RIP Mr Joe Bookman (Philip Baker Hall)
One of the most memorable characters and funniest bits in the series.
Last role he had to audition for. After this, everybody knew who he was and it opened countless doors. That's how powerful Seinfeld was, and his performance too.

This man just died 2 months ago, June 12th, 2022. RIP. This was an amazing performance, reminds me of leslie neilson in naked gun playing a detective.

Bookman appeared in one scene and he still managed to become one of the most iconic Seinfeld characters
He was in at least 3 scenes, Jerry's apartment, at the library when Kramer and the girl were there after it closed, and in the library at the end when Jerry gave him the check.

Mr Bookman, the library cop, is hands-down my favorite Seinfeld guest character. No matter how many times I watch this episode it still cracks me up. His acting is just superb! ❤😂

Third time I've watched this after Philip Baker Hall, aka Mr. Bookman, died back in June, 2022 and it never gets stale or old. His amazing monologue calling Jerry all sorts of names is hilarious. I got a flash for you joy boy, if Dragnet's Joe Friday ever had a twin brother, it would be Mr. Bookman.

This is such great comedy. You can see Jerry trying not to laugh throughout the entire encounter with Bookman.
Even at around the 3:45 mark, the actor playing Bookman is clearly trying not to break character.

When Bookman says, "you think this is funny?", I have a feeling that was an ab libbed line to cover up Jerry's smiling.

It never ceased to amaze me how actors were so talented and the writing was so good that they could only appear in only one scene and become Seinfeld and TV icons. Mr. Bookman, "Timmy Double Dip", The rental car desk lady, Elaine's Father, the list is endless....

But Puddy was the most BORING character ever in a sit-com, perhaps. Just BORING. Every time he appears on the screen and opens his mouth - I have to fight sleep. Even his voice is boring. No comedic timing, never says anything remotely funny - and no chemistry or believability with Elaine.

This to me is possibly the funniest character ever to appear on the show and I include the regular cast in that. He was brilliant. He didn’t break character even when Jerry was about to lose it right in front of his face.

It seems very unlikely, but our family physician when I was growing up was Dr. Lancet, and the secretary at the high school I attended was Miss Carbon.

Larry Charles actually wrote it but he was in tune with the Larry David universe, he knew what buttons to push.

It's a parody of a 60s police drama called Dragnet, which often did dialogue scenes like this.
@@hugolafhugolafI had either read or heard that it was one take. The only "mistake" was Bookman using the word, "flaunting" conventions. "Flouting" would make more sense in the context.

You know people say they can only imagine a certain actor playing an iconic role. This man could have played Principal Strickland in Back To The Future even better than the original
