Obviously, the biggest problem about applying this pseudo-combination concept on Combiners like Devastator is, unlike Menasor who could get away with it by having Motormaster and Menasor's skeleton body separated into truck and trailer, Devastator didn't have that luxury because there's no way to hide Devastator's skeleton body. Sure, they can make it transform into something else that is more useful than a partsforming junk, but even if they did, its main purpose was just for the skeleton body.

Long haul doesn't actually lock the top waist joint, he's meant to bend his knees to support the weight of crunching poses so devastator doesn't flop all over. It works okay in practice
It seems folks would have been more receptive if that shell broke down into some version of the attack mode bits. I get that shell is a turn off for some. I just see it as simplifying all that G1 kibble. Cool… but not something on which I’d drop $200. Looks good IMO.

While there’s the giant shell of a torso it’s a sacrifice to keep the 6 figures better, also it’s legends tying to do an all in 1 devestator at legends scale would get messy, also a lot of other legends combiners have combiner bits due to size so why does everyone harp on this 1 set. I got this set wanting something devestator that wouldn’t be a hassle to put on a shelf and this set is great the robot modes are super clean and fun to fiddle with then the G2 colours in vehicle mode such a good look
I would say everyone picks this set specifically because with other legends combiners the combiner kibble is usable in the other modes where as this is just a hunk of unusable plastic until you combine them

The individual cons are some of Newage's best without a doubt, especially the arm bots & long haul. I mess with Bonecrusher & Scrapper pretty often since theyre my favorite characters from the team. Theyre so fun as individual packages and they might be my favorite constructicons... but the combined mode is so lame. I really dont like that the skeleton is 90% of the combined mode, and that it does absolutely nothing when not combined. Theres no fun to combining them, the whimsy is absent. I'd take less articulation for a more fun toy experience any day, this just barely misses the mark for me in arguably the most important place for a combiner. Devy is a phenomenal display piece, but it fails at being a good toy, even for just desk fidgeting. I'm not really a fan of Magic Square, but I think if NA could've managed something closer to their Devy the set would be perfect.
This would be an amazing combiner but I hate it so much only because of the fact that it barely combined it just plugs into a body frame and o hate that
I dont mind some partsforming aspects of combiners, take Toyworld constructor, his thighs, head and forearms are separate pieces, this is an excellent example of excluding the compromising parts of the individual figures but still leaving you with the idea that you combined something and everything is working out. Meanwhile this devastator is almost insulting, they have zero play with each other, everything is placed in this huge armature that might as well be another guy, hes doing basically every articulation of the combined mode. And it's not like "uh but menasor" cause menasor's body transforms into Motormaster's trailer, that at least that could make sense lore wise and its a great opportunity to give some usability to the trailer, the body of devastator is nothing but jsut that, a body, it cant convert into anything cool and still feels like cheating a lot
This almost feels like a Missing Link Devastator because of how much they resemble the original toys. In defense of the whole body assembly, the original had quite a bit of parts forming involved only in more sections with way less stability/engineering. Super excited to see what Hasbro does with 86 Devastator though I'll be really disappointed if it uses any of the engineering from the Combiner Wars one. I see Long Haul, and Hook hopefully as Leaders forming most of the upper/lower body with the remaining Constructicons doing the lower legs/ exterior limbs. If he's stable and articulate, and looks good I have no problems going the Menasaur route.
I think it's more likely Hasbro will do a scale down version in SS86 of the Combiner Wars version. I be shocked and pleasantly surprised if Hasbro came closer to Newages Devastator look.
Prefiero los constructicons de DX9 y a comparación de newage este se transforma en un buen combiner funcional sin usar una enorme estatua que metes a los componentes para la combinación
I'd say "I can see why this is less than $200", but this crap isn't even worth $100. The engineering shouldn't be so bad that it's basically a guy wearing armor.
That's how they're doing combiners now. Not just 3rd party, but official as well. It all started with the Xtransbots Menasor & these companies have been getting lazier since then.
I think the biggest factor in these fake parts, here and Toyworld Constructor, is trying to keep Longhaul the same height while doing much more. I personally wouldn’t mind if he’s a giant in the team for the sake of Deva-proportions
Everyone hating the lazy half of this set isn’t necessarily wrong but at the same time he looks amazing and it’s not like every single mode ( robot, alt, combiner ) is half assed like someone ( cough cough combiner wars )
Looking forward to it too, but at the same time I don't think Hasbro will release them how we want, at least for me. I have the OG ones and obviously how they combined had nothing to do how they did in the cartoon/movie. So my want is too have them come as close to how they combined and looked in the cartoon/movie. Unfortunately, Hasbro has mostly come up short in close look with their SS86 line.
Honestly I wanna be bothered by how the combination works but speaking honestly, this works exactly like how the original g1 devaatator transformed. It works better though because it’s all 1 solid piece; not a pile that you have to scavenge through and put together like a rickety puzzle.
As jank as it is, i prefer my $40 KO DX9 Hulkie because it can do the transformation all-in-one without the need for a separate figure to plug the robots into.

Didnt the torso turn into some kind of machine with drills? Maybe im thinking of another company?
Magic Square did that. While not a shell like Newage did so, Magic Square has a bottom torso/waist/thighs piece to help Devastator form.
I have the nbk devastator and I cannot tell you how many band aids I've gone through with him 😭
This would be an amazing combiner but I hate it so much only because of the fact that it barely combined it just plugs into a body frame and o hate that
Are these the Tonka bots Constructicons colors ???
They have blue eyes are they Autobots??
You could make them that if you wanted to. This version is to depict G2 Devastator.
@@dmonsef ohk thanks for the info 👍
Funny enough I had names for them and there combined form.. but discovered those names exist in TF lol
I love how nice the component parts look, but I hate how it has to have the core thing to combine.
I love your channel so much
This almost feels like a Missing Link Devastator because of how much they resemble the original toys.
Nah they should all be the same height
I think it's more likely Hasbro will do a scale down version in SS86 of the Combiner Wars version. I be shocked and pleasantly surprised if Hasbro came closer to Newages Devastator look.
Prefiero los constructicons de DX9 y a comparación de newage este se transforma en un buen combiner funcional sin usar una enorme estatua que metes a los componentes para la combinación
This about what I imagine the SS86 Devastator will be
and I am a-ok with that, cus skeletons make combiners fun to pose
Did you look at magic squair s devisator
I have gravity builder and also keeps falling
Down so I agree
If you're still missing the drill pegs maybe you can fashion your own out of the remains of the ratchet sprues.
How does he scale with legacy figures.
lucky cat has a really cool cybertronian devastator though the pieces are fiddly
Wait can you make Devastator with just Scrapper and Mixmaster? that's hilarious
I'd say "I can see why this is less than $200", but this crap isn't even worth $100. The engineering shouldn't be so bad that it's basically a guy wearing armor.
You could buy 10 or 12 DX9 Hulkie sets with that price point.
TF G2?
I don’t have any combiners 😭😭😭
I prefer Magic square’s Devastator. Though for the individual constructicons, for some of them, Newage looks better.
Bro really sneezed Hook out.
who in the world would go for friction over ratchets?
Love the videos!
Ribot, is that what a robot frog says
That's how they're doing combiners now. Not just 3rd party, but official as well. It all started with the Xtransbots Menasor & these companies have been getting lazier since then.
@@YungReg88 It started with DX9 Menasor
I think the biggest factor in these fake parts, here and Toyworld Constructor, is trying to keep Longhaul the same height while doing much more. I personally wouldn’t mind if he’s a giant in the team for the sake of Deva-proportions
Everyone hating the lazy half of this set isn’t necessarily wrong but at the same time he looks amazing and it’s not like every single mode ( robot, alt, combiner ) is half assed like someone ( cough cough combiner wars )
I’ve been trying to track this combiner down for so long!!!
Swindle really moved on up in the world after being a leg for 38 years.
Did my comment about this not even being worth $100 get deleted? People responded to it, so I doubt it was YT's censorship
Can't wait for the 86 Constructicons.
4:45 bless you
He says. “PREPARE FOR EXTERMINATION”! And then starts dismantling the autobot’s defenses
Honestly I wanna be bothered by how the combination works but speaking honestly, this works exactly like how the original g1 devaatator transformed. It works better though because it’s all 1 solid piece; not a pile that you have to scavenge through and put together like a rickety puzzle.
this is not a combiner
It is more of a callback to HasTak's Micromaster Sixbuilder set.
It’s more like those bakugon dragon things where you just put them on a model
To each their own regarding the definition of a TF Combiner!
As jank as it is, i prefer my $40 KO DX9 Hulkie because it can do the transformation all-in-one without the need for a separate figure to plug the robots into.
With that big hunk of partsforming, might as well just sell a non-transforming devastator
I’ve wanted this guy for a while, but the prices
Got my Dinobot ll on its way!😅
