I really like the pacing this series is taking. The little scenes, like Clint walking up the stairs in Kate's apartment after seeing the floor (cause in Avengers 1 he says he sees better from a distance) showing him making the ice packs, showing the scenes of them walking into the mom's house to get to her computer, etc. I think really adds more to the show and helps ground it, especially with a more realistic tone. The fast paced continued jump cuts between various scenes I think can hurt a movie if constantly used, which is one of the things I personally wasn't a huge fan of from Black Widow.
Ok Holden and Jen... another possible reveal that most people missed. In the comics Hawkeye was married to, and divorced from a Shield Agent code named Mockingbird... and Clint's wife was the one who brought up the Rolex and they both had thought it had been destroyed years ago. Sooooooo... who IS Laura Barton?
Here's a theory. Mockingbird's name was Bobbi Morse. Since they used that character in Agents of Shield, they had to come up with a different name for Clint's wife.
the scene in which yelena threw kate off the building and clint thought he lost her was great, they brought back the same theme they used when natasha died
Right?! I’m just hoping it doesn’t follow the other shows’ lead of having spectacular early episodes (FatWS withstanding) only to botch the ending and leave the series as “fine” when revisiting it later. So far Hawkeye has been spectacular!! I just hope the motivation of the villain(s) don’t disappoint!! 😅
I'm liking this series vibe so far, just 2 people trying to solve some street level troubles, it's a good change of paste. I'd say if it ends good it would beat WandaVision for the 2nd best Disney+ Marvel show for me.
3:06 "All of a sudden"? did you forget The sword was always retractable since endgame? Heck in episode one of Hawkeye Jack literally demonstrates that it's retractable that's how he stole it so easily.
I loved this episode! It was really sweet to see Clint and Kate have that bonding montage of them decorating and doing all the fun Christmas activities. As well as Kate hearing about Nat, his family and him being the Ronan. I had heard that Yalana was going to be in this series so seeing her pop up in this episode was so much fun!
Two things: 1. "The Shot You Don't Take" and it's usage here, was brilliant 2. During rewatching you will get to see all 4 people on the rooftop, pull back, when they are not facing someone they are going after (you get to see Yelena tether Kate to the roof, before throwing her off the roof) It's the little things the MCU gets right, that make the biggest difference.
That was indeed Fisk - Vincent D'Onofrio confirmed it was his laugh we heard in a recent podcast. And you are right... Feige wouldn't have made that statement if they didn't have Charlie Cox under contract, otherwise it's too easy to lose him to another production.
For someone who doesn’t like the notoriety that comes with being an Avenger, Clint sure does trade on the trust that engenders. Hopefully he sees that.
So many signs as Laura Barton being a shield agent or former “mockingbird”. Even back in Age of Ultron she tricked Tony into going into the barn to meet with Fury.
I think he means in comparison to Endgame, where we first see the sword. But I can't say for sure if it did or did not get retracted at some point in that! I don't think he's saying they changed it within the continuity of this 1 show, obviously they will have decided on something like that before all the filming :')
Okay… this could be the biggest long shot ever, but I’m thinking the watch relates back to WandaVision and the woman in witness protection who played Dottie. That’s literally the only person I could think of that we’ve met who needed to keep their identity a secret, and in the episode where she was introduced, the commercial that played in Wanda’s Hex was an advertisement for a vintage watch “He never goes anywhere without his Strücker”.
Technically 2 weeks, since we saw Kingpin last week and Matt will be next week. But if you are talking about actually seeing the face and hearing the character... it will possibly even be the same day! Both next episode and NWH come out next Wednesday :O
What do you mean that the sword being contractable is a plot convenience all of a sudden? It was like that in Episode 1, and I'm fairly certain it was like that in Endgame...
I like the theory that not only is Laura a likely former SHIELD agent, but that she might be codename Mockingbird, and that the watch is engraved with a note that ties her to that role.
Everything Holden was saying when he realized it was Yelena is what was going through my mind when I watched this for the first time. I'm glad to have Holden's first viewing so I can at last relive the first time I see big MCU moments.
I really liked this episode. There was a lot of tension between the characters and we could see a lot of the back and forth with Hawkeye liking Kate and wanting to work with her but also knowing how dangerous it is and how devastating it would be to him and her mom if something were to happen to her. I also thought it was interesting the way they included Yelena. She was just kinda thrown in there and didn't even have dialogue. Hawkeye seemed to be able to defeat her with relative ease, not to mention she had a gun at first and the element of surprise so if she wanted to kill him (which we assume would be her motive because she thinks he killed Nat) she totally could have. I'm interested to see the why she didn't kill him and what her motive truly is.
I literally was just telling my buddies at church about the boomerang arrows conversation in the comic the show is partly inspired by. So when they had that conversation on the show I was pretty excited. This show is awesome!
That was very obviously Vincent Donofrio’s laugh in episode 3. And in the comics Echo is Kingpin’s adoptive daughter so it’s not a long shot to say he’ll be in this series.
Hey, Holden and Jen! Natasha looms over this chapter. Here's my take on Episode 4: What's been a marriage of inconvenience for Clint has been a dream come true for Kate but, in this episode, the bond becomes real. Funny "Meet the Parents" sit-down with Jacques and Eleanor. Eleanor's plea is the first Nat callback. There's no plot armor in the real world. Was Clint a pickpocket in another life? How did he slip that sword out of the penthouse? Laura is Clint's 'man in the chair' as Spidey's Ned would say! Was Mrs. Barton an Army brat or did she study German in high school or is she another ex-SHIELD retiree? A Barton and Bishop Holiday Special! The two Hawkeyes and Pizza Dog get friendly at AUNT MOIRA's pad with frozen daiquiris, tree decorating, "It's A Wonderful Life", trick finger-flick shots and talk of boomerang arrows. In the comics, Clint kills Kazi with a flicked toothpick and the boomerang arrow was part of Clint's arsenal! Foreshadowing? Kate susses out some dark truths about Clint but her admiration only deepens: Nat was his best shot, the Snap claimed his family and Ronin was his alter-ego. Clint sees Vormir in the dark watches of the night. GRILLS and the LARPers return to restock Clint's quiver and to design a possibly comic-accurate outfit. Clint gets the drop on Kazi but tries to make peace by seeking common ground: he stokes Kazi's ambition, points out the futility of Echo's vendetta and reminds him that "The Big Man" prefers discretion. More Wilson Fisk build-up! Laura pings the missing Rolex at an apartment the Hawkeyes stake out. Impetuous Kate takes the initiative and bumbles in tripping a silent strobing alarm system for the deaf! It's Maya's place! Kate finds the watch and a list of the family Barton before she gets jumped by Echo and Clint gets jumped by another assailant. Zipline hiccup has Kate stranded between buildings! It's always so smooth in the movies. Fantastic four-way fracas on the roof! Guns are taken out of play, Widow-stings are used, Maya gets clipped by Kate and the mysterious assailant levels the playing field by SECURING Kate before tossing her off the roof. Clint loses a decade of life flashing back to Nat's sacrifice and cuts Kate loose to honor his promise to Eleanor. Stubborn Bishop races back into danger just in time for the big unmasking that reveals YELENA BELOVA! "Black Widow" tie-in! The green goggles she was wearing were similar to her multi-eyed arachnid goggles from the comics. Sh!% just got real for Clint and he puts an end to the partnership. Something tells me it ain't over. Whose identity would be compromised by the WATCH? It couldn't be Tony's Starktech since he was publicly known. Who murdered Armand? Is JACQUES mastermind or patsy, friend or foe? Will we get a great swashbuckling duel for the finale? What will MAYA's reaction be when she discovers Clint murdered William and what will YELENA's reaction be when she learns Clint didn't murder Nat? Is Eleanor MADAME MASQUE? Will she break out her trademark golden faceplate? Will KAZI put on his Pagliacci clown-face make-up before the end? When will "UNCLE" D'ONOFRIO burst onto the stage?
This is so well written! My money’s on both Jack and Eleanor murdered Armand. I hope Echo and Yelena come to the good guy’s side. And for some reason, I don’t think they’ll kill Kazi. He’s Echo’s right hand and interpreter and I just think that for her show, he’s gonna be apart of the dynamic duo.

the whole discussion about boomerang arrows is straight from the comics, but it was actually reversed. in comics, Kate wasn't big on trick arrows and ragged on Clint for them, especially a boomerang arrow. two issues later, she finds out just how useful a good boomerang arrow can be.
(9:07) take note, she was hired by none other than *_VALENTINA ALLEGRA DE FONTAINE_* from the Post Credit Scene of *BLACK WIDOW* and from *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier*
I think why yelena didn’t kill him so easily is because she wants revenge and she wants to know why. Because if you think about it, yelena is a trained assassin. She could have killed him without even him knowing it.
If u couldn't tell because some fans didn't notice but Clint fired/cut Kate loose is because when she fell and was hanging it reminded him of Black Widows death and doesn't want to see it happen to her

@Jaylin Lugo this isn’t true. It COULD end up being the case, but none of us know what they’re planning to do yet except Kevin Feige. Which speaking of, Feige did say that those Netflix characters continuity will be explained over time, so we’ll just have to wait and see
@@rileyribble6733 it most likely is the case, Feige isnt gonna make a season 4 of Daredevil and tell people to go to Netflix watch those 3 seasons and come back
@Jaylin Lugo well obviously it doesn’t mean there’s gonna be a season 4, I think everybody knows that. What I’m just saying is that it doesn’t necessarily guarantee it’s variants, more so a “soft reboot”. Holden, how much time does Jen spend doing her hair for these videos? Her hair is PERFECT in this video. I hope you appreciate all the time and work she puts into looking beautiful for your videos.
I love the detail of Yelena attaching that grappling hook to Kate before she threw her off the roof. Yelena isn't there for Kate, she didn't want to hurt her, she just wanted her out of the way.
Just in a shot in the dark.. but I'm thinking that the post credits scene of black widow could have been set during the events of this show. I mean if Hawkeye started messing with the retrieval of that watch and the tracksuits were hired to get the watch by Val's organization, leaking that photo to Yelena seems like a great way to keep Hawkeye busy. And if it really is kingpin in charge... that could be really interesting. In the comics it's norman Osborn who leads the dark avengers, so kingpin and Osborn working together behind the scenes would be really cool to me since they're both spiderman villians.
Kingpin is definitely coming. They are making pretty similar references as they did in Daredevil, with the whole "He doesn't like attention." sorta thing.
I'm glad they finally address Clint's past. People kept saying he was mopey because of his time as Ronin. He killed people all the time as a shield agent.
There is a sign that says Fat Man Shop, which I believe is a reference to the Fat Man from the comics, a partner of Fisk. So their is a chance that the uncle could be him instead of Fisk, though It is more likely (and hopefully) The King Pin. Either way, The King Pin has to be somewhere down the road.
Clint had a sixth sense about Jack being in the apartment with the sword, so it's no surprise Yelena couldn't get the drop on Clint. As an assassin he is on par with the Black Widows.
someone else made the guess that yelena wasn't trying to kill clint but wanted confirmation or information of what actually happened since she could've just taken him out from so far away before he was even aware

Yep, watch is definitely tied to Laura. Has to be.
Here's a theory. Mockingbird's name was Bobbi Morse. Since they used that character in Agents of Shield, they had to come up with a different name for Clint's wife.
And she spoke german.
I was thinking of when Yelena would make a return at the beginning of this episode when I was watching it and 8:28 confirmed it for me 😂
This is the best Disney+ show already
the scene in which yelena threw kate off the building and clint thought he lost her was great, they brought back the same theme they used when natasha died
If you'd have told me the Hawkeye series would be my favourite Marvel show at the start of the year, I woulda laughed...
is it really your favorite so far?
@@Ange1Quintero yes the others were good but for me I’ve always like the more grounded approach rather super soldiers, Witches, Gods
@@crystaljones6248 true true. i really like the duo dynamic that’s been used in these series, like clint/kate, loki/mobius, loki/silvie, bucky/sam
Best review channel out! Love you two! Glad Jen is enjoying all this MCU content. Happy Holidays!
Yelena and Kate are definitely gonna be bffs. They both even have dogs :)
usually holden always tries to notice jennas or matts reaction to things, its different now that he hasnt seen hawkeye himself
“ best shot you ever took “
“ the one I didn’t take “
15 mins later she does the same thing!
Two things:
1. "The Shot You Don't Take" and it's usage here, was brilliant
2. During rewatching you will get to see all 4 people on the rooftop, pull back, when they are not facing someone they are going after (you get to see Yelena tether Kate to the roof, before throwing her off the roof)
It's the little things the MCU gets right, that make the biggest difference.
I mean, it's an available and useful tool. He doesn't have to _like_ it to use it. Practicality over pet peeves.
So many signs as Laura Barton being a shield agent or former “mockingbird”. Even back in Age of Ultron she tricked Tony into going into the barn to meet with Fury.
Loving Kate and Clint's chemistry. I can't wait to see what the future brings for them.
3:07 the sword was retractable in like episode 1 lmao
They come up with the whole story before filming anything, they would've known they needed it to be retractable
I think he means in comparison to Endgame, where we first see the sword. But I can't say for sure if it did or did not get retracted at some point in that! I don't think he's saying they changed it within the continuity of this 1 show, obviously they will have decided on something like that before all the filming :')
@@Wolfer1OOO ah gotcha! :)
My girl Florence is back!! That made my day :)
The first crossover of Netflix characters to MCU was actually Jarvis the butler of Howard Stark in endgame
He is not a netflix character. Agent carter was on ABC
I love this show and watching your reaction even more
Kingpin and Matt Murdock will be in the MCU within 1 week of eachother ! What a great way to end the year.
Technically 2 weeks, since we saw Kingpin last week and Matt will be next week.
But if you are talking about actually seeing the face and hearing the character... it will possibly even be the same day! Both next episode and NWH come out next Wednesday :O
Was Really hoping Jack and Hawkeye would give us some hint that they knew each other in at least one way, but still a great episode.
I was hoping they'd give us Hawkeyes circus origin
How would they know each other?
@@Thurrak in the comics, jack was Hawkeyes mentor, jack is the superhero/villain swordman
Yeah, I have a feeling they aren't going to use that history. Jack may even be a Red Herring.
Yeah i wonder how MCU Hawkeye got his initial start without swordsman and the circus. I guess maybe he still could’ve been in the circus
The Uncle's laugh definitely sounded like Vincent Donofrio's laugh, on top of that when Kazi signed "uncle" he actually singed WF.
9:15: so sad 😞 I love both of them so much.
It’s slower but full of character emotions. I dig films that really explore emotion and character psyche
The sword isn't retractable "all of the sudden", it was retractable the first time you see it in Endgame.
What do you mean that the sword being contractable is a plot convenience all of a sudden? It was like that in Episode 1, and I'm fairly certain it was like that in Endgame...
0:45 I thougt of this too! Glad that I am not the only one, currently watching daredevil I finished season 1 Yesterday.
Thank you Holden for the glorious content keep up the grind 🤙
“Avengers Level Threat” LMAO I love that they incorporated the Mysterio meme
I like the theory that not only is Laura a likely former SHIELD agent, but that she might be codename Mockingbird, and that the watch is engraved with a note that ties her to that role.
Everything Holden was saying when he realized it was Yelena is what was going through my mind when I watched this for the first time. I'm glad to have Holden's first viewing so I can at last relive the first time I see big MCU moments.
I love Holden's speculation on all the Final Destination ways that Kate could just randomly die during the episode.
On a side note, who would love to see the Larpers fight the Track Suit Mafia at some time lol?
I literally was just telling my buddies at church about the boomerang arrows conversation in the comic the show is partly inspired by. So when they had that conversation on the show I was pretty excited. This show is awesome!
This was my least anticipated show yet it’s somehow became my favorite
That was very obviously Vincent Donofrio’s laugh in episode 3. And in the comics Echo is Kingpin’s adoptive daughter so it’s not a long shot to say he’ll be in this series.
Hey, Holden and Jen! Natasha looms over this chapter. Here's my take on Episode 4:
What's been a marriage of inconvenience for Clint has been a dream come true for Kate but, in this episode, the bond becomes real.
Just found this channel a couple days ago and have watched all the My Girlfriend watches Marvel videos. You guys are great. Do you like horror shows at all? I think you'll really like the Mike Flanagan shows Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass on Netflix. Excellent writing, acting, and editing. They are my favorite shows. I look forward to watching more videos on your channel!! :D
Do yourself a favour and check out the 'My Friend Watches' series as well. Matt going through Marvel is entertaining!
They did an entire month of horror films last October and a few this past Oct. as well.
🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪
The way they used the Natasha death score from endgame was super powerful, both times
Bit off topic, but Jen’s hair is omg freaking luscious with all the curlssss
the whole discussion about boomerang arrows is straight from the comics, but it was actually reversed. in comics, Kate wasn't big on trick arrows and ragged on Clint for them, especially a boomerang arrow.
two issues later, she finds out just how useful a good boomerang arrow can be.
+nothingmusic42
I really hope that comes back around at the end of the season.
(9:07) take note, she was hired by none other than *_VALENTINA ALLEGRA DE FONTAINE_* from the Post Credit Scene of *BLACK WIDOW* and from *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier*
No, it's Wilson Fisk. Vincent D'onofrio.
That's his chuckle and alot of people can confirm it's Vincent D'onofrio.
So no, THAT IS Vincent D'onofrio.
Next week the king is back finally, Kingpin himself guys
Yelena is back!! I love Florence Pugh 😂 I’m liking Hawkeye so far tho. I can’t wait to see what happens next
Just imagine if Jack said "you're sparrow?!"
I think why yelena didn’t kill him so easily is because she wants revenge and she wants to know why. Because if you think about it, yelena is a trained assassin. She could have killed him without even him knowing it.
Did anyone else catch that the theme that was playing when Clint was talking to Kate about Natasha was the Vormir music from Infinity war and Endgame?
Nice, I really think they should have a Hawkeye/ant man series.
Jen, you have a smiley face on your thumb at 10:02 xD
I loved D’Onofrio’s congrats tweet to Charlie Cox! Troll lvl = Master (unlike Anakin).
Fisk is her adopted father in comics. Echo/Maya is a daredevil villain/antihero
Loki: What was your nexus event??
Holden: I put "fiance" in the title instead.
The sword was retractable since the first episode.
Loving this show. This is my favorite episode so far
Love watching the two of you and your reactions keep up the great work y'all.
If u couldn't tell because some fans didn't notice but Clint fired/cut Kate loose is because when she fell and was hanging it reminded him of Black Widows death and doesn't want to see it happen to her
I know you mentioned that Hailee Steinfeld voiced Gwen Stacy in the last episode, but she voices Vi in Arcane on Netflix too. Have you thought about checking that out?
To be clear for Jen or Holden to not be confused, if we see Fisk or Daredevil then it won't be the same ones but Variants as Loki showed us
@Jaylin Lugo this isn’t true.
It’s the same character, same actor, same past experiences, but it’s their (Disney’s) “fresh start” so to speak. Variants is definitely a possibility but the TRUTH is that none of us really know yet. Only Kevin Feige does
A collapsible sword is more than possible in a world where there is nano tech where armoured suits can appear out of the palm of your hand and men can shrink to the size of ants 😂
You do forget sometimes because this series is so grounded that this is part of the MCU.
If Jen finds Clint in her dining room, she'll go "You're Sparrow!"
Holden, how much time does Jen spend doing her hair for these videos? Her hair is PERFECT in this video. I hope you appreciate all the time and work she puts into looking beautiful for your videos.
Jen is going to spend the rest of her life watching movies and Holden could be more pleased with himself about it.
I love how Jen keeps up on info on marvel
You guys should react to the old school Batman’s like Batman, Batman forever, Batman and robin, Batman returns.
I love the detail of Yelena attaching that grappling hook to Kate before she threw her off the roof. Yelena isn't there for Kate, she didn't want to hurt her, she just wanted her out of the way.
When you realized that Jen is officially all caught up with the MCU
I think they added the retractable blade because, as the same with the bow, is easier to transport.
The sword was always retractable in this series since the beginning episodes. So no. It isn't a convenient plot device for episode 4.
Loved this one
Anyone else notice they played the end game song when Widow sacrificed herself when Hawkeye was talking about her to Kate?
The grumpy cat sweater is a reference to a meme comparing Jeremy Renner to the actual Grumpy Cat. It's a hilarious but if self-awareness
jack is definitely maya's uncle they have the same suit from what little we saw from him
The watch could be Laura’s as they are hinting she is an ex-agent of shield…could be retconning her to be a retired Mockingbird
