that were forced onto the producers were his fault entirely. Let me stress that point: Things that made the second movie a lesser movie are there because one actor throwing a fit left the producers with their hands tied.

    • @nicktubara
      @nicktubara 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@Asterra2 oh please Crispin having to be vocal about the script towards the end is why Bob Gale constantly puts so much negatives into him throughout the constant director commentaries he does in the Dvd releases of BTTF. It's a case of one person's ego getting the better of Bob and being so bitter about how Crispin spoke up and made many suggestions his ego couldn't handle that someone that didnt have top billing like MJF had could still speak up and be vocal about his ideas.

    • @nicktubara
      @nicktubara 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      And may i add, the fact that Bob Gale used a mould of Crispin's face and have another actor wear that face mould to give the appearance that he is in the movie when in actual fact Bob offered Crispin less than half of the amount Crispin asked for the 2nd movie and Crispin refused understandably so, is the reason Crispin isnt in parts 2 and 3. Bob puts so much shit on Crispin at whichever chance he gets. I love the BTTF movies even part 3 but Bob Gale and his pretentious ego i have no like towards him at all.
