So many pearlers in here, thanks Tammy! I particularly liked ‘setting realistic expectations’. So true!

I really enjoyed this video! ✨Could you do a "behind the scenes" video of creating a pattern? I'd really be interested in seeing how you get inspiration and turn it into a piece. I don't want to start my own pattern company, but I'd like to experiment with making my own designs for myself this year, just not sure where to start! :)

So glad you loved the video! I can definitely look at doing a behind the scenes series of making a pattern! I would personally start with making a bodice, skirt or pant block and manipulate that to create your desired piece ❤️

Loved the video! Would you mind to share if you do the patterns and grade them or you outsource this part. I find myself struggling with figuring out how to grade on illustrator since it's soo time consuming. Many thanks 🌷

Thank you so much! So glad you love this video ❤️ I create the patterns and then depending on the complexity I send the pattern off to be graded by someone else. However I’ve been learning how to do this, and my last 2 patterns I’ve graded myself. It’s definitely a skill that takes time to learn and also just understanding how the body changes as it gets smaller or larger. ❤️

Hi I loved this video thank you so much! I was just wondering if you had any websites that you could recommend for making your own sewing pattern digitally.

Thank you! There’s so many online courses and websites for creating sewing patterns, you also search ‘how to make sewing patterns on adobe illustrator’ and find relevant courses ❤️

I’d actually love to start my own sewing patterns, but unfortunately my country isn’t listed on Etsy, and I can’t list digital products on my website where I sell garments. Is there any market places other than Etsy that you’d recommend?

I'm not really sure of any other websites other than Etsy, you can easily set up a Squarespace website to sell digital patterns :)

Can you give some info on how to license your designs to a patternmaking company?

If you’re talking about my actual designs, please do not use my patterns as these are my intellectual property.
But if you mean how you can make sewing patterns that a pattern making company can use, you’d have to talk directly to them as you will be the pattern maker in that scenario?

If you think that you can sit down and do patterns just like that you are wrong. Professionals learn the skills in years, I would never buy a pattern not done by a professional. A lot goes into to it....far too much not to study it FOR YEARS. People often think that they purchase Adobe Illustrator and draw patterns...LOL not understanding pattern making. You need to understand first what the heck you are drawing, know where every line and curve comes...know calculations, measurements, know garment construction, sewing techniques, fitting methods. No you don't have to be an expert to do anything low quality.
