Trawled through the comments, only two songs really missing. Tracklist: 0:29 - Flying Lotus - Tea Leaf Dancer (feat. Andreya Triana) 1:31 - XXYYXX - About You 2:29 - Tor Cesay - The Perch (Ft Flying Lotus, Oddisee & Phonte Coleman) 3:26 ??? 3:52 ??? 4:25 - Yosi Horikawa & Dorian Concept - Red Sound (on soundcloud not youtube) 6:24 - XXYYXX - About You. That's as good as I can do. If anyone knows the last 2 tracks please update this tracklist please.
I love how the hip hop goes in different direction through the years. It never dies, maybe just faints for some short time and then it lifts up with a whole new mask but there's still the same guy behind it an he's good!
Best hashtags episode so far. The artists interviewed seemed more 'switched on' than those interviewed in the other episodes up to now. It's important that artists who share a similar aesthetic have a keen sense of self awareness surrounding what it means to be part of their 'scene' so that the sound doesn't become a caricature of itself and go stale. I think that's probably the reason why despite inspiring a shedload of similar producers, FlyLo's older material still sounds fresh today.
And just for the record, The Gaslamp Killer is MENTAL live! Such amazing tunes and he goes so hard it's super contagious. He's the guy with the crazy fro in this vid goin nuts
I made a Spotify playlist with songs from a few of the artist from all of the H∆SHTAG$ series. Check it out at: open.spotify.com/user/hulqen/playlist/1JjyO4AEYetFMdR3pk86cf
It's nice to see how positive the "beat scene" artists are about the silly genre label, and how they strive to make their music unique. It's just impossible to label them under one genre name; hell "beats" is actually better than "instrumental hip-hop" for that matter.
Don't even start to list who should have been in the episode or not since the movement brought us too many good artists then to limit them on just a few. I think RedBullMusic did a great job even covering this movement, how many other places do you see trying to showcase this music in this way? Thank you RedBull, Great Job! And lets not hate, instead support and keep growing this movement! -ART AVE facebook /art0ave
Hell yeah, I'd love that. Also, if they managed to get FlyLo on the show, they should hopefully have no problem getting Purity Ring. That'd be amazing.
If you want to sample any sort of movie or scene from something it's a decent method. Qualities not going to be amazing, but little samples don't need to be.
idk if witch-house is still active? It kinda seems like it's already turned into some other stuff, like vapor and stuff like what Sean Kemp is doing now.
lol, even flylo's music is instrumental hip hop, and clams casino's beats have a trap similarity shlohmo's. but I agree with you tho, he'd fit more in the cloud rap episode
we need more of this series

beat scene has exploded. I just love instrumental music in general.
Who is H∆SHTAG$ run by? I see it's posted by Redbull, but I'm trying to reach the people behind the documentary.
