Just discovered this series, fantastic stuff. I grew up on rock, punk and metal in the late 90s-2000s and kind of fell into electronic music from the top down. I make experimental electronic stuff now but there's so much history to it that I haven't delved into yet. Really fascinated with the way these genres and cultures evolve.
Such an excellently put together piece. It is so hard to see Dance music talked about & have it not feel like someone just let off a cringe grenade but this video nails it & really shows the talent in this non-scene scene.
I am excited to see where this genre of postdubstep goes. I feel like the whole EDM movement is such an opportunity for artists to explore and create unfathomable tunes. cheers to dubstep!

All of these young cats are pushing electronic music further than it has gone in the last 10 years. Love it, and I'll keep spreading it as much as possible!
"Chronology" here being the cycle of roughly 15 years, where the late 90s UK 2Step/Garage/Speed Garage stuff is reborn and mangled with '00s House tunes.
bigbezet As a matter of fact it's not that far from Burial's tunes, the 2 step kick pattern, the pads, the processing.. the BPM is a little faster and the harmonies are a little more complex in a certain way.. and also that's the reason I suggested it could be a remix.. Listen to the track "Homeless" from Burial's Untrue 2007 from 0:20 on.. it's a very similar vocal melody.. ;D Thank you for the accurate information!
The guy in the you-tube clip is a top UK underground Dj. (Dj Paz / Eden moore) He's top, really wen you have the chance lissen to his mixes online. Greetz Dj Bensh

Or when the genre actually starts having some creativity. Of course until the metal community gets a hold of the post term. They just think it means slow and atmospheric.
Never heard anyone call it post dubstep before.. always thought it was experimental (in terms of mount kimbie). Why the genre craze anyway? All great art movements were given a name after their time right? You never really know what or how it'll be defined until we move to the next movement, or we start to leak into a new perspective? Just my two cents.

What's the song at 0:38? Sounds like a burial remix.
A Burial remix? Sounds nothing like Burial... You need to listen to more UK Garage :) Anyway that's "Broke One & Xavier León - One Hour Later", enjoy!
bigbezet As a matter of fact it's not that far from Burial's tunes, the 2 step kick pattern, the pads, the processing.. the BPM is a little faster and the harmonies are a little more complex in a certain way.. and also that's the reason I suggested it could be a remix..
