There are real Richie's in this world. You just have to find them, they don't find you

And the poor dogs.
@@gothixxx12 Those are not dogs, those are Pitbulls.
The daughter, Linda, is fine. When Mike presumably eats some of the pie, the curse would be transferred from her to him.

holy shit and I thought this was supposed to be a comedy movie lmao what a rollercoaster
Haha for real

its a Stephen King for a reason
Really? You didn't see the trailers for this movie way back then?
What movie is this?
this doesnt sound like a curse until you start going too far in the opposite direction
let's say if he doesn't eat - he dies out of hunger anyways
@standardcake Sound Like A Blessing
@@Andriy_Moskalenko i don't believe it works that way, he kept losing weight but he wasn't hungry all the time. it would have been much worse if he kept craving food never feeling sated or that somehow the food never made it past behind his tongue.
That's what I'm saying. It sounds more like a blessing until it goes too far!
Which is the point in the movie. Losing weight is easy anyway. If you don't have self control it's your fault.
In 1996 in the USA, 300 pounds was a comically obese man.
Now 300 is the making of a varsity athlete.
yep, they're 600lbs now and getting fatter!!
300 pounds is still ridiculously overweight, it's just that some people are stupid enough to think you can be 300 pounds and healthy. Edit: And people just not caring about their health, I guess.

Plot twist: The name of the Gypsy curse is Ozempic.
Definitely a comment that deserves more appreciation.
I remember reading this book in junior high...it was graphic AF but then again, it IS Stephen King! 🤷🏾♂
The curse of the white man from town!
Actually it was written by Michael McDowell and Holland. The film is based on a Stephen King's 1984 novel of the same name (which he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) but it was marketed as Stephen king
@@ThaisSantos94what's the novel name?

Well thank God he kept Richie out of prison 😅
Suddenly prison doesn't seem so bad.
Wow. The main dude in this movie is a real piece of work. I was starting to feel sorry for him, then the last minute and a half of the summary came and that sympathy evaporated. He could have given that pie to an animal and then euthanized it, but instead he used it to murder his wife. Then after his daughter ate it I was horrified since she was completely innocent of the negative events of the movie, but then he fed it to someone else, too. Again, what a piece of work.
Stephen Kings Thinner. Classic!!!
You forgot the best line, "Eat your own pie!"
Both Thinner and Drag Me To Hell teach us one thing: Don't piss off the Romani
0:40 I miss that old doritos design lol
I second the motion to return Doritos to the previous design referenced.
Everyone needs a friend like Richie. Go the EXTRA mile when you think there isn't a way through.
"Thinnerrrrrrrr." Back when Sci Fi was Sci Fi and not SyFy.
Whats wrong with Gina anyway? I mean Billy is indifferent towards her caravan and even decline his boss challenge
Perhaps Gina's attitude would have differed if Billy stood up to his boss. The gypsy hasn't done anything yet to be treated less respectfully than Billy's own daughter.
Instead, somehow the Gina knew she was disrespected in a way involving a 🪙 coin and lifting her💃skirt.
Killed someone ,covered it up .No true regret and no genuine remorse. Unbelievable
It wasn't exactly like it was murder.
And the so called victim was at least equally to blame.
Maybe dont walk onto the road randomly
@@wolfgangkranek376 The Gypsies murdered a random guy for no reason and did unspeakable things to his corpse purely to send a message. They also think slowly and agonizingly torturing to death people that have wrong them is justice. There are no good guys in this film.
Nicest WASP:
It was a mistake, it was somewhat the woman fault, he came, cried and begged at their feet and they laughed at him and impaled his hand, leaving him with unbearable pain, it's fair the gypsies got that
Imagine being so petty as to curse someone to a slow death and/or disfigurement over something as petty as being rude and disrespectful.
Who?
well they get scout free while a person die and got no consequent
He killed the daughter of the man who was cursing him first and then got off Scott free so the gypsies took revenge.
I think the gypsy guy was the victim here, though he really didnt need to kill them slowly
@user-yv7zt4vc7j as much of a victim as some one who tortures people over essentially having a bad attitude
“He was a mook. But he was MY mook.” Richie really made that movie.
1. Best curse possible
2.Richie is the best friend you could never had
Moral of the story: Dont make love while driving
Or better yet don't come across gypsies period.
With the remake, the message is changed to: "Drive a Tesla!"
All these films with gypsy curses, you'd have thought the gypsies would have either used their powers to better the lots in life, or people would have taken notice of this one group and done something about it.
😂
That kind of thing is actually a major factor in the TTRPG Mage the Ascension. Basically, the world generally agrees on what is and isn't possible, so to cast spells you either need to have it appear plausible coincidental (such as a guy's cigarette lighter exploding in his hand, burning him horribly), or you need to have sufficient willpower to override the concensus and exert your will on reality as vulgar magick (pulling a fireball from thin air and throwing it at a guy.) Vulgar magick accrues points of paradox, and while they bleed off slowly over time they can randomly explode all at once. A couple points you might lose your sense of smell for a day or something. But literally anything is possible depending on how much paradox you've built up. Maybe your hands get permanently replaced with butts. Maybe you start endlessly sweating weird sticky green shit. It's the DM's license to just royally fuck with you, and they are encouraged to do so. But even without paradox, vulgar magick draws unwanted attention not just from the general public, but from hunters, the inquisition, werewolves kill them on sight, and vampires view them as wagyu beef for their potent blood. So like Gandalf says, "Keep it secret, keep it safe."
Well Hitler did, it was brutal…
Curses and blessings are very real. But like everything, there are legal spiritual rules that must be adhered to for it to work. It is not a joke, I have seen generations of males in a certain family wiped out (death by fire) including whole villages. This is nothing to joke about, there are spirit entities working in our world that your heart would fail if God revealed the actual surrounding you.
@@residentidiot9694 Care to send anywhere for me to research this? Saying this in the most polite, genuinely interested way possible.
Richi is one awesome supporting character.
The most unrealistic thing about this movie is the fact that 300 pounds is seen as the upper end of morbidly obese,
But if he kissed his wife's rotting body, won't he get the curse back!
Either way he’s got his curse back
@@artisticangel5795 how?
@@talhahowlader1078 By eating the cursed pie of course. Just think about it
If you kissed the deceased who ate the pie and taken on the curse, and if that’s the case then you might end up getting the curse the very same curse from the beginning of the movie back onto you.
But if you ate the pie then you’ll get your old curse back thus sharing the same fate as his cheating wife and spoiled daughter.
I hope this makes any sense. 🤔
but she is already dead so that means the curse is over since it is a single dosage of it and death is the price for it to disappear or at least its my interpretation of it

Critics and people hated on this film, but I really enjoyed it back in the 90s and have watched it again numerous times. Holds up well.
What part of this movie was meant to be enjoyable? From the sound of the recap some gypsies curse a guy for not liking them even though he never even expresses it to them directly. They sound like assholes.
Critics hated this movie because it had "bad moral lessons". Let it be known that not all art is a children's tale that needs a good lesson.
@@Jorge-np3tqI think an interesting dynamic about the movie is it's told from the villain's pov; he's a character with no real likeable qualities. Ordinarily the ones with supernatural powers in a horror are the villains, but they're justified in placing the curse on him. It probably made for an uncomfortable viewing when it came out.
a classic.

Eating excessively does increase the rate of weight loss.

Why do you not give the title of the movie in the title or description? Sure I know what it was, but that's not the point. It's a courtesy to those who don't know.

I see the title. So how is this a curse again. This is a blessing if someone gets in an accident or injured and gains weight. It’s a blessing that they lose weight everytime they eat. That means you can heal everytime you eat. Well depending on how much weight you have on your body. Depending on if the weight is healthy or unhealthy

Gotta love Stephen King, novel was hard to read but I was only 12 at the time, my mom ordered me the movie off Amazon for my 13th Bday.
That movie is pretty good it's worth the watch
GREAT film!!
I like how to say self deleted instead of just saying dying
This is due to the algorithm primarily.
If the convoluted synonyms aren't used the video may be demoted, shadow-banned, removed, etc. The account using the no-no-word may also receive similar actions to their accounts on that platform and others.
If a comment is reported or processed by the algorithm, the comment may be removed or hidden from everyone but the poster. The poster may be restricted from posting, have comments hidden/removed, be placed on a watchlist, be banned temporarily or permanently, etc.
The risk is different on different sites. Also, one social media can punish an account for using no-no words elsewhere than its site.
Even using the word for changing the colour of a garment or one's hair can cause issues. The algorithm has issues with homonyms as context often doesn't matter. It seems most algorithms treat homonyms as the no-no-word version regardless.
Pretty good one thx
Most of my weight gain has been from booze. So.....in this case I could eat and lose weight while I am drinking to gain it?
Lol i'm from Connecticut so that first line hit different
No mater how tragic the movie is, with that beautiful background music i always think there will be a happy end
I really appreciate the recaps and all, but these videos need more quality control. The TTS says many things that don't make sense which I assume are errors in the source text.

Why did Teddy think Billy was to blame for his daughter getting killed? She wasn't paying attention when walking across the street, and he had the right of way. If Teddy somehow knew that Billy "accepted" a particular distraction while he was driving, then I think the film should have went more into it to show us that Teddy knew all along what went on in that car.
well, in the book its because there was no punishment given. No jail time, no fine, nothing. He walked away. He found that to be unacceptable and tried to carry out his own justice. Though... it really backfired in alot of ways.
@@Brakzillaa I understand that, but I was asking if Teddy somehow knew of the oral sex that Billy's wife gave him while he was driving. Did the book mention that?
