  • After last week's destructive Jell-O spinning session, the cotton candy heads on our Vivo and Vortex machines were both non-operational. Since the more traditional water and scrub brush technique were not effective we ended up with a more abrasive solution. This is not your average cleaning, but if you every get into such a sticky situation this is sure to help you out.
    Check out the video below to see what happens when you spin Jell-O in your cotton candy machine: • 4.5 Sweeteners That Do...

    I am curious… My machine says to never remove the head to clean it that way. Is it safe to clean it the way you are doing it? Why do they not want us to remove it ? I have the same machine.

    Love all the helpful information contained in all your videos ! Could you please do a video that might help newbies that might be looking at purchasing a used machine ? What to stay away from or don't worry if this doesn't work it's a quick fix that won't break the bank .. thanks in advance

      Absolutely! I will get one out in the next few weeks on this! I was literally thinking I needed to do a video on this about 12 hours before your comment! Ha!

    Hi, great video! Question... is the outside of the machine also aluminum? Metal? I don't like the pink color on the machine... do you know if you can spray paint the outside? Would paint stick? I would be worried about getting paint on the mechanics or inside of machine but I guess that can be minimized with prep like tape etc.

      @spunparadise8823  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can absolutely paint the machine. I have painted a ton of them white. Take the head out like I do in this video, put tape over the hole and paint away.

    Hi! What happens if you rub the edges too much? Why would that effect the machine? Also, am I able to rub the middle down with water and steel wool after every catering event/farmers market to try to avoid that build up? Will it hurt the machine and is it ok to go over the edges as well?

    • @spunparadise8823
      @spunparadise8823  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So if the edge gets worn too much, then the gap between the head and the top piece you are removing to clean will get too big and sugar will just fly out the side of the head instead of melting in the head and turning into cotton candy. Hope that makes sense. Yes, you can rub the middle down with steel wool and water.

    • @BeckiCooper
      @BeckiCooper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spunparadise8823 got it, so then rubbing the edges with just steel wool and water after every use wont' hurt it i'm assuming!

    This was so helpful Thankyou! Any advice on why a vivo machine would cause brown spots on my fairy floss, it's burning the sugar I assume but not sure why? My thoughts were the head wasn't clean enough but after watching this ...haha Thankyou!

    • @spunparadise8823
      @spunparadise8823  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is most likely the head wasn't clean enough. Thanks!

    Vivo says you can take the top off and soak it in vinegar, but have you ever just poured a bit of vinegar in (while cold and off) and let it soak?

    • @spunparadise8823
      @spunparadise8823  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I have tried. I have been unsuccessful with vinegar cleaning our machines.

    • @spunparadise8823
      @spunparadise8823  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't used one, but they are a higher output commercial style machine, so I imagine it works well.

    Please tell me about temperature of the machine...

    • @spunparadise8823
      @spunparadise8823  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no separate temperature controls on this machine. If you are looking to control or adjust the temperature you will need a commercial grade machine like a Gold Medal Whirlwind.

    What if I already used oven cleaner on the head?

    • @spunparadise8823

      I would recommend cleaning it really well. Letting it heat for a long time without anything in it to burn off possible residue as well.

    • @spunparadise8823

      It's the type of machine. This type of machine is a verticle release head, other machine types have horizontal release like the machine you are describing you have.

    Does anyone know how to get really bad burnt on sugar off the sides of the head? I bought a 2nd hand fairy floss machine today (not knowing much about them 🙄😔). The the lady showed me that it worked and how to use it before I bought it and everything seemed fine. I didn't even think to look for a layer of burnt on sugar. I just thought the head was black 🤦. It needed a clean after we used it, but she asked me to clean it when I got home.... And, well, Now I know why. 🤦 The black burnt sugar on several patches of the side are a couple of mm's thick. I can't afford a new head. I bought the machine as a small start up for my son. Can anyone help please? 🥺 I have a drill can I use the wire brush on the sides or will that harm the internal brushes/bushes (what ever they are called)?
