Everyday that goes by I learn to appreciate consoles more.
I have a fully built gaming PC that was a pain in the ass to find all the parts I wanted for, and get to post and have all my drivers updated constantly.
I can appreciate the simplicity that is just picking up an Xbox or playstation, pressing the power button and playing immediately and all games are properly optimized. Even though it's 60fps I don't mind.

    RE: the MiniPC thing.
What to remember is, like you said in the video, it's basically a laptop in a box. Depending on cooling etc it might perform better but overall, it's a laptop in a box.
I picked up a GEEKOM Mini IT12 w/ an i7 and couldn't be happier with it for a Blu-Ray ripping, emailing, web browsing, TH-cam watching, Moonlight Game Streaming super box.
Local gaming on it, with the "amazing" Intel Iris? Yeah... there is a reason I use Moonlight from my primary gaming rig.
Of course, I bought this before I saw companies like Minisforum were selling AMD models with what is recognized as just under GTX 1050ish levels of graphic capability. When this machine needs to be replaced, I am fairly confident that is the route I would go.
I too was mesmerized by that ridiculous one with the crazy power button but went more traditional instead since I wanted to hide it behind my monitor anyway. lol
Enjoy your vacation Dawid! And thanks for giving me some giggles, smiles, and laughs.

I just went through this hell hole of a mine field by building my own. The last one I built over 10 years ago is still running perfectly fine. It turned out to be such a good investment I don't even consider buying someone else's overpriced crap box. I’m running an I9-11900k and an RX 7900XT, with 32gb of ddr4 3200mhz, a 1tb NVME boot drive, and a 1tb Sata SSD for additional storage, powered by a Seasonic 1250w gold power supply. A few months back I bought a PC off of Aliexpress, one of those that is sort of a NAS but sort of a PC too.... I wanted it to put Ubuntu server on to test things locally without needing a remote server. Neat thing, round thing "Topton 2-Bay NAS N1 PRO AMD Ryzen 5 5500U" for a reasonable amount of local toilet paper. Holds two full size hard drives (if you want to NAS with it) and two M.2 drive slots. Came with windows on it. You can put NAS software on it, you can put Ubuntu (I did, easily) or run it under windows to just share drives. Neat little thing, absolutely cannot be upgraded but cool as hell. Aliexpress is my place to go for all sorts of stupid things, if you can think of it someone probably has it there.

The old Alienware has an nForce 680i SLI motherboard. Which was pretty high end for the time. It also offers a lot of features in terms of CPU overclocking and RAM settings, and other gadgets. Which wasn't standard at the time, but can be found on almost every motherboard today.
The motherboard is very difficult to find these days and is probably worth $150 - $200 on its own.
The right motherboard for a high-end retro PC.

Some of them omit the model number all together. I was looking at a few and they just say i7 or i5, but nowhere on the page is any info on what generation it is. This makes it even more difficult for solo builders like myself to sell custom builds. Someone thinks that the $300 PC is the same as the $800 system I will quote them for. They have even said well this one has an i7. They think you are trying to get one over on them when in actuality you are trying to help them. I am glad you made this video.

Great videos, I’ve learnt a lot. I love seeing you upgrade components to make the PCs run better. What I’d like to see is a video where you use the same latest graphics card ( 4060 or 3070 for example) then use the same power supply and ram. But start off strong with the suitable CPU/mobo then test it with every second intel gen and mobo going backwards till the performance is terrible and or beyond. For example, use a 12400, then 10400, then 8400. Or the XX500 or XX700 series CPUs. Everyone seems to think we always need the latest gear. But your proven sometimes one component upgrade is all you need. Thanks for the content.

It was the last 3080 they had and after that they didn't have 3080's for 6 months+ and no where else online had them either. If I wanted to get everything separate and build it myself I was looking at like 3k. The price I paid entirely for my pc was what people were trying to sell just the 3080 alone! My pc runs any game so far perfect and I've only need to upgrade the RAM. Might upgrade the CPU down the line, but it's done me good 👌 can't imagine trying to get a pc now in the current climate.

The optiplex I think is a bit of a scourge on the budget gaming PC market, there's a ton of them out there, they're cheap, but the worst part is they actually look decent... Like if I wanted to build a PC on the cheap the optiplex is a trap, the diamonds in the rough are retired workstations, HP Z440, Dell Precision 7810, Lenovo Thinkstation P500; these are all haswell so we're looking at IPC like the 4th gen optiplexs, but with workstations you more often get some GPU power connections so you're not limited to a 1650 at absolute best... Heck I'm seeing Thinkstation P520s under $200 US which will get you a Skylake xeon on LGA 2066 and should have GPU power connectors.
For under $400 US you might be able to get your hands on a workstation with a skylake xeon, and an RTX 2060 or if you prefer an older higher class card like a 1080. You give up the IPC of a new system sure, but what else do you give up? Core count? nah, how many you want, 10, 12, 18 not a problem. Memory performance? I mean it's DDR4 ECC so the speeds probably aren't ripping fast but you've got 4 memory channels, so even at the slowest 2133 MT/s that's 2133x4, which sounds a whole lot like 4266x2 to me. GPU support? I mean there might need to be proprietary cables or possibly a proprietary PSU swap with some models of workstation but it was planned from the outset for these to have GPUs, in fact it's a requirement.

i really thought you were just fooling around on this channel but you actually know way more than i thought i would never guess the cpu/gpu in that alienware machine

Hey Dawid, RS 232 is a serial port. So it is incompatible with VGA.

That little PC from Ali Express with that i9 12900H and 3050 TI would be cool to check out!

Don't buy the Flexpai folding phone! It's four years old, I checked it out on MWC 2019 and already then it was very bad - hardware and software. But looking forward to the green Alienware PC!

That Dellienware would be sick with the qx600 from the same gen. I had that cpu with 2 8800gtxs in sli back in the day and it was boss for its time.

RS232 is a parallel port and has nothing to do with video output.

Cheap out the Toposh 7in mini laptop. Very oddball, and kind of a pain to get Linux working on, but fantastic form factor. I love mine after all that work. Far better battery life compare to windows as well

For 600CAD you could, could...find a notebook with a GTX1660Ti, 2060,3050...Yes it's mobile and not a desktop but still. Without a lot of moving parts these days all a notebook needs is adequate cooling and they'll work for a long while.

I bought an r9 7940hs mini pc by GMKtec recently. It seems to me that it doesn’t have adequate cooling for gaming. I ended up drilling a bunch of holes in the top cover to stop ram and ssd from overheating lol. I use it mostly for work (spreadsheets and python scripts) and it’s completely fine for that.
