I don't think anyone makes gear as well as Yamaha. Just got my AW 16G out of an old rat infested storage shed where it sat for 12 years in temps ranging from 0 to 110 degrees. Plugged it in and voila all working like new. Still displaying the songs I had worked on all those years back. Bravo Yamaha!
Rad! Any clue how to help me with my question above? It is driving me crazy The manual is not clear how to make effects assignable to EACH track simultaneously. Thanks!
@@paulwhiting1731 Thank you -- I am quite acclimated with it - but for the love of God I am baffled by how my settings changed and how to SEND effects to all channels, even if it is only 2 EFX. Godspeed, and keep on truckin' 😀
@@superdoov I just bought one at a thrift store for 20 bucks. Coincidentally, it had had a mouse nest in it and had urine and droppings all over it. I sat up all night taking it apart cleaning it inside and out with compressed air, electronic cleaner, and The outside casing with vinegar. Amazingly the thing seems to be working. Although I haven’t recorded anything yet. Usually to get an effect across all the tracks, you add it to the master stereo track. I’m going to be experimenting with the recorder today and will revisit if I learn anything helpful.
Many Memory and Mic Inputs. The 16g Mark 1 has 16g memory and 2mic inputs. The Mark 2 has 8mic Inputs and maybe more memory. There is a 2400 something verison too. Might have the name wrong. But both Mark 1 and Mark 2 can record 8 tracks at once. Wish I doubled check before replying but recording right now and just wanted to help. A1. Peace and Ja Love
I backed these files up on my external hard drives many moons ago - now want to simply load them in Cubase (9) - however, these .wav files are encrypted in a way only the AW16G will decipher - so short of having to retrieve my unit, how can I simply convert these files so they can in fact be recognized by Cubase??? I found some videos that offered links to software converters, but sadly the links do not exist anymore... Any suggestions or successful conversion software would be greatly appreciated!
Every attempt I've made to find software that decrypts the .16g file format has fallen flat. That said, the files are mostly uncompressed aiff audio which with some work can be extracted the hard way
Liked and subscribed. Please help --- How do you set the EFF 1 and EFF 2 to be able to be sent to each track? It used to be set-up like this for me BUT now....it only is permitting assigning to 1 track at a time!!! Argh!!! Help me, Obi-Wan .. Please! Thank you!
In the menu that gets brought up when you select Effects 1 and 2. You should be able to hit the dial button to get to the send effect menu and then select what tracks you want the effect to be active on. You can only use a max of two effects on each project. All the tracks in the project will have to share the two effects you choose. You can't not have more than that.
Yes and No. Once you get a USB Data Cable, you can then transfer your files to a computer. If you have a the Programmimg Cd, you can upgrade the Harddrive with a new one. I want to say its possible to export to an external, though i have never tried.
@@circletrianglesquaremusic There is no usb data cable. There is no usb at all. I am looking right now. You have digital in and out, 8 inputs, Stereo/Aux out and Monitor Out, Midi Out. Now you probably can get the drive switched out to a USB drive that they use in a MPC. Ebay sells them.
You're right this model doesn't. A fact I didn't notice right away. My first Model did. Not sure if there is a difference between American and Japanese ones. But in terms of doing it old-school. I haven't had a problem exporting anything. Even running in out as a live instrument
I presently use a BOSS BR600 - but have just bought a job lot of studio gear for a knockdown rate, and this machine is included. In honesty, do you think (as a singer songwriter who records almost daily) that this machine will be of use to me? The Boss unit is small, but sounds great, 24 bit. This AW16G is bigger, but 16 bit.... is it a step up, regardless of the bit rate? Anyhooch... all the best. Subscribed!
Its great a question. A1. I would say like finding your voice, becoming comfortable with your tools is something that only takes time. I grew up watching bands play and record live onn stage to the studio. I started with a 4track cassette recorder which id say was the best thing ive ever used. Though I love and know this Yamaha. I went Ten Years without one and somehow found another one. I spent ever day remembering what i needed inorder to record music again. So as a tastmemt. This channel is me documenting what I could. With what i had in front of me. From just recording on my phone to haveing mics and a mixer again. All I need is a Bass and A Drumkit and Ill be banging out even more stuff. Currently work on the third album. So go with you know and for me its "if it aint broke, dont fix it". I learned alot of old school. Im not dependent on a computer. But that Boss(with out looking it up) if i remember right only has two channels at once so to do more or mic a whole kit you will need a mixer. But overall its a tuff unit. Boss makes tuff stuff. So I hoped that helped answer your question and gave some insite into hour endeavors. A1. ✌ Peace and Ja Love 💘....ps nice storage unit find you got ahold of.
@@circletrianglesquaremusic Thanks man --- some sensible words! Yep you are right, can only rec. 2 trks simultaneously. Still use and love my 1600, 20 plus years later!
I have aw16gs and don't use them because of the lack of tutorials. I would greatly appreciate more videos.😃👍
The same here🙂...
Just use the manual
That I will try. For me it's about the music. Though I was told it's about the giving/teaching the gift. So, I will try to do as requested.
Thanks for the video, greetings from Germany
