      Yeah, it's pretty rough. Even a jailbroken PS Vita streaming games via Moonlight (especially with additional capacitive triggers for R2/L2 and R3/L3) is significantly more impressive than this abomination.
      That said, I do like what they're attempting to do. The quality and range needs to be improved quite significantly before it would become a worthwhile product, however.

    Just an FYI on the speaker; the mid-range driver is on the front too, behind the tweeter. The one on the back side is not actually a driver, it's a passive radiator; it will simply move back and forth (similar to a low-range speaker or subwoofer) with the frequency the rest of the unit is making, which helps amplify the low-end. It's not powered and has no coil/magnet. Often used on better-quality bluetooth speakers and space-constrained subwoofers.

If it were priced reasonably, I wouldn't mind picking one up to play Skyrim or something while laying in bed (my PC is on the other side of my bedroom). The PeakDo thing reminds me of a prototype laptop that passed through work; I was responsible for selling it on e-bay and it was one hell of a thing to even describe, I think there was one English word on the casing somewhere (It was "Aladdin" or something similarly evocative and useless as a search string), several numbers corresponding to nothing, and a few labels in an Oriental language I do not read, but they were clearly just inspection tags. I eventually ended up using information from the BIOS, as it did actually _work_ and thus I was able to confirm it was a prototype thanks to the giant "NOT FOR PRODUCTION" warning in the said BIOS. It was in every way otherwise an unremarkable device quite like its contemporaries in form and capacities, so I know nothing further.

    I bought the Orion while it was crowd funded. It works OK. It definitely helps my old eyes. The screen has pretty flat color though. I think it's slightly damaged own of my joy-cons. It doesn't physically connect to any pins other than power when it's mounted on the switch.

    I like the concept behind the home streaming screen, if not the execution. Though I have an Ayn Odin which basically does that but better.

    That Peak-Do Switch thingy is a really cool idea, not very practical, but a cool idea none the less. The main problem is that I already have a Switch and a Steam Deck, so I don't know that I would ever use something like this. I don't need to stream what is already portable and the streaming range isn't long enough to be worth it. A stand alone laptop shell would work better. I have seen laptop shells that connect via usb and have a keyboard and track pad. Put a bluetooth/usb dongle keyboard and track pad combo with a wireless HDMI screen in one package and it would be a dream come true for certain tech jobs where you have to connect to many computers. You could take your whole set up wherever you needed to be and connect without getting involved in the mess of cables, do what you need to do, than unplug your usb and HDMI dongles and go to the next one.

    Assuming Peak Do sent you their low end HDMI thingy, it's only got a range of about 12ft
    They do seem to have a 100ft model though.
    It's a shame the whole kit doesn't exist I could use something like that (although it's probably more expensive than a steam deck

    I actually kinda like that Orion screen thing for the Switch. I already have aftermarket joycons like the ones on the Peak-Do (they're great btw), so having a big handheld isn't foreign to me. Basically it can be like a Switch tablet.

    I don't know why but I want that silver pomadaro timer. Maybe like for BBQ, like set the 5 minute timer and then flip when it goes off or something.

  • @mercflf8
    @mercflf8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    the bluetooth speaker looks cool if your into that style...i can also see the timers being useful and are way better than the old school dial type timer that just made a ''ding'' sound when time was up

    • @littlelemonaide4223
      @littlelemonaide4223 ปีที่แล้ว

      They actually have some better dial timers out there! Mine's a deathstar and makes the sound of it firing when time is up. But I can see the tick timer being useful in certain cases. Definitely seems better for cooking where you often need more precise timing
      Though, for daily use that's less reliant on 100% precision, like the pomodoro technique, it seems easier to just use a dial timer since it doesn't require frequent charging

  • @leefamily5986
    @leefamily5986 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Orion is pretty picky over the battery pack / cable used to power it. A battery pack with USB C to USB C and fast charging normally does the trick. Many had this issue on launch (IndieGoGo launch) as they didn't specify any of this. I have one and use an Anker 20w USB c-c output and never had a connection issue.

    The peakdo handheld would actually be really cool, but if it costs about the same as a steamdeck it won't really make sense for most applications.

    Linus reviewed the peakdo hdmi receiver a year ago, I'm guessing they are just trying different implementations and the handheld is just a prototype. I must say they got 25m of (unobstructed) range so maybe it will be better in the future.
