honestly it's kind of sad that so many idols are so low in the tiers. tier a for vocalists is very doable with good instruction and consistent practice. average tier is basically when you have decent foundations. these companies must be hiring absolutely terrible voice teachers. tier a level of technique can take as little as a few months to get to and the average training period for idols is literally several years. it's like they just lock trainees in practice rooms and tell them to magically become better singers edit: guys there's a difference between there's MORE to an idol than being able to sing well and just having no grasp of vocal technique. i'm not asking for idols to turn into beyonce or whitney houston. if they get any vocal training at all it's ridiculous that only a small fraction of them ever get to the point where they even have basic elementary vocal technique. you can even get that good with NO instruction. it's just the basics. that's like learning someone's job involves math among other things and they don't even know how to do multiplication. it's BASIC technique. it's the point at which you have a good grasp of basic vocal technique. it's not advanced. literally anyone can get there (save medical issues that may affect your ability to develop technique). people can literally get there on their own without any voice lessons and just practicing by themselves for fun. i've literally had like two voice lessons and have been practicing on and off for like a few weeks and i've already improved more than some idols in the u and u-w region have in their entire careers. i'm not consistent and i don't have a lot of free time and i'm just doing it as a hobby. i literally even had to take a break for 3 weeks because i had a really bad throat infection. i'm seriously NOT asking for idols to suddenly become vocal gods. i don't even think all of the vocalists in a group need to be in average tier or above. it's just ridiculous to have idols WITH vocalist positions who are literally worse vocalists than random people off the street. these people get YEARS of training. years. it's okay if you don't want to have any standards but don't get mad at those of us who do.
I think k-pop companies are focusing in the wrong things like some focus in stylish but without teaching the idols how to balance that with healthy techniques and a lot of times they focus just in stamina for singing while dancing
Actually they don’t focus as much on looks unless you need plastic surgery, for normal kids make up skin care and diet can elevate their look already. What they really emphasize is dance because there’s actually a lot of really good singers in Korea, but they cannot make the cut just because they are lacking in dancing. There are good singers out there too like 2am even jamie park and yerin used to be a group, but vocal group are not the same as idol group, if you really want to listen to good vocals you just have to look elsewhere.
it's insane to me how yunjin has arguably the best head voice of 4th Gen but her mixed is so underdeveloped and powerless. Especially with the songs she has with lsrfm her placement is very weird? she lacks severe live materials but from the blue flame live at a festival video I saw she seems to struggle even with A4s

@@silverdiangelo8117 jype has different divisions for each of their group. For example Stray Kids are under Dive 2, while Itzy are at Dive 4 and Twice is at dive 3. Nmixx are under a different division, which explains the difference in vocals. Dive 2 and Dive 3 are the divisions that are more focused with a simple vocal line such as one average main vocal (Jihyo, Woojin) and two or more lead vocals weak to average ( Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Seungmin, Jeongin, Han). Dive 4 was created solely for itzy, so this is why their vocals are so below the rest of jype groups, it was a completely different division.
Goeun is pretty much more grounded in her mid range to B4 and her lows are G♯3/A3. Swan is definitely above Giselle, Swan is ain't that inconsistent it's just her tongue placement that makes her sounds "stuck". Pretty much she has better control at the engagement than Giselle.
Jype really went from being made fun of weak vocals to having one of the best vocalist ever 😭 i can’t wait to see how much lily will grow, like i genuinely find her to be the strongest rookie vocalist like no one has been as strong as she is on DEBUT. not a single voice crack, belting like crazy, having such solid technique and her breath control is insane 😭
They were never really that bad tho. They usually get main vocalists who are average or around C tier or around the level of Yunjin/Nayoung/Winter/Haram/Goeun/Suhyeon. It's really only with ITZY and maybe Miss A where JYP didn't do like usual in terms of debuting groups with average main vocalists
None of the main vocalists or lead vocalists in previous JYP groups were bad though. The company also had Jamie and Baek Yerin (two of some of the best solo vocalists) under their company, but people just ignore them.
I always disagree with survival shows like that, like what happened to Jiwon she was very nervous to appear in front of the public and in front of JYP and other judges and it made his singing messy, I mean it's natural for him to be nervous compared to appearing in front of fans who cheer her up

moral of this video: most kpop vocalists are extremely undeveloped and untrained. they rely of unique vocal color, their natural range, and high notes to get through their careers. most of these idols have such good voices to start out with, if only companies invested in them. they would have the technique to back their talent up. 😢

Tbh, jyp has always had decent if not good vocalists. Suzy, Jia, Sunye, Jamie, Baek Yerin. I think the reputation got weaker during 3rd and 4th gen, until nmixx debut. Ngl, all of these idols here actually are those who don't have strong quality of jyp's 'half-air' method. Especially for Jamie and Baek Yerin. They're definitely the best vocalists among jyp vocalists.
I think after twice incident they start to focus more on their vocal training. The improvement vocal skill from itzy to nmixx is hug. But even twice improve alot in their live singing they still ge a lot of hate
There is 119 idols on the list and up to the 56th they’re all either F or F+… and from those 63 idols only like 4-5 at best are actually good/decent rappers. I know it’s kpop but still kinda crazy to me how you can not have any decent talent in vocals nor rapping and still debut in a musical industry.

Good ranking. It’s accurate. I’ve been saying that best vocalist doesn’t mean main vocalist in many groups, but there are people that think that position of the group represent the talent of them. I think in 3rd gen basically all main vocalist are the best in their group (only Dreamcatcher maybe being the exception) but it’s quite common in 4rd gen the best vocalist isn’t the main vocalist.
You can’t be good at any of that without support. Nobody on this list has standout potential in agility besides Ning Ning and haewon (who are both ranked high). Kpop in general has almost zero focus on agility so it wouldn’t make sense to have that as a factor in analyzing the idols’ techniques What do you mean by stamina? Do you mean vocal stamina? Stamina will come with well developed chords and support
I used all of those in my ranking. That’s why Miyeon (who has only supports at best to Bb4) is higher than ppl like Jiwoo and Liz (who have supported B4s) bcuz she has better head voice, quality, and dynamics. Ik what I’m talking abt

4th generations vocal trinity is Haewon, Lily, and Ningning. Why? Lily, best in Upper register. Haewon, boldest in mix register. Ningning, best in low register.

yunjin deserves to be higher idk... girlie has an amazing head voice and and i believe there has been some improvement in her chest/belting voice since she trained at hybe recently... like chaewon sounds less strained than before so i think yunjin maybe improved too but we need more material to make a conclusion

@@silverdiangelo8117 jype has different divisions for each of their group. For example Stray Kids are under Dive 2, while Itzy are at Dive 4 and Twice is at dive 3. Nmixx are under a different division, which explains the difference in vocals. Dive 2 and Dive 3 are the divisions that are more focused with a simple vocal line such as one average main vocal (Jihyo, Woojin) and two or more lead vocals weak to average ( Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Seungmin, Jeongin, Han). Dive 4 was created solely for itzy, so this is why their vocals are so below the rest of jype groups, it was a completely different division.

Jype really went from being made fun of weak vocals to having one of the best vocalist ever 😭 i can’t wait to see how much lily will grow, like i genuinely find her to be the strongest rookie vocalist like no one has been as strong as she is on DEBUT. not a single voice crack, belting like crazy, having such solid technique and her breath control is insane 😭
They were never really that bad tho. They usually get main vocalists who are average or around C tier or around the level of Yunjin/Nayoung/Winter/Haram/Goeun/Suhyeon. It's really only with ITZY and maybe Miss A where JYP didn't do like usual in terms of debuting groups with average main vocalists

Good ranking. It’s accurate. I’ve been saying that best vocalist doesn’t mean main vocalist in many groups, but there are people that think that position of the group represent the talent of them.
I think in 3rd gen basically all main vocalist are the best in their group (only Dreamcatcher maybe being the exception) but it’s quite common in 4rd gen the best vocalist isn’t the main vocalist.

You can’t be good at any of that without support. Nobody on this list has standout potential in agility besides Ning Ning and haewon (who are both ranked high). Kpop in general has almost zero focus on agility so it wouldn’t make sense to have that as a factor in analyzing the idols’ techniques

@@anaavila9326 I've seen some idols who self taught themselves how to sing, Swan of Craxy managed to achieve A-AA and she's also self taught, so seeing Boeun being able to achieve weak to average at a young age really impresses me, though I wish she can get formal training too, she'll sky rocket especially since she's young

yunjin deserves to be higher idk... girlie has an amazing head voice and and i believe there has been some improvement in her chest/belting voice since she trained at hybe recently... like chaewon sounds less strained than before so i think yunjin maybe improved too but we need more material to make a conclusion
