    We wrote these plans
    Took the order the architecture
    And followed them to the end
    Until the gears ground cold and relentless
    There was no remorse
    We had none
    We kept on
    With no trace of a regret
    I never saw any blood
    No soul for the body
    Watch them turn her scab covered skin into stone
    Like a coal in the sky
    Searching for the dawn for the last time
    Bloated with white eyes wide
    We've come to an understanding
    You lose, I profit

      Dick Dickerson it was the first song they did on this album from what ive read. I consider this to be THE Dillinger album. Their Dark Side of The Moon. Pretty much every song rocks, and they hadnt sold out even a little bit. I like the later, more melodic stuff too, but this is like the perfect balance. Heavy but coherent (vs calculating infinity and say, One of Us)

For me, I like evryone of there songs but it takes a really pissed off mood for me to listen to these guys and its usually very cathartic and meditative when I do. these guys make absolute magic and singing and having melodic vocals is not selling out. I'm not sure why, but I totally ignored all the albums after Miss Machine. At release I remember thinking Miss Machine was just "OK". I think I was turned off by Greg's vocals and I thought the band was going in a direction that I wasn't 100% on board with. I guess I just wanted Calculating Infinity part 2. Forgive me;.I was just 19 years old and mostly retarded. Nearly 2 decades have past and my sensibilities have broadened. Fortunately I'm rediscovering these guys and I'm realizing how fucking great this album is. I regret dismissing the band for so many years. However, there is a silver lining: I get to explore and bask in the greatness of 4 DEP albums I've never heard. I'm stoked!

    You guys got it right. This is TDEP's magnum opus. The sheer intensity and beauty found is unmatched, even though Ire Works holds a worthy #2 spot. For those of us who experienced the agony/heartbreak at the hands of a MM - how you and her laughed when you first saw each other, to the end of every rainbow (and possibly tied ankles to the railroad) - the (lyrical) concept definitely hits home. Also Chris Pennie is and was their best stickman.

    • @brandonharris9160
      @brandonharris9160 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Billy Rymer could play ANYTHING Chris Pennie could and much more. Gil Sharone was amazing as well.

    • @MarcusHCrawford
      @MarcusHCrawford 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Billy Rhymer is sick, guys, no one denied that. But there was just something so tight, yet sloppy about Chris. I can’t explain it. The drums for Billy may have had too much reverb or something to make them sound larger, but Chris just felt tighter…like a true machine. Perfect for Miss Machine.

    After Irony is a Dead Scene with Mike Patton, I was expecting something totally incredible and hopefully with Mike Patton returning on vocals. However when this was released, I was totally turned off at first listens that Greg was trying too hard to sound like Mike Patton, so I gave up on DEP. Especially after Chris Pennie and Brian Benoit left the band, I really didn't want to hear anything by DEP and gave up completely on them. Well, coming back 13 years later I don't think that was a fair assessment back then in 2004, and this is actually really awesome! The music is very reminiscent to Calculating Infinity, and the drumming and guitar is legendary Pennie and Benoit goodness.

    • @xxxaragon
      @xxxaragon 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      similar here. I was disappointed in the Patton collaboration EP and sad that the new songs didn't have the same kind of manic energy to them as the old ones did (and the band trying out things they hadn't before).
      looking back I don't even really understand how I came to my conclusion back then, because while I still feel there is a significant difference (and think that "Calculating Infinity" is the best record they made), this is still freaking incredible.

    Coming here with the only song I know by them being Unretrofied I did not expect the rest of their songs to sound like they do. Not to say that they're bad - just unexpected lol. I found Unretrofied from the Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 game.
