if i had to guess, that wooden box with the turn table (or lazy susan for us north americans sometimes term it as) is probably for bonsai trees to turn periodically so it gets even sunlight distribution on the tree's different sides.

One thing that really strikes me is just how impeccably clean and organized it all is for the sheer size of the place and variety of what they have. A typical thrift store only a fraction of the size here in the west always has that feeling of a bomb having gone off in it by comparison.

nearly any thrift store here in Georgia, USA, is going to look like it was ransacked.

The Japanese just have so much respect for everything especially cleanliness. That's just one of the qualities they have amongst quite a few others.

It’s levels of degree of worship of consumerism. Unfortunately Japan is probably one of the worst in the world for that

This is the hugest thrift store I’ve ever seen! With Norm’s excitement, it felt like I was treasure hunting there😆Easily half a day can be spent there looking around all the great stuff! Thank you for the fun shopping video, I really want to visit there!✨

LETS GOOO!!! Idk why but I have a passion for thrift stores. The idea of suddenly finding something I've wanted as a bargain, or even something I didn't even KNOW I wanted is amazing, so every time you upload one I like to share your passion for the stuff you see from a distance 😂.

  • @wwgbert

The turntable device you were looking at, I think it is for working on / trimming bonsai trees. It makes it easier to trim around the tree/ plant.

These places are DEADLY. Not in the sense that you'll get lost and starve (though that's also easily possible), but you'll end up bringing back suitcases full of stuff 😂
Bought back like 3 suitcases full of toys 2 years in a row, haha.
Hope you're doing well, Norm!! :D

I love these thrift store adventures!
The Pyrex prices are insane though having grown up with them being considered “old-fashioned” at the time. I love that they’re still treasured. And all the model trains…!
Thank you for the visual feast!
    Take care!

I have NEVER seen a thrift store that size before, not even an eighth that size. It's like a mega supermarket!! I'm astounded at what can be sold too. I've managed three different charity shops in the UK. That is absolutely Insane!!! My favourite section is always the bricabrac as you never know what you'll find to be able to use ❤ Your excitement was catching, so wonderful to see such enthusiasm 😊

Another great Tokyo Lens Video. I've always loved thrift shops, or as we call them here in the UK 2nd hand shops/charity shops. That excitement of never knowing what treasures you might find. When I last visited Japan I had a friend that took me to some large and I mean LARGE Bookoff Super Bazaars and other recycle shops in Chiba but this one in your video is like the cave of wonders from Aladdin. I'll definitely be spending a day there in the future. Thanks for ruining my bank balance Norm! /j ;D

Always loved the second hand stores in Japan. Got me so many Manga, games and merch back in the day during my couple months in Japan and been browsing there every week. Guess having had multiple Book Off locations right by the stations on my daily commute did not help much in not finding myself browsing for too long.

Norm I think you have found a very happy place for you. I think I would lose a week or more in someplace like that just wandering around. Well organized and clean what a great store. I shudder to think of the amount of the real estate for all of that stuff to all occupy since it was all one level it appeared. Not a small amount. Thanks for taking us on another journey to entice us on the merits of Japan.

Seeing this huge thrift store makes me kinda sad that my local thrift store, and other retails stores are not as organize. I feel like in the last 10 years there's been a big shift towards quantity over quality shopping experiences so it's hard to find organized stores that you can actually find what you're looking for

I picked up some Tomica/Tomy diecast JDM cars from BookOff Little Tokyo today for $5 each. We also have BookOffs in Gardena/Torrance, though the retro game and Gunpla/figures are a bit overpriced. Scored some dope Patlabor/Iria/GitS/Bubblegum Crisis OST CDs a while back when they were still cheap.

Love your Japanese shop videos, this thrift shop is incredible 😁. I would definitely be going round with a shopping trolley/cart so I can get loads of stuff 😂

@@anthonynelson6671 The second I saw all those anime figures, I was like I would happily empty my bank account in this shop, and then all that Lego too 🤣

I'm so glad you pressed the typewriter keys. I so wanted to hear that noise.

Wow, that's a massive thrift shop! There was so much it was actually overwhelming. Idon't know what I'd buy, but I'd definitely like to visit the gaccha section! I love the idea of Shimayama-san's shop pins, I can't wait to see them!

Multiple things with this one: #1 I 100% Pierce Brosman is the Best Bond. #2 I would be in heaven and bankrupt with all those in box N64 Games; #3 Those clowns brought up suppressed memories. #4 And as always, amazing video Norm!!

My father once bought me a toy from japan and even though it was pre owned, the condition is still pristine even to this day! Japanese really know how to take care of stuff 👍

Pierce Brosnan is my favourite James Bond as well.
I grew up watching but not really understanding Remington Steele but it was my favourite show and I ever convinced my parents to name my sister Laura, after Laura Holt.
