Watched your video, tied up one, then reviewed your video. I was using too much bucktail. These big tube flies are a new thing for me, just got an hmh tube adapter. Great piece of kit🤙🎣🐟
Hey Davie, It's a beautiful tube fly version of the Willy Gunn. I wondered if skunk, or Black Bear for the top wing. Good substitutes? If not please explain why, whenever you have a chance. I realize you are very busy, but I really am trying to learn suitable hairwing subs. I would test the materials myself, But tI have no suitable substitute for seeing the action as it would be in the water. Hope you and a Happy Christmas, and the New year holds nothing but the best for you and your family. Sean
Hi N.IFISHING, I started many years ago with a Veniards kit which was for tying trout flies. I have attached a link to one which is for salmon though if this is not what you are wanting to tye they do a trout version as well..If you ask at your local tackle shop they could put a kit together to suit the flies you want to tye and fish to suit the waters you fish, it may also be worth asking your local fishing club as they may have tying classes as this is a great way to learn too..I hope this is of some help to you and gets you tying your own flies.. All the very best Davie.. www.fishingmegastore.com/fly-tying-kits/veniard-salmon-fly-tying-kit~3205.html
Hi Jason, There's many good vise's out there as most will hold the hook well you just have to pick one that will suit the type of flies you want to tye...Dyna-King, HMH, Jvise, Norvise, Regal, Snowbee Waldron and Pro-vise which is very close to the Law that I use. This is a small selection so have a good look around before you make you choice and if you can try one before you buy.. All the very best Davie..
That's a lovely WG fly - much nicer with the black wing on top than the standard pattern IMO. Cheers Phil.
Works fine for seatrout too
looks like it would work absolutely brilliant around now up in ireland as well, on the drowes and the liffey

Mr. McPhail, which tube fly would work for Florida. Any suggestion?
Nice1 Davie. Have a cool and safe 2017, all the best.
Beautiful as usual Davie. I notice no rib, is the body robust enough without it?
The Mikael Frödin Braid is super super strong! The best I´ve ever used (Y)
Hi Aldo21t,
It is really strong but adding a rib will not do it any harm..I'm glad you like it...
All the very best Davie...
