Lionel Messi played the closing half-hour of his Inter Miami team’s game against Vissel Kobe in Japan on February 7, 2024. His attendance further fuelled anger among fans in Hong Kong. Just three days before, Messi sat out the highly anticipated game in the city, citing an adductor injury.

The no-show due to injuries is not the main issue here. What's more concerning is zero communication with Hong Kong fans, avoiding the post-game ceremony and maintaining a poker face throughout the entire time, which closed the door to everyone in China. The level of disrespect shown is unparalleled.
It happens that in this video many people show how flaw your logic to blame Messi and not the promotor. So you guys change your argument into Messi no show. Obviously your "edited comment" sure make it suspicious. LOL
@@MudThought they're ALL to blame Messi's messy affair above all else. The dude didn't even smile, wave at the crowd,, sign any autographs, or even a single handshake to anyone not even with the city's leader. ALL indicating of this intentional snub at HK for all to witness.
There's multiple arguments @@MudThought
@@MudThoughtFunny how your name has "thought" in it yet you didn't seem to use your brain when writing this comment.
He don’t owe you a living
Why 40,000 HK fans are upset(mad) in a nutshell :
HK: Would you mind to play for just 10 mins?
Messi: Nope, i am injuried.
HK: OK.... how about walk around the field and wave to your fans after the match?
Messi: Nope.
HK: How about receiving the trophy on behalf the team?
Messi: Nope.
HK: Perhaps you can say a few words?
Messi: Nope.
HK: Shake a hand?
Messi: Nope. (hid behind when taking team photo, and walked away with a sulking face)
(Next day in Japan)
- solo press conference for like 30 mins
- played in training seamlessly
- played in the match for 30 mins, running, passing, shooting

Desphite Messi injury, he could still wave at the audience and interact with his fans. In fact he did not confront his fans and showed no respect to Hong Kong. He didn't even laugh the entire time during his stay in Hong Kong. He has let Hong Kong fans down and in my humble option, he should shoulder some responsibility as he really had the say whether or not he wanted to play ( come on look at his salary per year). It would surely be a remarkable lesson for Hong Kong fans and citizens to learn if we are too obsessed with Messi, but the costly reality told us Messi just doesn't deserve such an honor
He is a footballer not a show pony....if he's injured he's not gonna play .his team and the medical staff decides that ....touch grass you fools he doesn't owe us nothing...if you enjoy watching him watch him if you don't .. don't.

Players play for fans; the whole industry is based on fans. The NO1 priority of an athlete's profession is to play wonderful games and entertain fans who pay. If you confuse yourself with priorities, you lose your work ethic.

For Chinese football fans born in the 1970s and 1980s, most of them support three teams: Italy, Germany, and Argentina. Chinese fans have never hidden their admiration and fondness for Messi. However, all of this has vanished into thin air. It's baffling why Messi displays such excessive arrogance and rudeness towards those who adore him. Is it because you're unhappy with your own immense popularity at this late stage of your career?

Japan probably is a tough opponent. After all, Japan was participating in the World Cup
I believe Messi isn't the one who should get the most hate. The organisers who advertised him that much and the officials who irritated the team should get the hate
He is complicit obviously. He should swallow that. Cheater
they all broke the agreement
They clearly scammed
Watching mr big , the aristocrats or any rock band , fusion for 14 usd or buying a bass for learning music are worth more than this " friendly match " .
He basically scammed hongkong fans and took the money. How disgusting.
Messi admitted himself stating in a press conference that his MRI scan showed no injury, but he still did not play because he was not so sure of it himself. That's however not a legit medical reason not to play. His contract said he should play when there is no valid proof of injury. After just a few days he did play in Japan, so that is enough proof he had no injury. So Messi basically broke contract and can be sued for it.
Shame on the club manager, the people who help facilitate it and the worse shame go to the player himself. Being recognize as a star with foreign fans, a normal goodwill gesture couldn't even be bothered, such arrogance and ignorance
Messi needs more money to save Argentina - Don't Cry For Me, I need More Money (By the way, Messi is now way passed his prime or shelf-by date)
Messi is following his president, Javier Milei, in snubbing and insulting the Chinese anyway he can.
It’s really messy what he did

Hmmmm, if it is a fake injury, it will go away whenever u want
Just make a refund, how hard can that be. The club is so freaking rich that this is just a dent.
This could be "that moment" where Chinese youth and CSL (ruined by corruption/game fixing) acknowledge they need to up their game and be world leading and stop "looking up to" of others and be the next stars who are "looked up to" by others. Football is one of the sports that play to the advantage of Chinese physique and is a disadvantage to be big/huge.
“Sorry, Hong Kong.” That was personal
It never worth paying ticket to see celebrity who will never know u exist
No matter the reason for his action in HK was the pressure from the club boss or US government.
Or simply his dislike of China.
Hope it's worth the Chinese market he's going to lose.
why bring the US government in the picture. It neither owned the team nor organized the event. Seems like you are towing the Communist party line
If he doesn’t want to play, then dont f*** come here to earn money and then fool the locals
Looking at the bright side of this, HKers are finally united about something. It’s been awhile since.
Fraudsters strike in Hong Kong. In the past, they also cheated Indonesians.
Yes, the government clearly mishandled, the organizer is definitely a scammer..... However, all these still don't justify Messi's 99.9999% faked injury (please don't tell me groin injury can heal in two days), cold treatment of fans, refusal to communicate...... after pocketing the money. All these things are not mutually exclusive
Why people fell as if they are entitled to give a call in the way a player plays, just because they bought a ticket?
The thing is entirely on the Advertisement team and not on the players. They have their own tactics in which some are completely normal to Spare your best player in the easy games.
