Hi Matt. After getting proficient with the single handed spins, I tried placing my hand closer to the end of the stick (the short end of the stick touches my armpit, with arm extended). I can now get some awesome speed with the long end and can really hear those air molecules complaining! The reverse spin (pinky leading) feels safest in terms of not hitting my shins or ankles. I don't ever want that to happen. Not at these speeds. Mass x Velocity squared can do some real damage, especially the velocity squared part! Took my first lesson from you 9 months ago. Thank you!
C Smith haha that brought me back to my Parris Island days. I never dropped my rifle though! I think all the weapons training growing up gave me a huge advantage in the Marine Corps!
Thank you. My group uses a "Jo". They are shorter, from the height of your armpit to one fist below, and not tapered. Handy in a tight space. I'll try your technics.
Awesome! The Jo is my absolute favorite staff! I have one made by Bujin designs in Colorado out of white oak. It has been my hiking companion over twenty five years! Have you seen any of my jo tutorials or workouts? I’m not the best, but I am very passionate about the Jo too!

Anyway I want to learn this to discipline myself along with gaining more dexterity from the physical exercise it demands plus, it just looks cooler than heck! You have a new subscriber here and, you have already earned my respect! At my age I'm not really interested in the fighting aspect of the martial arts anymore but, more for the mental and physical conditioning. Thank you for taking your valuable time to show a complete beginner where to begin and also fueling my interest in learning how to handle a staff. Who knows what path or how far this may lead me. I do know I would rather be called a grasshopper than a dung beetle, lol.
Fantastic. Thanks for your kind comments. It’s never too late and now is always the best time to start. Thanks for subscribing and I will upload a new one for you soon. Keep training!
Nice
MS Dhoni thank you very much!
Excellent introduction. I just bought a bo staff on ebay made of oak. Will watch your videos to get started. Thanks.
Awesome. Is it heavy?
@@pasquinilli I have not received it in the mail yet. And unfortunately, I love oak hardwood, so I imagine it will be rather heavy.
When he speed up
It's look like the stick is footing around him
It sometimes feels like that too! Thank you!
@@pasquinilli Welcome 😊😊
Thank you!
Wow! So fantastic! Please keep me updated. Anything new you are trying to learn or improve? Keep training!!
Grandma didn't stand ccx a chance
Not a chance!
Naw mine still be beating me up
The pros of a staff is that it has more reach than a sword. Good demonstration!
Thank you. Great point!! Keep training!
For this every time I messed up I do 5 push-ups...
(I've done 50 push-ups today.... xD)
Haha! That’s awesome!!
10 for every drop...my dojo... Lol

Saying Bo-staff is basacly you saying staff-staff.
(Bo is staff in japanese)
Thanks!
I asked google but he says that bo is tomb or grave, so where is the truth?
